In August fridge was icing up. Tech came and examined, and made sure it was defrosted. Took a couple of weeks to get parts. New tech returned and installed. Both were fantastic in timeliness and making sure we were fully informed. But...96 days later, it had the same issue. They only offer a 90 day warranty on repairs. In addition, they changed policy, and would only work on items that had a Best Buy service agreement or extended warranty, which ours did not. It took many calls and a trip to the store we purchased from, with appeals to higher levels, to have them forgive the initial trip charge and make exception to the new policy and come out again. When they did, additional parts were installed, at parts-only cost. DO NOT call unless you already have a service plan or extended warranty.

Best Buy no longer provides non-contract repairs, but did at the time of this repair, for our Samsung refrigerator. Repair failed on the 91st day, and they initially would not honor "90 day" repair warranty due to policy change and our not having a contract, but then did agree after appeal to local store manager. Our service man (Cory) was outstanding. When he was unable to repair after many attempts, he assisted in filing a claim with the manufacturer. After much back-and-forth, Samsung agreed to a brand-new replacement, which Cory noted was VERY uncharacteristic. Replacement was defective when delivered, but Best Buy replaced again. To date, third time is the charm!

BEST BUY WILL NOT HONOR THE COUPON ON THIS SITE! The coupon specifically says "Visit a best buy today" "In-Store Only" "Visit Best Buy to complete a diagnostic" This is not accurate! I hauled my broken TV to best buy. They completed the diagnostic, but would not honor the coupon for 10% off a replacement. After talking to the store manager who had never heard of the coupon and refused to honor it, I spent over 2 hours on the phone with Best Buy corporate trying to find somebody who knew what was going on. They said that in order to use the coupon (even though it says the exact opposite), you need to pay $99 for a tech to come to your home. Once the in-home tech complete a diagnostic and you refuse the repair then they will email you a coupon with a bar code that is valid for an in-store purchase. On the phone with their customer service reps, I never spoke out of turn and was highly patient with the people in the call center (as I work customer service myself). They were nothing but rude to me in return. Best Buy corporate is run by a bunch of liars and thieves. The wording on the voucher is purposefully highly misleading. Ultimately they were unwilling to honor the words they had written on the voucher which said nothing about an in-home service call and specifically said you must visit a Best Buy store and you must use In-Store Only. Worst customer service experience of my life. However, the people at the store in Roseville, MN were very kind. They recycled my old TV and helped me pick out a new TV. Best Buy corporate needs to take a lesson from the people they employ. They also need to give their employees the information they need to deal with coupons and vouchers that they are releasing online. This expirience was very frustrating for all of us involed at the store. BEST BUY WILL NOT HONOR THE COUPON ON THIS SITE!

terrific. Daniel was thorough and explaining what he was doing the whole time. Never seemed rushed as he got the job done. I was so very glad to get it all done and also that I didn't try to set these new electronics up myself as I did in the past before wireless technology. He was so patient when we experienced a slow download. No grumbling, smiling the whole 2 hours needed to finish. At the end, he took the time to acquaint me with the basics of the new PC, operating system and printer capabilities. He also was very good about cleaning up the packing materials, leaving the area quite tidy. He was obviously a seasoned professional and I am 100% pleased. The only negative would be in scheduling the service call. Store purchase on 10/30 and set-up first set-up appointment available was 11/6. I think I was worth the wait to get it done right.
Description of Work: Set up new desktop PC and printer right out of the boxes, established wireless connection with another PC so both connected to new printer, transferred data from old PC and loaded antivirus and office software.

The performance improvement is marginal if at all. The person who I left the computer with was helpful but when I picked it up the person was lazy and unwilling to discuss what had been done. Also, I left the computer when I was going to be on vacation and not needing it. I was in Europe and when I got the phone call was not getting reception to take it. When I called back there was no answer and no returned call. When the email notice came that they would have to erase all the memory it was important that I talk to them and have them save the information before proceeding. However, I couldn't reach anyone via email or phone. Since international calls are very expensive I could not stay on the line waiting for someone to eventually help. Very subpar service.
Description of Work: My computer was running slow so they were going to do a diagnostic and do what needed to be done to increase the speed.

made an initial fix and then helped me decide if it was worth it to fix further. Based on approximate cost I decided not to fix it but to replace it. He also installed a sound bar on my bedroom TV. He was fabulous, patient and super helpful on answering my numerous questions.

They called & asked to come earlier as they had a cancellation, which worked well for me. A second tech was needed to help carry out the old TV. The primary tech connected everything, including sound bar, game consoles. Gave detailed instructions on use of remote & reconnected me to cable so I had reception until comcast came out the next day with HD hook up.
Description of Work: They delivered, set up the new TV & all devices (game consoles, sound bar) & removed my old ,large 32" tube TV. & all boxes, wrappings, etc. Instructed me on the use of the remote.

Josh was the primary agent at our home. Steve (seemed to be an Apprentice) came from another job abit later. Both agents were excellent in the approach to doing their job and their knowledge of the task at hand. Both were very consumer oriented, explained everything they were going to be doing and made sure we were totally happy with the completed job. Being from Minneapolis (Maple Grove) my wife and I were very familiar with The Geek Squad from prior services. We were hopeful that we would receive the excellent service that we were accustomed to. We were not disappointed. We were very impressed with both agents. Agents are like Josh and Steve, confirmed our trust in the Geek Squad.
Description of Work: Josh and Steve set hung two TV's, programmed TV and Sound Bar w/sub-woofer. Also programed a "Harmony" Remote. ( What a great AV tool).

Geek Squad promised to call us and set up a time to install software we purchased on a couple of our computers. They NEVER called once. Now to my understanding, the MS Office annual renewal is up. It apparently starts at the date of purchase; not the date of installation. Technically we are out almost $500.00 because Geek Squad did not do what they promised. Call.

The Geek Squad agent called me before to let me know specifically when the team would arrive. Two people did the job because the TV was large. They walked through my home, found my router and checked my WiFi speed across all rooms in the house. They located the proper place on the wall to mount my new 60" TV and showed me where it would be to ensure it was in a good viewing spot from wherever anyone was seated in the room. They mounted the TV, connected everything to it and neatly hid the cords so I don't see them. Then they programmed it and connected it to the internet. Finally they gave me some quick education on using the remote. It was awesome. They also took all the packaging and garbage from the new TV with them that saved me some headache. I have the Agents business card if I need further help. This was well worth the investment as my husband would have spent an afternoon doing the whole thing and probably would not have done it as well.
Description of Work: When we moved into our new home we needed a new TV setup, installed and mounted and connected to our WiFi. Geek Squad did all of that to me and then taught me how to use everything.

They're a gift from heaven. They're wonderful. You call them up and they hook you up and they can somehow look at your computer at the same time you're looking at it. Then they can go to work and correct. They can see what the problem is and they can correct it. For a flat $50 fee if you need, they will send someone to your house if you need to have a printer connected or something that I couldn't do. The fellow was so conscientious. He even had shoe covers on his shoes so he wouldn't track something on the carpet. You can call them 24 hours a day for their computer over the internet service. I think it's $230 for two-year contract. It's for the internet service. But for in-house you have to pay a flat fee of $50. Usually, it's $75 to $100 an hour if you get some other person to come. The overall experience was excellent. These people really seem to know what they're up to. They've got that little mouse and I'm watching it go like crazy. They are just clicky click. I told them right off the bat, "Pretend like you're speaking to a child. I don't know anything. Just take over and don't use any big words." So they do. We understand each other perfectly. Honestly, the price of that two-year contract is equivalent of three hours of a technician coming to your house. It took him maybe 20 minutes to fix the computer.

It went very smoothly. The technician was Mark M. and he was very nice to work with. The job required 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours, and an additional man was needed move the old TV.

I looked them up on Angie's List and then I went to the Best Buy and that is where I bought a contract. So, although I looked them up on Angie's List because I was researching, but I did not act on it, I went to Best Buy to return my computer and at that time I bought the contract. It is a two-year contract. They were absolutely wonderful. You can call them up and they can some how get in side your computer from across the country and then they can see where the problem is and correct it. They have a 24-hour service. They were delightful. I think I called them twice and each time they were very friendly and helped me and fixed the computer. The people I talked to over the phone were very friendly. Most people who come to your home to fix your computer charge at least $75-100 an hour. So the Geek Squad charge less than $300 for two years for unlimited service. It is a great deal. They do come to your home, but I did not need them to, and if they come to your home then it is $50 an hour, which is half of what a regular computer technician would charge. In my case, I did not need them, as they were able to do it through the computer. I had just paid like almost $1000 to someone who came to the house several times and they kind of like half way corrected the computer. So it can be seen why I am so happy with Geek Squad.

I had a pleasant experience with them. I come to know them by when I bought the washer and dryer in Bestbuy because we chose not to buy it in Sears. My wife also bought an extended warranty through the Geek Squad.

Within one service, they were able to tell me that my hard drive was failing, and I was able to get this fixed under warranty. They have also set up all of my software, and remedied all small glitches that arose afterwards. You can call them 24/7. This is a remote service, and you can make contact with the same agents that you have used previously. I have gotten my money's worth within the first week of service and I have a whole year left on the service. You can see everything that they do, and you can live chat or talk on the phone with them with them while they are working. UPDATE: For the past two years I have been ecstatic with Geek Squad. Until now. I spent approximately 20 minutes tonight trying to contact an agent for a simple fix and figured out what took so long. Geek Squad used to be agents located in the US who you got a direct contact with. NOW those same "agents" are called Dispatchers. The Dispatchers take your information and transfer you to another "Agent" who reviews the information the Dispatcher gathered. Once you confirm the help you are requesting you are then transferred to...... the Philipines!!! Yes, it seems at the beginning of the year Geek Squad changed their procedures. You do NOT have contact with someone you had already built a trust relationship with, now you are transferred a couple of times to someone who is a total stranger in the Philipines. I am extremely disappointed. My initial satisfaction with Geek Squad was because they WERE in the US and I was able to build a level of trust with a particular agent who was working with my computer. Now it is transfer, transfer, transfer to a stranger the other side of the world. I'm not sure I recommend Geek Squad now. If you can find assistance closer to home I strongly suggest it. This isn't the same company they were two years ago. I'm extremely disappointed.
Description of Work: I have them contracted for remote computer problems. It was $69 to join and you pay $19.99/month afterwards.

We bought a washer and dryer from Best Buy. The washer quit running so we called to schedule service. Our appointment was scheduled but the technician never showed or called. I contacted Best Buy and was told that the technician was called off appointments for training. In attempting to reschedule, I was on the phone for over 10 minutes. While waiting on hold I found a local company and they repaired the washer. I am embarrassed for Best Buy. They lost me as a customer. Evidently they are losing others as stores continue to close across the country.
