FOSS LAWN CARE SERVICES

I hired Wade to come out and mow my lawn on a weekly basis. During the initial setup time, I gave him multiple phone numbers to contact me on multiple occasions. I paid the first bill immediately on receipt. He wasn't regular on which day he showed up, but it was close enough to weekly that I wasn't too upset. He was a little more costly than the previous service but not by much and he did a better job at keeping the lawn nice. There were a couple of sprinkler heads cut off, but the heads were old and he asked me to show him the heads when he started mowing and it didn't work out that I had time to do it, so that was my fault. Wade sent the second bill just prior to a period where I was traveling a bit and closing on a house I was selling, so I didn't get it paid immediately. There was no due date on the bill and no statement of payment terms. When I got back from traveling, I sent a check which was received still within the net 30 days I thought were his terms. At that point, he hadn't shown up for a couple of weeks, but I assumed it was just the irregularity of the days he showed up before. I took another week-long trip out of town and came back to find my lawn still not mowed. When I called to find out what was happening, he told me that he doesn't write a lot of stuff down and so didn't have my phone numbers to call, and since he's been burned before he had to just stop showing up. The only effort he made to contact me was apparently a note on the next bill which I haven't received yet. There were no notes stuck in the door and he never raised the possibility of leaving payment for him when he was there (nor was he consistent on the days he came so I couldn't plan to do that either). I can understand him wanting the money faster than 30 days. I get that lawn mowing is not the most lucrative business, particularly now with gas prices as they are. If he had made his expectations clear up front, this probably wouldn't have happened. I accept that if I'd paid immediately like I try to do in normal months, we'd probably still be ok, too. However, the fact that he's not organized enough to keep the phone numbers of his clients is unprofessional to me. The fact that he then didn't bother to check a phone book (I'm listed), the Internet, or put a note in the door to get things rectified when he perceived a problem but instead just stopped showing up is as well. We'll be finding a new lawn care service.

Only candidate willing to consider my small job. Came promptly. Did a very satisfactory job, not perfect, but well worth the low cost.

Wade promptly arrived to give an estimate. Returned as agreed the following week for clean up of yard and broken branch removal. Did an excellent job on both. Stayed even after it started raining attempting to complete the job. Had to return the next day to complete the clean up on walk ways and driveway. Wade did an excellent job!

Wade was prompt and personable. He did a very professional job on the edging installation and the lawn care. He also does snow-plowing and we have hired him for the upcoming season.
