Complete Custom Painting

We have a large number of quarter-sawn oak custom cabinets and built-ins on our main level home that were stained a rather orange shade and we wanted a much darker shade while still being able to see the beautiful quarter-sawn grain patterns. Nick visited us initially and was very knowledgeable with suggestions on the materials, processes available to us, and limitations. The process selected was a gel stain due to the finish of the cabinets being a combination of solid and veneered wood. He took and couple of sample pieces for stain testing and visited us two additional times to discover a stain shade and outcome that we liked. The work required was very details and meticulous due to the design of the various cabinets, built-ins, etc. Work was started about 3 weeks later and required approximately 2 weeks. Nick and his team were very professional, accommodating, and conscientious about our needs and desires, and they really went the extra mile with their workmanship, protecting the main level, use of the garage as an additional workspace, etc. The end result was wonderful. Our family is very pleased with the outcome and enjoyed our time with the team! We would recommend and work with Complete Custom Painting again!

I am not wealthy. I had to take thousands of dollars out of my retirement savings to get this work done, and every time I look at the front of my house I want to cry. My house is 96 years old and has wood siding. Though the siding had many layers of chipping and alligatoring paint, the siding itself was straight, clean, undamaged. The owner persuaded me to have it sanded down to the wood, saying I’d get a better result. Instead, large marks/gouges and waviness from the sander are now highly visible, and the crew damaged so many boards—long pieces were ripped away—that at this point the only remedy would be to replace most of the siding. I noticed the damaged boards right away and asked repeatedly when the carpenter was coming for the repairs. I got no answer, weeks passed, the crew kept on painting the ridiculously damaged boards while I was at work, AND ONE GUY EVEN TRIED TO DENY HE/THEY HAD DAMAGED THE BOARDS. The owner didn’t seem to be overseeing this job or care at all. I finally threatened to withhold final payment. A carpenter finally came in November to replace the most severely damaged boards, too late for painting with winter bearing down. It’s finally all done, but I am heartbroken over how bad it looks and feel like a sucker for paying as much as I did for such shoddy work. I hope I can spare some other homeowner this sickening feeling. See earlier review. See attached photo. This is how the second story front of my house looks A YEAR after this company finished the work. Owner said to leave the paint out so one of his workers could paint over this black caulk or paint or whatever it is. I left the paint out when the owner said to, and of course they never showed up. Owner never followed up. That was a year ago. Don’t hire this company.

I purchased painter for a day deal to refresh my house interior main level. The first scheduled date got cancelled and I got rescheduled but I'm glad I waited. Mike came very early morning and got to work right away after listened what I needed to be done. He worked efficiently and covered almost all my first level areas including stair wall up to the second floor. It was more than 8 hours work really in the end because Mike went above and beyond finishing another section where he could have left alone. I am very satisfied the work. Thank you!

Very well. There were some issues on the first day -- the biggest being the wrong color was used on our foundation. Nick came out and addressed all of my concerns including re-painting the foundation with the correct color. When they finished everything looked really great. We have some interior painting we want to do later this year and i will be reaching out to Nick for that work.

Excellent! Nick was very responsive to questions, explained necessary "fixes", supervised staff well. The work was excellent. We needed some mixing of paint and Nick was helpful and patient while we decided on the right hue. Both rooms were cleaned up very well and the work was finished in a day. Nick was responsive to our concerns and all the work was completed as outlined in the estimate.

I was quoted two guys for two days. Day one, two guys showed up, but one left after an hour and left the other on his own for the day. He finished the job, and I was still to be charged for two guys for two days, and I gave the guy a ride home an hour away. No one he works with would take care of him. I was threatened with city and county issues after complaining, and ridiculed for checking on my own property (you were told not to enter the property while the work was being done). Wow, really?! Because I was able to realize the ******** happening?! Don’t use this outfit!

There were a few scheduling mishaps, but all in all work was completed in a very timely manner. Painters were all very pleasant and worked both quietly and neatly. When Nick came to view final product he was not pleased and asked if he could start working then and there to correct. He refinished a number of spots and was still able to complete the job in a reasonable time.

Nick and his team were very professional. They arrived on time and completed the project in the estimated time frame. They were clean and treated our belongings with respect. Prior to painting, they spent time with me so I could specifically request areas that I wanted painted, areas I wanted repaired, and areas I wanted left alone (around the TV mounting screw holes). When I inspected the work afterwards, they satisfied all of my requests. I will be using them again to paint the house we move into.

Excellent, easy to schedule and dealt professionally with a last minute schedule change that was 100% my fault. Definitely will use again.

He was patient with all my various requests and they did a really good job for a decent price in a timely manner. I'm probably going to have them do my exterior next year.

EXTERIOR: They did a nice job outside and I would recommend them for the exterior. INTERIOR WINDOW TRIM: They also did a nice job staining our new wood window trims inside the house. INTERIOR DOOR STAINING: They stained the old doors, but didn't clean them first - just stained right over them, which were very dirty with fingerprints from the previous owners. So the doors generally had a nice finish, but they were still all dirty. I expected that they would give the doors a wipe to clean them off before staining. INTERIOR CEILINGS: They were fine. INTERIOR WALLS: In my opinion, the quality and professionalism was very low when it came to painting our walls. They painted one room the wrong color, but didn't repaint when I asked. Several weeks later, after having moved in and moving in our furniture including an upright piano, he offered to repaint. At that point, we said we'd rather negotiate a discount for the mistake. He offered us $25 plus the cost of the paint. He wouldn't budge on this. Our house was a $15,000+ project and he wouldn't offer more than $25 for painting a room the wrong color. This is very unprofessional. In the room next to that, a powder room, they got an extremely glossy paint. When we pointed it out, Nick agreed it was too glossy. It never got repainted either. The bedroom paint is also quite glossy. All over the house, there were spots - usually along trim, that didn't get painted. We pointed them out and many got addressed, some didn't. I don't believe it should be our job to find all of their mistakes. I think the project was just too large for them. They used tape when they did the window staining, or along edges, but the tape peeled up whatever paint it was sticking to. Sometimes it even peeled the sheetrock paper up. Then we'd have to point out things like this. In one spot over a door frame, there was a 5" rip of sheetrock paper and no one decided to fix that mistake. This is just one example of the poor craftsmanship. There were paint drips and footsteps left on tile and wood floors. Some of the spots on the wood floor are still there and won't come up. They cleaned their brushes in the bathroom sink instead of the utility sink downstairs. They admitted to painting a second coat of paint while the first was still wet. Many times someone was supposed to come, but that person never materialized. I could go on. I most certainly would not recommend Complete Custom Painting.

Nick did what was expected and much, much more. And his price was fair considering my short timeline. I highly recommend Nick and CPP. Would call him again in a heartbeat. Great job...great guy.

Having our house painted by Complete Custom Painting and Restoration was a wonderful experience. We have had houses painted over the years, and never have had such a knowledge company. Nick Dettinger knows his products – paints, bonding agents, oils, etc. - to accomplish the job. This house was in a dilapidated state, and the crew worked diligently to repair, sand, and paint it. You would not know it is the same house now. Plus, their price is right in the ball park. We had three estimates, and Complete Custom Painting, was the middle bid. Definitely a 5 star company.

Nick and his crew were FANTASTIC! They were very diligent in making sure the painting was done to my satisfaction and even returned at my request to paint a new vent that I had failed to ask them to paint originally. I sought multiple bids for my job, and Nick's quote was the lowest; I got the best job possible for the lowest cost. Incredible! I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the job that Complete Custom painting did at our house. Nick, the owner, is a really nice guy who takes the time to walk through everything with you - before and after - to be sure you both understand what will be done and are satisfied with what has been done. We had painter Trevor on-site for three days, and he persevered through some real challenges with our popcorn ceilings to give us an excellent result . The quality of the work and the professionalism with which it is performed (punctuality, prep, clean-up, consistent flow of information, etc.) is really impressive. Complete Custom will ensure that they understand what you want and that you get it; I recommend them highly and will certainly hire them again if I need painting in the future. As I told Nick, it was the best $1450 I have spent in a long time.

The process was very easy. Nick was very easy to work with, and put no pressure on us. When the project was ready to be worked on, his team was very punctual and got the job done in an efficient manner. They set up, and cleaned up with no paint drips or dust in sight. Nick Dettinger cares about customer satisfaction. My house, due to woodpecker damage, needed more repair of damaged wood panels. His team repaired that, primed, and painted house and deck. He and his team cared about matching the existing paint [I wanted the same color] and he takes a final tour of the house to make sure the owner is satisfied. I am keeping his card, as it's hard to find a service provider who cares about quality!

Nick, Trevor, and Missy were fantastic to work with on this project. They are professional, conscientious, courteous, and not to mention, just really nice people. They did a wonderful job of painting our kids bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as touching up some spots that have taken a beating from kids over the years. They worked with us on finding a plan that stayed within our budget, yet still met our goals for the project. The result is nice and fresh spaces for our kids. Nick came out and gave a look through the house. A few days later he had the bid ready. The price was fair and Nick was able to schedule the job fairly quickly. He had his painters Trevor and Missy complete the work. Both painters are professional, courteous and have a great eye for detail. The ceiling lines and baseboard areas were top notch. During the job Trevor would find imperfections and mark them to fix. At the end of the painting job he gave me some masking tape and asked me to go through the entire job and find any imperfections and mark them and he would fix them. I was completely satisfied with their work and would recommend them in a heart beat?. I am actually having them come back next week to paint the trim and baseboards. I have their number in my phone if ever I need a painter again.
