Carpet King is for you if you want to have your belongings rummaged through! Carpet King does not have employees install the carpet you purchase from them. They subcontract with anyone with anyone who has a pulse with no background checks and certainly no one with any ability to speak a word of English. We caught one of their subcontractors red-handed with personal belongings on his body. We ended the installation on that day. Run from Carpet King!

The sales man was professional and personable and look for are best interest. When they installed the carpet they were very careful with are furniture.

Description of Work: Generally a good experience. I was surprised/unhappy to learn after buying/ordering the carpet that this ultra soft carpet would require purchase of a new vacuum cleaner, as my existing modern vacuum would not work/would ruin the new carpet. I told my sales man about this, and he nonchalantly agreed, but did not warn me ahead of time. Carpet is good, installers were fast and good.

We shopped around and ended up at this store because it was near the other competitor's locations and we had purchased from Carpet King in the past. We were met by Paulino (Paul) and explained what we wanted. We eventually selected an and quot;in-stockand quot; Stainmaster carpet that was prominently displayed at the entrance and marked and quot;on saleand quot;. He gave us a couple of large samples to take home so we could check out the colors. The large samples were especially nice compared to what the other stores had offered and that's primarily what sold us. When I got home, I checked out the carpet specs on the manufacturers website and learned it wasn't actually Stainmaster - it was a different brand's product, but still very good quality. I brought this up when I returned to the store and Paul agreed that it wasn't Stainmaster and the price was now different than originally stated. He made a call to confirm that he could honor the originally stated price, but informed us that he could no longer discount the price of the pad as we had dicussed because of the mixup. This really felt like a bait and switch tactic, but we had too much time invested and the total price was still competitive and fit our budget. In a few days, an estimator came out to measure and Paul followed up to let us know that my estimated square footage was good and the original price was still close. However, the carpet was out of stock and would take 7-10 days for delivery, but I agreed to place the order anyhow. A week later, Paul called to schedule the installation and I explained that we wanted to include a small (2' x 4') closet at the base of the stairs because we had allowed enough material, but he said it wasn't on the estimator's blueprint and couldn't guarantee it could be done - and quot;but we could lay the scraps in the closetand quot;. At this point, I was starting to lose my patience with Paul and let him know the closet would be included or they would need to cancel the order. A few days later the installers showed up (1.5 hrs late from what Paul told us) and the two guys went right to work. They were very nice to work with and said that it wasn't noted on the paperwork, but the closet was not a problem and they would be happy to include it. They did a nice job and finished in about 3 hours. It seems like a new home and we're very happy with the look, feel, and quality of our carpet selection. My overall impression: very poor customer service from the store, but great customer service from the installers!

Initial Sale (A) The people at Carpet King on Highway 7 were very nice and professional. The price points were competitive and the overall sales process was just fine. Carpet Install (A) Professional installer. No issues with the carpet Hardwood Install (F) Where do I begin. I will spare you from all the nasty details. However, we were very close to ending up having to hire a lawyer to solve the issues with Carpet King. After the first install, I noticed immediately that the floor was sagging in various areas and there was popping and creaking happening everywhere. I waited a couple of days and went back up to ask it to be fixed. They told me that they would have to open a Customer Service Request. This was in early Feb. It took a week for them to reach back out to me. They sent out the crew to examine the floor. While they were here they agreed that the floor was not performing properly. Two days later I called (I always had to be proactive and call throughout this whole process). At that point, the customer service rep said that his crew said there were no problems and that I would just have to live with it. After several calls/emails, I told him that I wanted a certified flooring inspector to come out to do an independent assessment. They eventually agreed and it took another 4 weeks for that person to come out. 3 weeks after that, the report came back stating exactly what I knew would be the case...the installation was done incorrectly. So after that, 2 weeks later the same crew came back out and tried to fix the floor. The next day, the cracking and popping was still an issue. I called them back and they told me that there was nothing else they could do. I ended up calling the flooring company myself to see what else could be done. I also spoke with other contractors on the issue. After several hours of my own time, I discovered that the only way to make the floor not pop and crack everywhere was to install it a different way (glue down). After more time and back and forth, Carpet King finally came back out and re did the floor....weeks later. At this point, it is performing properly. There is no way I can fully describe everything that happened in detail. In summary, it took a total of 3 months to get the floor done right. During that time, we never moved back into our bedroom because we were waiting for it to get fixed. I had to take at least 5 days off work to be here since they kept coming back out and I spent probably 40 hours of my own time dealing with this issue and researching ways to fix it. After all was said and done, they NEVER offered me any discount or rebate due to all the excessive problems and hassle my wife and I had to go through. So if you are thinking about buying hardwood flooring at Carpet King...think again. I should have known better given they are not called and quot;Hardwood Flooring Kingand quot;.
Description of Work: Buyer Beware! I recently purchased both Carpet and Hardwood flooring from the Carpet King location located on Highway 7 in Hopkins. I will separate my review in 3 sections (Initial sale, Carpet Installation, Wood flooring Installation). We purchased $2000 worth of Carpet and about $2000 in engineered hardwood flooring.

Larry and his crew did a fantastic job. They were professional and on time. He gave us a discount and very large samples to take home to see what looks best. It's fabulous.

Description of Work: We went to carpet king to purchase wood/laminate flooring for our first floor (900sf), and carpet for our stairs and bedrooms. Initially, we were met by a very professional and attentive staff person (don't recall her name). She set up a date/time for someone to come to my home and take measurements. This occured. No problems. Then, we didn't hear back from anyone. When I went to Carpet King to confirm the products, schedule a date to begin installation and pay, no one seemed interested in working with me. I asked for assistance after walking around the floor for a few minutes and there was a young woman who seemed very uninterested in meeting with me. I explained who and what I was following up on and she didn't seem to care. There was no one else available and when Iasked if the first person would be available, I was informed that she had quit. I left and went with another company. One that had an A grade with Angie's list. This was crazy and I hope management has already addressed their staffing concern.

It was a miserable experience with conflicting information given by one employee to the point that I requested a refund. I would be told one thing and then a conflicting statement. The product wasn't ordered correctly, I was blamed for the employee's error and it took several weeks to schedule the installation at a workable time. When the installer came he did not know that he needed to remove several rooms of carpet and was not pleased to hear it. The incompetent employee called at 7 pm on the day of the install to let me know that they would be installing on that date. No kidding...the guy had been at my home for 10 hours and finished by the time she called! The floor is fine and I am happy with the final product although the process was awful. I must say however that I placed a order for carpet today from a big box store and they tried to overcharge me by $100. Maybe the flooring industry is just odd.

My family member referred us to them. They charged labor cost for one room, and they didn't charge for any additional room, so we pretty much had the entire house re-carpeted for the price of one room being done labor wise. We were in there on Monday, and got everything. They came on Tuesday to measure the room. They came on Wednesday to install the carpets. We didn't compare their price because we got better price, better quality, and better padding. They said they would be here between 7 and 10, and they call us at 7.30 that they will be here by 8. They were very plain individual.

Carpet is a subjective thing to buy and I wish it was easier to buy and was rated in a certain area. I looked at another place after I bought this carpet and they had it put in 25 year, 20 year and so forth. It was categorized in a really easy way to look at. All the other places were all over the place. It was easier to look at carpet at other places but it was hard to get people to wait on you. Carpet King had very good service and the people that wait on you are very patient and let you take stuff home without paying for it. Their carpet installers were very good and moved furniture around. I am still debating on my upper level and haven't decided when I want that installed. The lower level is done and they did a very nice job. It is a plush carpet and very nice. Their pricing has been reasonable but it has been confusing. My daughter also looked at them for hardwood flooring. I am an indecisive person when it comes to buying carpet and they have been very patient. The people came the day they said they would and did what they said they would do. I had used Carpet King before to install ceramic tile in my kitchen.

We started our search for carpet by contacting one company. They came in the next day and gave us an estimate of over $4,500 for their cheapest frise carpet (all-inclusive). We told them we would get back to them (they called back four days later and offered it to us for $3,500, ridiculous). We then went to a different company and found a frise carpet that we liked (it was a mid-grade carpet about 25% more expensive than their cheapest), which they could sell to us for about $2.50 (including the upgraded vapor pad) plus $199 installation costs, which included tear-out and disposal (add $100 for stair installation). They would use contractors to install it and the whole experience was a little impersonal. Finally, we went to Carpet King. We explained to James the other places we had visited and he assured us he could get us as good a deal as the other companies. We found a frise we liked that was a StainMaster (nicer than the other frise carpet) and an upgraded vapor pad. After talking to the pricing department, James was able to get it for $2.59/ft (including the pad) plus $203 installation costs (including stairs, but I did my own tear-out and disposal). To top it all off, they had a special that got us an additional $50 discount. They use their own installers, which made us feel more comfortable. In general, James did a great job of making us comfortable. The entire process was handled very professionally. The installers did an excellent job and were done in under four hours.
