He did an excellent job. It looked good and was approved by the mpls plumbing inspector. The price seemed good but to be honest didn't shop around for the work.
Description of Work: Told me how to fix a non code conforming drain with inadequate vent. in basement He gave me a quote to redo the venting situation and I had him perform the work since the quote seemed very reasonable.

Been having problems with garbage disposal and the pipes underneath sink loosened up. Decided that didn't want the disposal anymore. Gave Chris a call and got appointment scheduled. They were prompt and got the work done neatly. Removed the disposal and fixed and replacednecessary piping. Also decided to have them remove two soap dispensers that were not functioning and since then I bought two faucet hole plugs and put those in. Everything is working great. They are really good plumbers.

My garbage disposal unit was 20 years old and had been installed by a DIY'er. The drain pipes were a tangled, amateurish mess and had begun to leak. Chris Burkhardt and his son, (4th and 5th generation family business) did a professional job of replacing everything to my satisfaction. They were prompt, courteous, competent.

The realtor selling my mom's house noticed a small leak in a basement pipe and said I needed to get it fixed. He recommended Burkhardt Plumbing and they were close to my mom's house. I called and they came out the same day. While doing that repair they found another area that could be a problem, but wasn't yet, and fixed that as well. I appreciated that they found another potentially bad pipe and fixed it while they were there. The price was reasonable and I would hire them again. Chris and his helper were very tidy, professional, and friendly.

They showed up early, and did the work within the time they'd estimated. I'd lost the estimate they provided, and we both agreed the estimate had been between $500 and $600. However, they gave me the benefit of the doubt and lowered the bill to $500 even. They don't take credit, and I wasn't aware of that--but thankfully, I was able to make that work.
Description of Work: They repiped the bathtub and bathroom sink. These pipes had drained to a common horizontal pipe which often clogged. Now, the pipes have a Y formation for better draining and easier snaking. The pipes were a little hard to get to, which made it a more expensive job.

They were able to schedule an appointment within a week of my call, and Chris (owner) and his son did the work. They were prompt, professional, and meticulous about cleaning up their work areas. Before leaving Chris told me if there were any problems with what they fixed to let me know. As it turns out the toilet still leaked after the first visit so they came back promptly on a late Friday afternoon free of charge and got it taken care of. They also quoted an estimate on replacing laundry room sink and were willing to perform that "while you're here could you look at....." work as they had the time. I would definitely hire them again.

They showed up about 15 minutes later than expected, but their service was excellent. They ended up having to snake out 4 lines to clear the clogs. It took them about 30 minutes start to finish. The drains are running the best they have since I bought the house.

He was excellent. I had another company come out and tell me that I had no water because the pipes were clogged. I called Burkhardt Plumbing and they came out and determined that I had no water because the filters were clogged. He did not charge me for having to come out and unclog the filters. I plan to use them again in the future.

They came at 5 at night, and I asked if they had time to check a bathroom faucet that was dripping. He did that too. When he was all done, the hot water was coming out at barely a trickle. I was unhappy with that, and asked he do something on it. He used a back flow technique (flushing the debris out of the hot water line) that restored the stream of water to its previous level. I'm grateful that he took the time to fix the old toilet - some companies would have told me it would have to be replaced, which it does, but just not right now, and he took the time to find the parts it needed.

I called for an estimate in October. Chris arrived on time and gave me a written estimate. Between needing to have the city turn off the water for the water meter valve repair and my schedule, we had to wait until after Christmas to schedule the actual work. When I called Chris back to schedule, I was surprised that he didn't answer the phone by identifying his company's name. It threw me off to not know if I had reached the right person. He said he could get the permit for turning off the water. Neither of us had a calendar in front of us so I was concerned about whether he was actually going to write the job down on his schedule, especially since it would be a month into the future. I called a week ahead to double-check. He asked me to recap what it was he would be doing (was it just not handy or did he not write it down?). I reminded him that the water would need to be shut off and that the city would be closed for Christmas so he needed to contact them within the next day or two. He then wondered if I would need to get the permit, but said he would check on it. He called to tell me when to expect the city and when to expect him. Someone else came to actually do the work (that person said Chris was on vacation or out of town). Two other guys came to do the sewer line clean out. They asked me for newspapers; this surprised me. Why don't they bring their own equipment? Later I found the newspapers balled up in a corner. Overall, the work went fine. It's the little things that I found irritating. He turned the water back on and then went out to his truck (I think for a lunch break) but did not tell me until later that the water was back on. When I told him that the city worker had said he could take the key out and put it up by the house and put the cover back on (which would take all of about 5 minutes and would signal that we were finished) he complained about having to do their work. He moved and installed the dryer and the laundry tub and then asked me if I wanted the washer in front of or next to some pipes. I would have (and probably should have anyway) asked him to move the dryer and sink over a bit but he already had them installed. This would have made the dryer vent a straighter shot and allowed it to plug into the wall-now I need to get an extension cord. Why didn't he plan ahead and make sure it made sense before actually installing? I don't trust his assessment on the gas connector-I think he pulled the stove far enough to see the brass supply pipe but not to actually look at the connector. What really angers me is that one of the three of them used my guest hand towel as a rag and left it for me to find. I doubt I'll be able to get it clean. What a waste! Why don't they bring rags with them? If they had asked, I have a box of rags. That's blatant disrespect for property and seals my decision to look for another plumber for next time.
Description of Work: I hired them to do a number of things: Remove a cement laundry tub and install a new single plastic laundry tub including new faucet and washer valves and connecting the drain. Move the gas dryer to the other side of the new tub so that there would be a shorter, more direct vent to the outside; this included new gas piping and shortening the ductwork. Replace the leaking shut-off valve before the water meter. Snake the main sewer line as a preventative/maintenance measure. Replace the drain pipe on a bathroom sink so it would be up-to-code. Check the natural gas connector on the kitchen range/stove.

I called for an appt. on one day and they were able to come the next day. They arrived promptly at the scheduled time (no: "between noon and 4--they set a specific time of 1 pm) and got right to work. They worked quickly and were able to do what I needed, in addition to suggesting replacing the washer from the non-leaking faucet handle as well as the leaking one (made sense because it is quite old). They were not able to snake out the bathtub because of a sealed drain, but gave me the suggestion of a product to use to help the sluggishness (which isn't even sluggish any more because of the chemical that they used). Cleaned up after themselves. I do not know how much plumbers charge so I really don't know if their price was fair. It seemed like a lot to me, but, on the other hand, I am glad to have the work finished and was happy to pay such a professional company.

I installed a toilet about 3 months ago, thinking I actually did a good job. To my surprise when I went to get the Halloween decorations in the storage area below I noticed there was water coming from above when the toilet was flushed. I called Burkhardt Plumbing and they were out the next day. They were prompt & courteous. I wish I would have known how quickly and efficiently I could have had my toilet installed in the beginning because I could have saved myself a lot of time and aggravation.

We had a clog in our kitchen drain, which we were unable to remove ourselves with plunging and chemical drain cleaners. I called on a Friday morning. Burkhardt plumbers arrived at my house at 3:00 that day. They were polite, professional, and careful about cleanliness. It ended up being a more complicated job than just a drain, as our original 1959 plumbing was configured in a complicated way. They were very knowledgeable about figuring out how everything was put together and how to find the clog, which was in a pipe in the basement, nearly 40 feet away from the kitchen sink. After using an auger from the kitchen sink, they hit a T-joint through which the auger refused to go, so they took the auger to the basement, opened the drainage pipe that leads to the sewer pipe, and inserted the auger there. That's where the major portion of the clog was. They ran the auger up the pipe this time and got past the T-joint. After they had cleared the clog, they were very careful about cleaning the auger as they removed it from the pipe. Then they went upstairs to the kitchen and reassembled all the drain pipes under the sink, which I had removed before they came in an attempt to fix the clog myself. They did a great job! They patiently explained everything they were doing, so I could learn and better understand my house's plumbing. They explained how to prevent future clogs, what to do and what not to do. These are great guys! The next time I have a plumbing problem, I know who I'll call.

I am really pleased. Easiest, best service call since I bought this old house 4 months ago. A different company had to come out to clean out the drains a few weeks back and must have disturbed some old corrosion at the thread point resulting in a leak. That guy put some plumber's putty on it but told me it would need a permanent fix. Called Burkhardt this morning because I noticed some oozing at the putty. They didn't give an estimate up front but said the visit to look at it would be no charge. The owner's son-in-law and another young guy showed up on time, gave me 2 prices for fixes ($135 and $185). I OKed the full fix @ $185, they got the job done in a little over an hour at exactly that price. Nice, friendly, clean, straightforward. Even gave me some 2 minute advice on my toilet flapper and my washer drain without acting like it was a hassle. They were great.

Fantastic experience. Great price for all the work that was done. We would definitely recommend Burkhardt to anyone needing plumbing work.
Description of Work: Chris actually performed two jobs for us. First, we needed galvanized pipe replaced with copper to eliminate our rusty water problem. The plumbers who did the job were efficient and professional. We also needed a new faucet installed in our kitchen about 6 months later, and Chris was again very responsive and was able to come the next day. I called a number of companies and Chris was one of the few that answered my call right away, could come the next day, and gave me a very good price (a few other licensed plumbers wanted $850--1200). He also agreed to do the pickup and delivery for $50, while some wouldn't consider it at all. He answered my questions and arranged to come the next day between 1 and 1:30 pm. At 2:15 pm I hadn't heard anything so I called him and he said he would be at my home in about 20 minutes, which he was with an assistant who did most of the labor (slight lateness and no call led me to give him a B for punctuality, but it was quite minor). I had drained the old heater, but they made sure it was completely empty, quickly disassembled it and got it into their van. We then headed to the nearby store. Chris was very patient when the store didn't have the replacement ready immediately as they had said they would when I had called a half hour before. We returned, and they put in the new water heater rather quickly, making sure that the things that weren't working on the old one did work on this one. Both of them were pleasant. Clean up was fine. No question, I'd hire Chris and crew again.
Description of Work: Replaced a water heater with an exact duplicate (the old one had broken in 5 months). Also went with me to trade the defective water heater for a new one at the original store.
