I couldn't be there when he came out, so I asked for the quote to be sent or left for me (commercial building). I didn't receive anything, so I called the following week. I received a call back. They apologized as the caller thought I had been called. He explained that given the scope of the work and the late time of year, they would not be able to schedule the work for this fall, due to heavy schedules already. He also explained what should be done (gutters) to prevent this from continuing, as any work would be subject to additional damage. He offered the name of another company that may be able to due the work this fall.

Robert Ebert provided an estimate ($1850) within a few days of my initial phone call. I selected a different mason because the prices were close and the other mason provided a warranty. (They both had A ratings on Angie's List.) The warranty seems to be the differentiator.
Description of Work: I had 4 masons bid the job to repair/rebuild my 30 year old chimney. It was originally built with "Chicago Brick." Apparently, it was a popular chimney building material 30 years ago. It deteriorates and chips off. I also had at least 1 cracked flu tile. All of the masons came to do the estimate while I was not home so I did not meet them or get to discuss the job in person (or on the phone.) They submitted their bids in the mail. The only thing I could consider in my decision is what was specifically listed (or not listed) on the bid sheet. There was no discussion to explain and "sell" their services.

Robert was very prompt with an estimate last fall. It was too cold to do the project then, but he scheduled me for as early as possible in the spring for the foundation work. That work was done in April before damage to plants around the foundation would become an issue. The chimney work was done later when the ground was dry enough to support scaffolding. Robert was wonderful to work with; came when he said he would; finished the work in a timely manner; cleaned up beautifully and did excellent work.
Description of Work: Tuckpointed both my foundation and my chimney.

The project went well. I received a bid for the project at the end of March and I thought I would have to wait until the end of May for the work to be done. However, Robert called before the end of April to let me know he would be able to start the work the next day. The quality of the work was excellent.

Someone responded within 48 hours of our first call. The estimate was done within the week and they started right when they said they would. They spent the better part of three days doing demolition, rebuilding and finishing. They double checked all the details with us before doing anything permanent. They cleaned up all the debris and left it looking gorgeous.
Description of Work: We had our front steps replaced because they were cracked and crumbling. They were beyond patching or repair. So Bruce Industrial broke up and completely removed the old steps and fully replaced them.

Bruce Industrial responded promptly to my phone message asking for an estimate on repairing our leaning and damaged basement bulkhead/retaining wall. Bob was able to come out for an estimate within a week. He was exceptionally nice and knowledgeable, and he even made suggestions for how to minimize costs without compromising quality. I was actually looking forward to working with him! Imagine my disappointment, then, when he never sent us an estimate.

Robert did a prompt and thorough estimate, explaining the challenges in the job and the potential problems in matching the new bricks to the old ones. By the time we got back to him with the go ahead to do the job. Our fault. He was only able to schedule us for very near the end of the season. But he was able to do the work exactly when he said he would. The work took 3 days, with a day or 2 between for curing and bad weather this is Minnesota in November after all. But each night he let me know how it was going and when he would return. Then he cleaned everything up and wrapped the buttresses up so thoroughly they looked like they were snug in their beds! The finished job is perfect, the bricks match really well and Robert was a pleasure to work with. The man is an artist! We hope to have him out next year to take care of some small issues on the rest of the house.
Description of Work: Clean and tuck-point the brick buttresses on our home. This also involved replacing some damaged bricks and tearing down and rebuilding one area. Caulking the joints between the house and the buttresses.

Great experience, although he is so busy it might take a little time between the initial call to estimate, to actual work. He does his best to make it a timely project and does such good work that it is worth any wait you might encounter.
Description of Work: Robert came out and gave me an estimate to repair the brick and do some tuckpointing. He was able to do the work sooner than expected although I was out of town. He did a great job and sent me a bill which I paid. He did a great job and you can't tell the old from the new. He is excellent.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Several years ago we paid another company twice as much to do a similar job, and they did poor quality work. Bruce Industrial, which as far as I can tell is really just two guys. They were prompt, affordable and most importantly the work is outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. In fact, our neighbor saw the completed job and will likely hire them to complete similar work.

Robert put a lot of work into the project, and obviously takes great pride in his craft. He was on time, easy to work with and friendly. He was very self-sufficient; I didn't have to be there for the job, all he needed was water and electricity. I think I got more than my money's worth, considering it was two full days of work.
Description of Work: Robert came out and repaired brick steps in front of the house. The steps are old and all brick, with four steps. Time and water had loosened up the mortar and the steps were basically falling apart. Robert needed to take about 1/4 of the steps apart, clean up the bricks, and reset them. Plus there is a railing that had come out and needed to be reset. It was two days worth of work, and in the end, I'd say he did an excellent job.

Loved Bob's work. He was timely and did his work in a couple of days. Cleaned up after himself. Always let me know what was going on. I paid $250 down in May was told he would do the work beginning of July. Got a phone call right after the 4th telling me that he was finishing up two jobs and then I would be next. I like the fact that he kept me informed on what was going on. I definitely would use him again.

Robert came out to our home an provided a detailed estimate. Estimate was given at the end of April, work completed at the end of June. Unfortunately, the brick that was on the home was over 25 years old and was not made any longer. Robert did he best to find us simular brick that could be used as a replacement (5 choices). After my husband and I made our choice we asked Robert for his advice as we both had selected different patterns. Robert matched with my husbands choice. Robert arrived at our home as scheduled in the afternoon. The job was completed the following day and it looks wonderful. He did a great job.
Description of Work: Brick work in front of our home had fallen, due to a new concrete driveway installation. They needed to repair the lower half of the brick that was missing between the front door and garage.

Fantastic workmanship!! Everyone else we called said we would have to use Norman brick in a similar color--which would have looked terrible. Robert suggested that we use brick from the matching planter at the front of our house, and then he found a very similar brick to rebuild the planter. The perfect solution. He worked rain or shine, and was very professional too. Price was exactly as quoted. He cleaned everything up when done. I can't say enough about Robert and the job he did. I strongly recommend.
Description of Work: Our 1953 home is constructed of red roman brick-- which you can't find anymore. Chimney needed work to repair crack and bring up to code. Repair work included having to remove and replace several rows of crumbling brick. Our chimney is also a huge architectural feature-- taking up much of the front of our house. It was critical that the brick used matched.

Robert was prompt in returning my initial call, punctual to the appointment, thoughtful in his suggestions as to how the work could best be done and professional. From the start, Robert was unsure as to whether or not he would be able to do my job in the time frame in which it needed to be done. When it was clear to him that he could not complete the work in the time frame that I required, he was very courteous in promptly notifying me that he was unavailable prior to me potentially hiring him. My experience with Robert was very positive. In the past, most subcontractors would not notify me once it was apparent to them that they would not be performing the work.

WE ORIGINALLY CONTACTED BRUCE INDUSTRIAL IN JUNE AND WE WAITED UNTIL SEPTEMBER FOR THE WORK TO START. ROBERT IS DEFINITELY A HARD WORKER AND COMMUNICATES VERY WELL. HE ALSO MAKES SURE THAT THE JOB IS DONE RIGHT. THE ONLY CRITICISM THAT I CAN SAY IS THAT THE NEW MORTAR REALLY STANDS OUT FROM THE REST OF THE HOUSE. THIS IS BECAUSE A PREVIOUS OWNER PAINTED THE BRICK. I WAS HOPING THAT HE COULD SOME HOW DARKENED THE MORTAR PRIOR TO RE-BUILDING THE WALL.
