My brick-faced front steps needed repair and my front door threshold needed to be replaced (water was leaking under the threshold into the basement wall underneath the threshold and steps). The job included 1 step and an 8 ft x 3 ft landing (2 steps total). I got 3 quotes for the job from different contractors. The first estimate was was from Hage Contractors. They gave me a $7000 quote to replace the steps with a 50 year warranty. The second quote was for $3000 from a second contractor to replace the steps. This contractor did not return my phone calls when I repeatedly tried to contact him to follow up. I had spent 3-4 months searching for someone to do the work at a reasonable price and finally found Robert Ebert in mid-October. He responded very quickly to my request for a quote. Robert surprised me by suggesting that I repair, not replace, the steps and told me he could do the work until there was measurable snow or low temperatures. He gave me a quote of ~$850 to rebuild the first step and repair the landing. When I asked if he could remove additional bricks so that the threshold could be replaced, Robert said that would not be a problem and coordinated the work with my handyman. He charged a minimal amount ($100) for this extra work. Robert finished the work within 1-2 weeks after I first contacted him and 1 day before our first measurable snow. The quality of his work was EXCELLENT and an AMAZING value! Robert communicates extremely well so I knew what was happening at every juncture. I strongly recommend this company to anyone. I will definitely hire Robert again if I need this type of work in the future. I have already recommended him to some of my friends.

I solicited bids from Robert at Bruce Industrial and three other contractors to replace the brick buttresses on my home and repair the porch foundation. The complicating factor is that our home is 100 years old and has Roman style bricks which are now difficult to find. One contractor said they weren't available and the two others encouraged me to settle for conventional bricks. However, Robert surveyed a number of sources before finding one that could order this style of brick. His work ended up looking so good that we decided to not paint the replaced buttresses as had been our initial intent.

It turned out fine, just perfect. We have an old English scooter house and the steps were original to the house. They had stone that started to crumble. The gentleman from Bruce Industrial went and found stone that matched the old stone and carved it to fit irregular pieces. We wanted to have the same look like we had before. It was the first time we had them out. We took only two bids and theirs was cheaper.

I discovered this spring that the winter was not kind to the exposed foundation on one side of my house as 2 of them had split off and the mortar was also in bad shape. So I called and asked them to do an estimate, the person I spoke to knew from what I described what the problem was, so he came out and took a look. He seemed knowledgeable about what needed to done, so I scheduled the work. He came out on the day he said would and got it done (I did not need to be there). He went the extra mile and also patched up a hole by the garage that I had forgotten about at no extra charge. All in all he did a great job!

They guy who did the work was Robert Ebert. That was his last outside job of the year because the weather was getting cold, so we were very lucky to get in. The work was outstanding. The best contractor I've ever used. Toitally satisfactory in everything. The quality of work was great, and he was a nice guy to have on the property. His bid most closely matched the things that I needed, and he was the lowest estimate. He identified an area that needed repaired that I had not seen, and we included that in the job.
Description of Work: They did some tuckpointing work and general cement work. They repaired an area beside the driveway and the cement area behind the building. They did some water sealing between the driveway and the building, They did some caulking, cementing, and brick repair.

Robert came out to give an estimate. He was professional and took the time to hear what I needed to have done. He was knowledgeable and took his time measuring to give me the most accurate estimate. His estimate was timely and was able to start work within two weeks. He was willing to break the bid into parts and was willing to the work in parts as i could afford. His work and work ethic are second to none. He was kind and explained everything he was going to do. I am blown away with the work he did. He even came back an extra day to ensure no cracking and to haul away concrete and clean up. He warranties his work for 1 year. I cannot say enough good things about Robert. I would highly recommend.

Robert was very personable and explained everything he planned on doing and followed through with his commitments. He even came the following spring to repair some mortar that had been damaged from water leaking from a defective gutter at no charge, and proceeded to explain how to prevent a reoccurence. The only minor concerns I had were a few areas where the mortar was left on the brick and a fair amount of mortar ended up in my yard, sometimes away from the brick work.

Robert did a great job. He responded to every question and phone call, and described what he would do in detail. As he worked on the walls, he gave us an update every we saw him. He also cleaned up the work area each day. Overall, we were very pleased with the work he did.
Description of Work: Fixed two stone walls which were leaning away from the house. He had to take them down, chip away the old mortar, and then put them up again. He also tuck pointed the parts of the wall that he did not take down so that the overall wall had a unified look. He also repaired some cracks in the surrounding wall concrete and replaced a few stones that were missing from the wall.

Signed contract late fall 2008, so job couldn't be completed until spring 2009 due to weather. Robert called late winter to confirm I was in his work queue and then again to keep me apprised as to the actual work dates. He tried his best to match the brick. He made an extra trip to drop off brick samples for me to look at. He communicated in advance about the need to replace a cracked flue tile which would be an additional cost. Job completed very satisfactorily.

Robert replaced several chimney bricks that were in various stages of popping out. He matched the existing brick and mortar very well - using a grey mortar to match the old existing mortar. Overall, it was a nice job. However, on close inspection, I noticed that some roof shingles at the site of work were damaged. Additionally, I was away on vacation for 5 days when the work was done so I don't know exactly how it happened, but when I came home a large patch (aprox 4' x 2') section of grass on my front lawn was dead. It was quite noticable and not there when I left. My neighbor who watered my flowers while I was gone, told me that Robert had laid his working material on the lawn. The sidewalk leading to the front door was just a couple feet from the dead grass patch and that could have been used to store the material instead. I left Robert a voice message explaning my disappointment over the dead grass (I hadn't seen the damaged shingles at that point) and didn't get a response back from him - but I wasn't exactly expecting one. Found a few pieces of mortar in the flowers/garden, sidewalk etc... Don't know if this is to be expected or not.

He did an excellent job. He ran into a problem with the outside wall--it needed more work than expcted. He fixed it without a big fuss. He did the job the right way: he dug the earth away from the foundation to do the tuckpointing on the exterior. He arrived on time, was pleasant, took pride in what he was doing, and cleaned up after himself. Great to work with.

Work was done quickly, professionally and looks brand new! Even though he underestimated the work needed to fix the last badly repaired section, he took the extra time to redo the footings under that section and the repair should now be permanent. He did not adjust his price for this extra work, but stuck to his bid.

Robert's customer service is amazing! I got three estimates for the job - 2 others wanted to replace the chimney, but Robert just wanted to tuck-point it. When he got on the roof, he discovered that he had sent me an estimate for a different house he'd looked at, and the chimney did need to be replaced. However, he stuck to his original estimate! The work was done promptly, Robert kept me updated on the progress, and the site was left very clean. For him to keep to his original estimate when I'm sure the work ended up losing him money impresses me and restores my faith in humanity. I will recommend Robert highly.
