First things first...Paul actually showed up, although he was 15 minutes late due to car trouble. The quality of his work was excellent. I was worried about the new brick matching the old, but he matched it very well. He was extremely professional. The job site was cleaned up when he was done. His price was not the lowest, but it was close. He showed up to give a bid exactly when he said he would. Communication throughout the project was superb. What I really liked is that when Paul ran into a few unexpected problems, he didn't try to up the price. He stuck to the bid even though the job ended up costing him a bit more time and money. Something was broken when he opened the chimney up so he had to run out and get a new piece. Another issue was hornets living in the chimney. He just dealt with them and moved on. He had a very good attitude and was very trustworthy. Overall, I am extremely happy with the job Paul did and I would not hesitate to use him again.
Description of Work: Paul tore down and replaced the top five rows of brick on our chimney.

My experience sounds very similar to a previous review for this company. Paul Hill, the owner, was very responsive to our initial call, had a good sales pitch, came across as very knowledgeable. He sent us a decent estimate and he showed up to work when he said he would. At first. Our project was supposed to take one week. He worked for a few days and then went AWOL. We called and emailed him several times and approximately a week and a half later he called us back. He came back to work for a few days and has now been AWOL again for over a week. He does not respond to us. He updates his voicemail daily saying he is working in "the field" but he is obviously working on someone else's house. We paid him half of the fee and he has not done that amount of work. It has been over a month on a job that was supposed to take one week and our basement is all torn up and we are left scrambling to find someone to finish this job before winter comes. Buyer beware - do not use this company.

Started great! Paul is a good communicator and knows brickwork. This comes through during the sales pitch. Started on job the next day. Two other guys started the demolition while Paul went to the "brickyard" to get matching bricks. This caused me some concern. "What if he doesn't find matching bricks and I have demolished chimneys?!?" Paul did find relatively matching brick - we are satisfied - and over the balance of that day the chimneys were rebuilt. The following day, Paul and another guy were back to pour the cement caps at the tops of the chimneys. So, the bricks are up and cement caps are in place. Looks good! My 2 year old black shingles around the chimneys show obvious signs of repair work. Even with all the rain that we have had since, the cement product on them does not wash off. In hindsight, I should have been adamant that they lay down drop cloths on the roof around the chimneys as they worked. 3 weeks later, Paul returned (after calls prompting him) to finish the project's brickwork by cutting out and replacing the few deteriorating bricks at the bottom of the large chimney. 4 weeks later, Paul returned to put a metal cap on the pipe within the smaller chimney as was part of the original deal. In sum, his brickwork is fine to my novice eye but cleanliness of the project (cement on roof) and responsiveness to the project (total time taken) need improvement.
Description of Work: Tore down and rebuilt 8-10 courses of brick at the top of two chimneys. On the largest chimney, cut out and replaced a few bricks at the bottom that were deteriorating.

This was a terrible experience. Paul and his buddy gave us a good bid on the project and we were a relatively small project but they were very random in showing up. This project went on forever and they never cleaned up after themselves. The work turned out OK but we have had water leaking into our garage ever since and are now dealing with damage and mold in an interior wall because they failed to caulk between the siding and the brick that they installed. We noticed wet carpeting in the corner on the dining room and climbed up on a ladder to look at where the brick joined the siding. There is a two inch gap and water has been pouring down the roof into the gap. We are having to remove the sheet rock in our dining room to deal with mold. ARGGH!!!
