I have a hill in my backyard that directs water right toward the house and sometimes into the basement, especially during the spring thaw. I asked a couple contractors to come out, assess the situation and provide an estimate for what was needed to keep the water away from the house. The other contractors spent more time talking about what their competition would tell me than what they would do to fix the problem. I liked Eden Bluhm instantly because he was a straight talker. No sales pitch, no rambling about the competition, just a clear description of all the options (regrading, French drain, tree removal, etc). Unlike the other guys, he told me I really didn't need to do it all to solve the problem. He recommended regrading so the water would move from one side of the backyard to the other, out to the side of the house, and down to the street. He also agreed to remove a bunch of overgrown brush and old stone terracing. The crew was excellent. They did exactly what Eden and I discussed. They worked long hours to complete the job in one day instead of the two that was estimated. To get to my backyard the crew needed to go through my neighbor's yard. They were very respectful and laid down boards all the way from the street to the back to protect my neighbor's yard. When they left you never knew they were there. I was really happy with the end result. It looked great. However, the real test came in the spring when all the snow started melting. It worked just as Eden had described. I saw a little stream of water moving across the yard, around the side of the house, and out to the street. It was a beautiful thing. I would definitely hire these guys again.

They showed up a day early. Work appears to be done correctly but I will not know until the first real rain. Eden and John were easy to work with.

They worked around issues we had in scheduling the sprinkler work, and it all worked out great. They did an incredible job and it looks amazing. We'd definitely use them again.

Absolutely the best! From the first contact through completion of the job, the Bluhm Brothers did the job in a very professional way. The brothers have divided the responsibility and they all do their part in a super way. I was REALLY impressed by the way John ran the crew and kept everybody on task. They worked hard and got the job done in minimal time.

I feel that the provider really did not want the job, and estimate extremely. I found another provide, outside of the Angie's List network that completed the work for 400.00, and did an excellent job.

Tuesday, July 9th seems like it is the only day it rained following the big storms. Thankfully our yard and trees were spared from damage at the end of June. I was worried at first because the crew was supposed to arrive at 730 and I got a call from Eden about 20 minutes after the arrival time to say they were going to wait out the rain. He told me they would show up at 1030 and he was right on. Eden and John showed up and took a tour of job, did final measurements and I left for work. When I got back around 6 pm the crew was 85% done and the yard looked amazing. While there are a few seams that have me concerned, I texted Eden and he said to let him know if I'm still concerned after the time frame. I followed their care instructions and overall the yard is great. I would recommend Bluhm Brothers to friends and family because if you follow their care instructions and put the time in to water the sod it all works out. They are good guys and I felt like I got what I paid for from them.

We were extremely unhappy with each contact with the representative. When he first called in response to our inquiry he blamed his receptionist for not giving him the correct phone number to call. He was abrupt and must not have made a note of the correct number, because when he was calling to say he was on his way he again called the incorrect number. In our meeting it was clear that he was only interested in the job if he could tear out all the existing work and start over. We finally suggested he should leave and not stay and try to sell us a product we did not want.

It was not great but he didn't really put into consideration some of my wife's suggestions. He just basically went with what he thought was better. The sketch was nice but it isn't what we wanted. I didn't take an action on it. There were no additional charges. Looking at what he provided, it's sort of a typical layout for a house of our shape. He was pleasant.

It was fine but it was too much money. They gave me a rough estimate of how much it would be and it seemed like it was going to be more than I wanted to pay. They showed up when the said they would and it was fine. I would use them again only if I have the money.

They sent over a contract person to do the plans, but when I tried to get back to him with my comments he was no longer doing work for them. I did not have the time or inclination to try to track down someone at the company.

It was GREAT!!! Eden was great and responsive, always made sure I was happy, Jared was great on the job and made sure everything was done to my liking. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was done well and were prompt and respectful. So glad we went with them!

They took out our yard on Tuesday and by Thrusday we had a new sprinkler system and new sod. Due to the rainy spring we have been having they came back out on Weds to put down tarps so that the ground wouldn't be too muddy to work on Thursday. The yard look amazing.

The lawn looked beautiful, but I wanted to wait until spring to see how it survived the snow and winter. A strip of sod on the boulevard along the sidewalk did not come in, which I understand may have been caused by winter burn. Otherwise, the grass came in plush and green in all the other areas and I was very pleased. . . until the crops of mushrooms started coming in the first week of June. They are now spreading and appearing in new areas every day - and ONLY in the new sod. I Googled this problem, and also decided to contact the business owner, Eden Bluhm, to report it to him. He explained that the heavy rains contributed to this fungus growth, which I knew. I asked what I should do and explained that these crops of mushrooms are ONLY appearing in the sodded areas and I wondered if the sod was bad. He didn't have an answer except that his was only a landscaping business and they were not horticulturists and he didn't know. Then he explained what his wife does to their lawn when it has mushrooms or sparse areas grass growth - which wasn't exactly the response I was looking for. His final statement was that if mine had been his 3rd or 4th call of concern about the sod, he might be worried, but mine was his first call. So, I am left with suggestions from internet sites that I manually pull up the mushrooms before mowing so the mower doesn't throw mushroom spores across the rest of the lawn, creating a greater problem. I wouldn't use this company again and I wouldn't recommend this company.

Didn't hire - sounded like they knew what they were talking about, but way over priced. Didn't come out to give an estimate in person. Wanted me to confirm the measurement - that's why I wanted a professional in the first place.

I found Bluhm Brothers Landscaping Inc on Angie's List. He is timely and he made a plan on site and he gave me a fair estimate and told me what they were going to do and how they were going to do the job and how long it would take. He was very personable and wasn't high pressure at all, he just said I should call him whenever I was ready.

I met with them last year but at the end there was a change and I couldn't afford to do the work. So I pushed it off and then I re-contacted them this year. And they are doing it right now. They gave me a quote. The quote experience was very well. In fact what was very impressive about them is that in the first meeting they gave me a full diagram of the work and a full, complete quote; very well thought out. A better estimate than I would have originally expected to get from them. Very professional, very positive demeanor. The original process took place literally a year ago and then I brought them out and revived the plan and got a re-quote. That happened 3 weeks ago. They are pulling out old landscaping and then re-grading my yard to make sure it has a proper flow away from the house. Basically what it means is they scrape off the whole top layer and they put new dirt down to make sure it's angled the right way away from the house. And then as they are doing that they are re-putting my flower beds and re-sod the whole yard. So it's landscaping but it's also for proper irrigation purposes. So I guess irrigation in a sense but it's re-grading.

Extermely punctual for an early morning start time. All completed in a single day. Was very friendly and allowed us to have input on how the beds would curve, etc, but also provided guidance as to what would look best.

The Bluhm brothers were excellent to work with. Eden came out a couple times before i decided to go with them and was very patient with all of my questions. This was my first major investment at my home and Eden did a great job in walking through the detailed estimate and breaking it up so I could decide how to budget and prioritize what I wanted to get done. He helped me save a few dollars too by using existing bullet pavers where they could and splitting existing hostas and replanting them in my backyard. eWhen it came time for the work to be done I was shocked at how quick and efficient they were. Rather than extend the project over several days they brought a full crew to get it done quicker. The end result was a great looking retaining wall, new walkway and well thought out landscaping. I have since had multiple compliments on my walkway and the over all improvements to my hard scrapes and landscapes.

I was really unimpressed with the amount of effort they put into it and the quality of the output. It didn't seem like he put a lot of thought into my personal experience. We specifically talked about some things and they didn't provide solutions for it. It didn't seem personalized at all.

Landscape Designer came out to discuss my ideas for a new retaining wall. I communicated my ideas and the unusual placement requirements of the wall. The designer then took some pictures and measurements of my landscape . After several weeks, he emailed me a rough drawing . The drawing did not incorporate my requirements. He attempted to revise the rough drawing several times, which each time took weeks of follow up calls by me. But, his revised drawings did not incorporate my wall placement requirements either. Therefore, I decided to end the relationship

It went smoothly. They even did some extra trimming on another tree.

The soil in the backyard was regraded to ensure proper water drainage to the alley. The simple landscaping was plotted by their planner and the project completed in two days. The workers were efficient, pleasant and hard working. We value their advice and attention to details.

I have used these guys for snow removal for two winters and they are fabulous! Prompt. Well done. And they come back and clear what the snow plow leaves!
