We are a two man crew that specializes in masonry repair and restoration. We do the bids for you and we do the actual work on your home. There is no other crew that is sent out to your house with a list of instructions. If you have any questions, we are there. There is no "office" to check in with and wait for an answer.
Mike is a professional who is passionate about chimney repair. Our chimney has been crumbling and required a full tear down. Mike was wonderful to work with from start to finish. He is fair and honest in his quoting and pricing process. His work is top notch and beautiful. We have received so many compliments about his work. I will be recommending to any family and friends in need of chimney repair. (Picture shows the plastic wrap that will be removed shortly)

He rebuilt part of our chimney, and new cap in 2007. Now, in 2017, I have had to have all of it redone! It crumbled! The job was done by a crew from out of the country, (which did not matter to me), except for the fact, they were not trained properly to do the work. Bottom line is, it was done incorrectly!!

Response from Bechard Masonry
There are some facts in this review that are not true. Please refer to [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] previous review of my work which was done approximately from 1998 - 2000, not 2017. The job was not done by a crew from "out of the country".

I received an estimate on my chimney after having some stucco fall off due to deteriorating brick behind the stucco on my 1929 home. My options were to repair the brick either only as far as the water had damaged it, or to do a full tear down and rebuild of the chimney. I opted to go with the full tear down and rebuild The work started on my house a couple weeks after deciding which repair to do. I shared with Mike my design ideas prior to the work starting and he pointed out some additional details that would make my chimney really stand out. Since the job was a rather major job, he ended up working with his former business partner at Bjugstad Masonry, who also happened to be named Mike. The Mike's (as they became known as at my home) were incredibly professional. They were always both at my house between 6:30-7:00 AM daily and would typically stay until between 5:00-6:00 PM. They would get everything ready so when 8:00 hit, if they had to make noise, they were ready to go. They always cleaned up at the end of the day as if they were never there and also took very good care of my home when weather hit during the project. As they were going through the rebuild of the chimney, they were very easy to talk with about design ideas as either they would think of something that would look nice, or if I had something specific that I wanted to see. They rolled with EVERY idea I tossed at them and gave me their ideas that would make my idea stand out even more. Adding to the detail, I had a chimulator installed for one of my fireplaces and they noticed that one chimney cap was stainless steel and the other was black. They insisted that they match and searched the town for another stainless chimney cap to match my chimulator. Who would have known that it would be tough to find a plain stainless chimney cap?!? I am so incredibly happy with the work these guys did. Their attention to detail, explanation of the process, and willingness to do extras that I would ask for were incredible. These guys are true artists and amazingly hard workers! I would recommend them for any masonry job and already have been referring them. This has to have been the best construction experience that I have ever had while owning a home. They made my old home a true focal point on the block.

It went great! He was here when he said he would be. Crew was great! Work was great! Everything was cleaned up. It was done in the year 2000, and 13 years later and it still looks great! :-) Excellent person for the job back then, and we would hire him today!
Description of Work: We hired Mike many years ago, before Angie's List was around. He rebuilt our chimney, and replaced the flashing, etc. He was wonderful! Since that time, I've given his name to so many people, I can't count. I don't remember what we paid...it was too long ago now. He is the only person we will refer anyone to forever! :-)

Where there were cracked bricks from water damage, Michael Bechard repaired my 55 year-old brick wall back to its original appearance. I recommend him highly to all for his fine detailed work.

We had been talking about adding stone around our fireplace for a number of years, and finally decided to get some bids for the work. We received bids from five different contractors. While Mike Bechard's bid was in the mid-range of all five, it wasn't the bid that was the deciding factor to use his company-it was the way he approached his work. Upon meeting Mike, my husband I were struck by his attention to detail and willingness to explain the work. We asked lots of questions and Mike patiently and thoroughly answered each one. As we talked about the project, he discovered that the addition of the stone would cause some problems for the surrounding cabinetry, and agreed to remove the drywall and reframe the fireplace so that the cabinet doors could open properly. It was clear during the installation that Mike was not only a mason, but an artist. His eye for detail and careful attention was evident throughout the project. In fact, a decorator who had been working with us on a different project in our home was impressed with the creative, fluid design of the stone. Since our fireplace is in the center of our home, Mike was forced to contend with our four sons as well as the family pet, who took an instant liking to him. Mike cheerfully side stepped our daily activities and was somehow able to complete the job on time and on budget with our dog shadowing his every move.

I had been looking for someone to do this repair for several years. There seem to be few tuckpoint businesses and very few want to do a small job. I used this company for chimney repair previously. When Mr. Bechard came to do the estimate, he photographed the places that needed repair to be sure he had a good record. He pointed out one place where using mortar wasn't going to work. He sent the estimate by email which was convenient for me. I had asked him to schedule the job after I had some bushes removed from the front of the house and before the landscapers came to plant new ones. He called during that interval and arranged to come the next day. He came with the person who did the work showed him what needed to be done. It took a morning to complete the work. Not only were all the places fixed, but he had added some mortar on the window wells which we hadn't discussed. A great experience, start to finish.
Description of Work: We had repairs to the soldier course (of brick) at the foundation level of the house. There were 7 or 8 places the the corners of the house where the mortar had failed and some where the brick had fallen out.

Two of my neighbors were considering using this company for chimney repair. Since a handyman had told me I needed some chimney work, I contacted them also. My first message did not get a response, but when he called in response to a second one, he apologized and explained that the message got mislaid. He scheduled a appointment for estimating the job, came on time and explained what he proposed to do. (He explained the procedure again to a friend whose background is better than mine.) The height of the chimney required a scaffold, so I agree to have him do the work when he did the other two houses. He gave me a written estimate, applied for the work permit and completed the job when the weather and other scheduling permitted. The work was carefully done--as far as I can tell--I didn't go up to see. He cleaned up thoroughly. He was professional and friendly as was his partner,
Description of Work: They removed the chimney cap and replaced it with new concrete and a two inch overhang.
