We did not always agree on how I should organize my office area and personal papers which meant she was unable to help me with this aspect of organizing my home.
Description of Work: I needed help decluttering and downsizing my home. Barbara was very flexible in helping me to tackle a variety of areas of my home. She had many good ideas for placing items in a user friendly way so that I was not constantly looking for things. She helped me a couple of times when I had family coming from out of town so I could accommodate and entertain them in a small home. She was flexible and considerate when I was unable to follow through on plans for health reasons. She has some very good ideas for chemical free cleaning which I have adopted.

Barbara is very helpful and has great ideas for how to arrange a room. She is totally non-judgmental, toward those of us who have too much stuff. I scheduled an appointment with Barbara at my apartment in Uptown. She was 20 minutes late. I called her cell phone at 10 minutes after the scheduled time, and she was very upset at me about the difficulty parking (there are several public ramps nearby). She also had difficulty using the door comm to get into the building. When I went down to let her in, she was unprofessional and again blamed me for the parking. I felt very uncomfortable with the idea of her being in my apartment, and apologized for having her come out, but didn't go through with the appointment. I'm not so upset about the lateness, but failing to call me when the parking issue first became apparent and being unprofessional on the phone and in person were serious problems. I was not willing to have someone so judgmental and unpleasant help me with organizing.

Barbara was very kind from our first phone call. She was confident and reassuring that there would be no judgment because she has seen everything. She arrived on time, and was ready to get to work. We waded through the back corner of my basement, and when my brain started to get overwhelmed she helped me focus. She had ideas for hanging things and keeping things free from moisture. She gave me a great jumpstart that inspired me to keep going on my own.

Spent four hours a day, two days in a row. Was well worth it. Now I can find the books I am looking for without having to search through hundreds of books.
Description of Work: Helped me sort books for donation, keeping, and organize the keepers into subjects. Involved six tall bookcases, and 3 shorter ones. My estimate is that with her help I found 12-30 books in each of twelve categories--and I was able to donate over 100 books besides. She helps me with things I never get to without some help. She has a good eye for making things pretty and neat looking too.

She came over on time. was very helpful without being judgmental. I had a very cluttered sun room in my house and she gave me some advice when I asked for it. I had felt so overwhelmed that I did not know where to even start. she started out by starting to clean the room and clear it out as she went. She bagged the trash and asked me when ever there was something that might be useful. I donated some things that I no longer needed ( or wanted) but were still useful. and she organized the things I wanted to keep. .She worked for 4 hours - Took out the trash and took the items to be donated to Savers for me (so I did not have too!) (she would have worked longer that day but I had other things I had to do so we scheduled her to come back over the next week (she was booked with other clients too.) She did such a good job that I had her come back the next week and help to clean and organize a back bed room as well.The room had become an unintentional storage room for all kinds of stuff. she took many bags of clothes too Savers from that room. She did a very good job and we worked on that room for another 4 hours. I feel it was money and time well spent she is a hard worker and gets a lot done !! - She is also willing to work on your time schedule.

I called Barbara, arranged to have her review the project, hired her to perform services assisting me in cleaning up and arranging things in my home, including closets, living areas and basement. She advised me in how to arrange things more efficiently and neatly and assisted me in doing so. The areas whe reorganized have remained neat and are efficient to manage.

Excellent service, excellent price, she likes helping people organize - a process that I find completely overwhelming. I'll definitely call her back for more help in the future.
Description of Work: Barbara came twice. First visit was to help me organize. We worked side by side, and she was efficient, quick, and had good ideas. I would never have gotten this work done without her. Second visit she came back and cleaned the space we had organized. She was very thorough; she did a much better job than I would have done.

Barbara did a great job of cleaning our house. My husband is now walking around saying "I love our house, I love our house!" The only challenge is that if my son or I spill something, it is much more noticeable now - so my husband is right there saying, "You see that mess, right? You are going to clean that up now, right?!" ;-) Barbara did a great job and we will use her again in the future!

Barbara is flexible. If I make an appointment, and I find that the time doesn't work for me, she doesn't make me feel bad, and she reschedules the work. If I get tired, she will suggest a plan for her work while I just veg out while she goes to it, and when she is done, that area of the house, which formerly looked cluttered and chaotic, looks great. She suggests not throwing out things if in doubt. You never regret doing that. I sell stuff on ebay, so I tend to have a lot of stuff around without a home. Also, whenever I take a trip, I drag out everything, and when I get home, I have a mess on my hands. Also, I tend to have way too many clothes, and I have weeded my closet many times, but still need to do more on that score. She helps me keep it all from becoming overwhelming, and will even take stuff to the Goodwill for me. She isn't afraid to roll up her sleeves and work. She isn't a stair person, but once she is on the floor we are working on, she works harder than anyone I have ever known. She is understanding of the psychology of this business, and figures out plans based on each client's own personality. She always makes you feel that she has certainly seen worse, and she always makes you feel good about yourself. She doesn't gossips about other clients, so you always feel she keeps your situation confidential. She is a true professional.
Description of Work: I have had Barbara help me out many times over the past three years since I discovered her. She helps me out when I get stuck in keeping things put away properly. I am challenged in that department, and put months of dread on it until I finally call Barbara, and she comes and helps me make sense of it all, and have my place restored to beauty and grace. I love the plan she made for me. There are areas now that are off limits for accumulating stuff. Each room then has a focal point of order, a place for the eye to rest and, a place of serenity and beauty, no matter what else is going on. It works for me. This time we spent six hours, split in two days. We get a lot done in three hours, and then my brain needs a rest. She has had my place pretty well organized for the past year, but before that I hired her for several days a month until things got better. She has a helper if you need to move furniture, or get rid of a lot of stuff.

I just knew that I wanted things to be better. Barbara has been a lifesend! I have ADHD. One of the issues with ADHD is that a person does not know HOW to organize. Barbara is actually teaching me how to organize and problem-solve in my home. She has helped me create systems and "stations"...She is very non-judgemental and encouraging. I am getting my home and my life back!

We spent four days, and worked three to four hours per day. We had to decide where to place furniture, and she had an ingenious way of storing my boxes containing the parts of my doll collection which I don't display behind the bookcases. These boxes had been an eyesore clogging up my bedroom hallway for years. I also had fabric rolls, and we put them in the corner at the end of the bookcases and covered them with a lace tablecloth--so it looks really nice. She has helped me with sorting my garage stuff to keep, donate, or sell. And helped me with boxing the stuff to sell and labeling them so I can store them in the garage, but still find them when I have my garage sale. I am going to hire her to work my garage sale with me also. She has organized my first floor also and it is very attractive. She has little tricks that make any place in my house look better, and I didn't have to throw away things unless I really wanted to. She believes in this. I like the fact that she is flexible. She will reschedule the work when I need to do so, and unlike a lot of house cleaners and organizers, she will work with me on the number of hours--three to four usually. she is also very understanding of my limitations in regards to home organizing--she never made me feel embarrassed with how disorganized things had gotten in my home. I had suffered from PTSD, and had pretty much neglected this area of my life. My house wasn't dirty-just a problem of too much stuff out where it didn't belong.

It went smoothly as is always the case. Barbara knows what needs to be done next. Lots of times I think I know better, but then I find out she was right all along, and I could have accomplished the job easier and quicker her way. When I am tired of making decisions, I just go do something else, she keeps working, and when I come back I find a transformation. Sometimes she works with my husband doing lifting on Saturday or Sunday, and I can just do what I want to do. I find it is so much easier letting her take over. Barbara works her own schedule, and will work weekends as well as during the week. I find that 4 hours is a good time frame to accomplish a lot.
Description of Work: Got the garage organized enough to park my car for the winter. I hired Barbara some time ago, and she has taken me from chaos to real beauty in my rooms. Now the rooms are peaceful, and everyone comments on that fact. Barbara and her assistant, who comes when we need some heavy lifting, actually emptied my storage locker this summer, which was 12 ft by 30 ft. and we got it all into the garage and the basement, and now I can even park my car. Everything is orderly, and I can find things. There were over 500 bankers boxes and lots of other stuff, pictures, furniture in that storage locker. You can imagine what a burden that locker had become--and it cosvery expensive. This took a lot less time than I thought it would, and it only took four four hour sessions, each on a different day, at $100 per session. Her assistant hauled trash, and brought stuff in his truck to the goodwill and got us the donation slip. So essentially it only cost me one month's rent of the storage locker to get it all cleared out.

Barbara took me through this with a minimum amount of stress. She was very compassionate with me as these areas where very messy and need a lot of work. I would recommend her to anyone.

Barbara woiuld come over and spend several hours at a time - just enough time to get you started and leave time for you to accomplish more, plus give you time to rest after she left. She would tell me what needs to be done and give a reasonable estimate of how long it will take. She is good at keeping a person focused. She showed me how to use what I have more efficiently and attractively. She is good at confidence building. She is a kind and fun person to be around.

Barbara has done organizing for me many times. When my grandsons were coming for their annual visit this summer, I had to dig out my mess in all the upstairs rooms, about 1500 sq ft. We donated a lot of stuff, and organized the rest in an attractive manner. I have PTSD, and it is hard for me to do this work. Barbara makes it effortless because she does a lot of the deciding for you, unless you object. She also can soldier on when I get too tired. She will just tell me to sit there while she completes the task. She is tireless. I have always found her very easy to be around, from her first visit, and she is also a great conversationalist. She is up on current affairs, and has an understanding nature. Nothing really surprises or concerns her with my messy house. She always tells me she appreciates the organizing style I have, and says she enjoys working with me. She has an affirming ability. It makes a chore much, much less of a chore. Typically we work four to five hours a day.

I hired Barbara on a day to day basis, working a few hours each day. She did some cleaning as well. She taught me ways to make things look good and after I finished the front room, a friend came over and hadn't planned to stay, but she just sat back and said, ''This is the most beautiful and peaceful room!'' Barbara can be counted on to ask the why's and wherefor's and just know what to do in every room. I felt very comfortable working with Barbara, and this is amazing because it isn't usually the case when I have hired other people to help me. I think it is because she doesn't judge you and is such a good communicator. When I was tired, I just rested, and she worked alone with fine results.
Description of Work: After years of living with my usual messiness, I decided I needed a major change. We worked together on the whole house, and we have about 3000 sq. ft.

Barbara was great to work with. I had worked with her before and found her very efficient and knowledgeable. Together we went through everything in the basement, put the garbage in bags and began organizing everything else. She has very good ideas and is very supportive no matter the daunting task ahead! I would hire her again in a heartbeat!
