+ -1 moreEveryone was extremely helpful. They offer free estimates and will come to your home for that. I would recommend going into the store to see samples before ordering as we did. The installation went smoothly. Pierre had to come back the next day because of an additional part he needed and helped get the door secured for the night. Very professional and great quality locks.
Description of Work: Babcock & Son replaced locks on three of our exterior doors including one with a keypad deadbolt.

+ -1 moreWork was done and payment made. I was able to lock up the unit that evening. When I returned the next morning I couldn't turn the deadbolt lock. I tried for several minutes as did one of the tenants - it wouldn't budge. I contacted the provider - after a half hour I was told that they couldn't come out to look at it for over three hours. As I had the tenant coming right away with a truckload of furniture (and they needed to both return the truck and get back to work right away), I had to get the door open. The provider offered no option other than to wait. I then had to call another locksmith to come out and fix the mistake. The second locksmith found that a circular piece of the lock had been put back incorrectly and that was what was stopping the deadbolt from opening. I was charged a further $105 to fix the mistake Babcock had made.
Description of Work: Provider came out and re-keyed two locks on rental property. Provider has come out several times before to perform similar work.

+ -1 moreSuper impressed. I called Babcock & Son Security Corp. at 4pm on a Tuesday, hoping to get someone out to my house that same day. Not only were they able to come out that day, they were at my house within 30 minutes. The pizza guy can't even do that. The locksmith, Pierre, was pro. I couldn't recommend them enough!

+ -1 moreThey came promptly and were very professional. We had them install Medeco deadbolts on our (2) exterior doors. We had just moved into the house and wanted the deadbolts replaced. The former owners also failed to leave a key for the interior door handles (several door handles to rooms had locks in them). Instead of suggesting replacing the lockable handles, the locksmith just took one of the handles out off and brought it to his van. He then came back 5 minutes later with a set of keys and put the handle back on.
Description of Work: Installed Medeco deadbolts on (2) doors and made a replacement key for interior doors.

They go out of their ways to be helpful. One time, my trunk lock would not work, and it had nothing to do with the keys that they had made. But they came out and tried to help me.

Description of Work: Attempted to schedule this locksmith to install a proper lock on our garage door (the person door, not the car door). I was given a 3-hour window during which the locksmith would come. After waiting an additional 30 minutes past the window without hearing anything from the company, I called and was told they wouldn't be able to come that day because of an emergency call to another part of town. David, the scheduler, apologized and we rescheduled for another 3-hour window two days later. Three minutes before the expiration of that window, I got a call from the technician who told me he would be an hour late and that he'd only be able to provide me an estimate instead of doing the installation. Pretty disappointing because this locksmith is all of 5 blocks from our house. I would have thought that we would receive better treatment after having to reschedule the first time. I guess not.

+ -1 moreI was having a hard time finding a locksmith who was able to get here same day, as the issue was our daughter's bedroom door was closed and unable to be opened. Babcock & Sons were the only company who would make us a priority! The repair was fast and done very well. He even gave a suggestion as to where to find replacement crystal door knobs for our home. I would call these guys again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Needed an old spindle doorknob and latch repaired.

+ -1 moreThe man who answered the phone was very polite. He said that since I had 3 doors that each had a deadbolt and lock inside the door handle, it was a total of 6 cylinders/locks. The service call is $75, each cylinder is $20, and each key is $2.25. Although the prices seem competative, I decided to go with a provider that offered a substantial discount to AL members. However, I'd consider using Babcock for future work.
Description of Work: Called to get an estimate for having 6 locks re-keyed.

+ -1 morePhil was great. After calling Babcock and Son, they were able to send someone out the next day to change my locks. Phil was very prompt, courteous, and professional. He was very knowledgeable and speedy. He had both locks done in about 40-45 minutes. I'd highly recommend them and use them again in a heart beat.
Description of Work: Re pinned/keyed two locks, made the keys, and fixed a dead bolt that was difficult to lock.

+ -1 moreSuperb. Only small glitch is that the price of installation charged on site exceeded the price quoted in the shop. My wife went to the shop, chose the locks and made the arrangements and I was home for the installation. So that discrepancy was not discovered for a day or so and by that time we decided to just let it be.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced three residential locks, keying them all the same and providing the number of keys requested.

I called Babcock to re-key the house because they had re-keyed the house when I moved-in 3-years before (at my realtor's suggestion). They were out the same day. In the discussion about what I was trying to accomplish, they explained how houses were broken into and suggested deadbolts (while apologizing for it sounding like an up-sell tactic). They went to the shop to find locksets that matched existing hardware metal/color and were done in 2-hours. They even vacuumed up carefully to make sure none of the wood shaving was left on the floor. Babcock was once again performed very nice, professional, clean work.

+ -1 moreThe person who came to my house was very nice and very informative. He took time to explain the advantages of replacing my locks versus merely re-keying. However, he was not at all pushy. I decided to replace one lock with a fairly expensive set but only had new keys made for the other two locks. I later went to the shop to have more keys made. They did a great job, and I'll use them again for any future locksmith work.

BABCOCK WAS VERY HELPFUL IN EDUCATING ME AT THEIR SHOWROOM. THEY TAUGHT ME ALL ABOUT DEADBOLTS AND WHAT THE KEY FEATURES WERE. THEY WERE VERY HONEST ABOUT MY NEEDS AND DID NOT TRY TO SELL ME THE HIGHEST PRICED PRODUCTS. THEIR INSTALLATION WAS EASY TO SCHEDULE AND HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY. THE INSTALLER ASSESSED MY SECURITY NEEDS AND EVEN SWITCHED PRODUCTS WHEN HE REALIZED THAT AN INTRUDER COULD REACH THROUGH A WINDOW TO FLIP OPEN ONE DEADBOLT. THE STRIKEPLATES THEY INSTALLED ARE EXTREMELY TOUGH AND THE SCREWS GO DEEP INTO THE STUDS THAT FRAME IN THE DOOR. I GOT GOOD VALUE AND CONVENIENCE FROM THEIR WORK. IT S VERY NICE TO HAVE ONE KEY! $421.83 (LABOR WAS $204, PARTS WERE $203.58.)
