ALLEN'S ROOFING

While the house now has a new roof that doesn't leak, the experience was a very poor one. After receiving a bid for the work and, important to us at the time, a commitment to start the job the next week, the experience went downhill from there. The tear-off left *pounds* of nails on the ground around the house (left after they completed a cursory sweep). These and bits of shingles, plastic wrappers, cigarettes, etc. were left in my neighbors' yards, annoying those neighbors. The gutters were installed so poorly that they leaked at every seam. They added extra joint sealer (silicone?) but they still leak. The worst part of the experience, though, was the persistent feeling that Dan wasn't being straight with me, that his word was more art than substance. He said that of course he'd pulled the permit; forgot to post it because it was at home: really? It almost became funny in the end, but not really.
