+ -1 moreWe first worked with Sam years ago and were very happy with his work and his character. We later hired someone else to do tile work for us who was cheaper and were not pleased. At this point, we would not use anyone except Sam for tile installation. He is a hard worker and has a can-do attitude about everything. He made a threshold for our slate where it met up with wood flooring and it looks like it has always been there. He does excellent work and is extremely trustworthy and reliable.
Description of Work: Installed slate flooring in bathroom.

It was difficult to find someone even willing to do the work as there were loose tiles and some question as to wall damage behind the tiles, and because for most, it was not a large enough job. Sam was very knowledgeable about the situation and was not worried about what he would find once he started work (unlike others). He knew how to fix any potential damage he might find. He gave the most detailed estimate I've ever received which included ALL the work that was going to be done (by area) and what supplies were provided. The work was beautifully done; the shower and tub surround look brand new. Sam showed up on time and had the job completed in the time frame given. I would hire him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Regrouted a shower in the master bedroom and a tub/shower surround in the guest bath. Repaired some rotting wallboard in the tub area and reset numerous tiles in both rooms.

+ -1 moreHE WAS VERY FRIENDLY. ARRIVED TO GIVE ME A QUOTE ON THE WORK WHICH ON THE PHONE SAID COULD NOT BE DONE FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS. WHEN HE SAW THE WORK TO BE DONE AGREED IT WAS A VERY SMALL BUT NECESSARY JOB AND OFFERED TO DO IT RIGHT A WAY. HE USED THE EXISTING TILE BOARD AFTER CLEANING IT UP AND SET IT. HE ONLY CHARGED ME THE TRIP CHARGE OUT. WHAT A REFRESHING EXPERIENCE!
Description of Work: RESET A TILE BOARD THAT HAD COME LOOSE FROM WATER DAMAGE UNDER THE DOOR OF A WALK IN STEAM SHOWER.

+ -1 moreSAM IS GREAT TO WORK WITH. HE IS EXTREMELY ORGANIZED AND PUNCTUAL. HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHEN HE IS COMING AND WHAT HE WILL BE DOING. WHEN HE GIVES YOU HIS BID, HE LISTS EVERY COST, EVERYTHING HE SUPPLIES, AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO SUPPLY (TILE, GROUT,CAULK ETC.) THERE IS NO GUESSWORK. HE IS ALSO VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND REALLY GIVES VALUABLE ADVICE AND IDEAS. THE TILE WORK IS BEAUTIFUL, AND WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN NEARLY AS NICE IF HE HADN'T MADE A NUMBER OF SUGGESTIONS. WE WILL USE HIM AGAIN FOR ANY FUTURE TILE WORK.

HE VERY WILLINGLY CAME OUT TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES AT NO CHARGE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY CORRECTIONS AND SEEMED GENUINELY CONCERN THAT I BE SATISFIED WITH THE JOB.

Description of Work: I CALLED HIM ABOUT SOME GROUT REPAIR IN OUR BATHROOM SHOWER. HE IS A VERY BUSY MAN AND WAS UNABLE TO COME SOON ENOUGH TO FIT MY SCHEDULE, BUT I TALKED HIM THROUGH THE PROBLEM ON THE PHONE. HE DESCRIBED TO ME EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND WHAT MATERIALS TO BUY. HE WAS VERY DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE. THE TOTAL COST TO FIX THE GROUT WAS UNDER $100. THE PROBLEM WAS TOTALLY SOLVED AND WE''VE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. I HAD TWO OTHER COMPANIES COME OUT BEFORE I TALKED TO SAM AND THEY HAD BOTH OFFERED REPAIR ESTIMATES OF OVER $2,000. IF YOU DON''T MIND WAITING A MONTH FOR HIM TO DO YOUR WORK OR YOU CAN GET HIS ADVICE ON THE PHONE IT IS ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. EVEN THOUGH HE IS SO BUSY HE RETURNS CALLS PROMPTLY (HE RETURNED MINE WITHIN 4 HOURS) AND SEEMS TO BE AVAILABLE IN THE EVENING TOO.
