The firm is extremely careful to understand exactly what we wanted done and asked many questions to make sure they got all the details right. We were very impressed with all their services.

The dead and sick trees were cut down and removed. All the brush was removed and the area was cleaned up. Selected trees were trimmed and fertilized. The above work was done in our absence. All the agreed to work was completed satisfactorily. Balsam is very trust worthy.

They came when scheduled and trimmed the trees we wanted trimmed. Primed okay for the amount of time and skill required for job.

Balsam Tree and Shrub company was in the neighborhood working at a neighbor's yard. Due to concerns about our maple tree on the boulevard, we walked over to see if they had time to look at the tree and provide information as to a plan of action. Not only did they do an assessment, where they clearly explained all recommendations, but they were able to do the work the same day. Once the tree was trimmed and treated, the follow-up with us included an explanation of what work was done, what to expect over the next year as the tree responded to treatment, and a phone call to make sure we were comfortable with the plan of action taken. Superb and professional work!

Not good at all and wasn't going to report; however, since they did not remedy the situation for me financially and overcharged the second time, you need to know about everything. First, I called for tree trimming for 17 trees on my property. Person by the name of Curt was timely in arriving to appointment, but this was a PM apt, 2:00 and he left that night and when I attempted to question his quote -- there was no reply. Overcharged for hauling and did talk to Megan who didn't seem to know what was happening with the quote. The overcharging is my main concern overall. They charge $150.00 per tree regardless of the size of the tree which drives up the price. Hauling charges are excessive when over half of the trees didn't have much to haul away. Curt recommended and advised one tree was dead and needed to be removed - poor advise, it was alive and could have been treated. More charges to have removed although the services were 5 minutes (yes I was present to witness this). Second, they left a really awful mess in the yard for the excessive hauling charges. Again, brought this up to Megan who didn't even comment about this or acknowledge my concerns. Third, on the planting of shrubs: I expressed my thoughts on declining the services but Megan said she was open to a planting plan for N/C; went forward with this although I regret it today. She charged over $1300.00 for 10 pots being literally dropped into the ground! Wood chips are so little it couldn't have cost more than $50.00, Biggest issue is they left my property a second time by not even leveling the garden area. (pictures are available) I could have went to Home Depot, bought plants/bushes and took a shovel and had the same result -- very dissatisfied. Tried to talk to Megan who often talked right over me and kept telling me how much she trimmed the trees. This wasn't apart of her responsibility as it was included in the first $3400.00 charge. My thought is that this company has significantly overcharged and I want to be compensated. Can you assist? If not, I'll go forward with BBB so other consumers are aware.

Wonderfully! They came and checked it out, gave us an estimate. Then came a week or so later to do the work. They were extremely professional and answered all our questions, dealt with our concerns. Great people! I'd highly recommend them.

Travis listened carefully to what we wanted done. He gave good advice as we talked through each project. He had a helper with him who was also well experienced. They completed the work quickly and efficiently. We were very satisfied.

We've used Balsam's services for the 12 years we've lived in our home. This is just the first time we're getting around to writing a review. Balsam also trims our trees and assists with any landscaping we require. We can call them on the phone and they'll give recommendations, if it's a small thing, or they'll come out and work with us on selecting sites and doing the planting. In this particular instance, they also went to the nursery, selected the trees and transported them to our home. We can't say enough about the entire organization - knowledgeable, professional and just plain great folks. Each Balsam principle has completed various types of specialized education, so they really know plants and landscaping. This makes them MUCH more than just tree cutters. Anyone can use a chain saw. Using it to improve aesthetics as well as tree/shrub health is another story. And, their landscaping acumen is also top-notch. We look forward to working with Balsam for as long as we live in our home!

Came at 10:00 A.M - finished 2:30 P.M.

Balsam comes out in mid summer to clear small trees from wetland area behind house in order to maintain the water view. If we let the trees grow they would take over and the view would be lost in several years. As a result, small tree removal is a re-occurring annual event. 2 young men from Balsam came out and did a very thorough job after discussing the requirements with the homeowner. Balsam has this job on their schedule and is very good about calling ahead of time and scheduling the work at a time that is convenient with the homeowner. They also do tree trimming work for a neighbor and are a company that I would highly recommend for tree and shrub care.
