Outstanding experience from top to bottom! I was referred to Dakota Unlimited via a pool contractor and our landscaper as a good company to go with. That coupled with Angie's List high marks got me to call them. I compared their bid with 2 other local fencing contractors, and even though Dakota's wasn't the lowest, I went with them because the cost difference was minimal and they had no negative Angie's List reviews to date. I see why now! Rick Fisher, the sales guy, was prompt and always answered questions promptly, and if he didn't know the answer, he always got back to me in a day with the answer. Chuck, the owner, is a model owner for a business such as this! He responded to a special request to add concrete reinforcing footings to the vinyl fence mounted to the top of a 5 foot retaining wall, so that it would be extra strong at my request with no added charge! He also had his crew out working with my landscaper to make this happen at short notice. He was also prompt with any meeting appointments. The Dakota fence crew was outstanding as well! They took great pains to make sure I was happy with the work as it went along, and frequently asked my opinion when things could be done different ways. They never assumed I would want something one way or another. Also, they pointed out posts that could be pulled up higher if I wanted, even after they had poured concrete and installed the posts, in case I wanted it to compensate for the ground/grade uneveness. They would have changed that if I had asked, without protest. In the end, I left everything where they originally installed them, because it looked great as it was, and the small things they pointed out were insignificant to me. But that tells you just how great a company they were to work with. All along the way, no problems (which were few to begin with) went unsolved to my satisfaction. Chuck and his team are just what you want in any contractor working on your home: responsive, cordial, reasonably priced, and very service oriented.

Steve was very professional, he listened to our needs and we appreciated his ideas. However, we also met with a few other reputable companies and decided to go with another company that offered very similar products at a lower cost.

Dakota Fence representatives were very punctual and professional. They did a great job!

Everything went very well. I hadn't gotten completely prepared for them before they came and they helped me do this, without charging me any extra. I also had a large bush growing on the fence line and they helped me save half of it and it survived. They were polite, friendly, and prompt.

Dakota is simply an outstanding fence contractor. No other fencing contractor came even close to them in customer service, construction, quality and professionalism. Jerry, as sales rep. worked extensively with us in helping us conceptually define the project and our objectives. He was very knowledgeable, customer focused and patient as we worked to define exactly what we wanted. He was especially talented in translating our objectives to a visual schetch that enabled us to see exactly what it would look like. Then he clearly specified the work product so the construction crew knew exactly what to do. The construction crew (three guys) spent less than a day in completing this work. They were very creative and professional in their work with the gate and lattice section custom designed onsite. Their work was outstanding. Their cleanup was also just great. Our contract initially called for 2 lattice sections however, when we decided we wanted an additional section, they sent a person back on a latter date to complete the work. In the end, we were and are delighted and pleased with the fence and complete project. We have had and continue to have numerous compliments on it's beauty, creativity and quality with some people wanting to do the same construction at their home. We highly recommend Dakota for any fencing needs and would only contact them for any future needs. They are an outstanding fencing contractor.

They treated us well and it was easy to talk to them. They had a basic workmanship. They gave us the estimate and completed the job on time. Everything went fine. Their price was fine and they took care of whatever we asked for. I would use them in future.

Very well. Dakota was recommended to me by a friend & again by my neighbor who hired them to install a wood fence this year. I called them to get a bid for my project. Ron came to the house, measured and showed me their aluminum fence brochure. I asked to see some in person, and he scheduled time with me on the weekend to visit their showroom. My chain-link removal was harder than anticipated (about a foot was buried under ground) so the crew called for some help and 3 more guys showed up to get it done. The install didn't happen in one day to allow the cement to cure, but the team rigged up barriers so my dogs couldn't get out of the yard. They came back, installed the gates. I had to call one time to follow up to have some extra paver stones cut to fill in the opening around the one post that went into my pathway. They came out within a couple days and it was all done. I love my fence. It was a great investment - no worries about the new dog jumping over this one! and it looks great.

Service was great. After I called, Steve came out to my house and walked through my options with me. Once that was done Steve worked directly with the city of Shakopee to correctly define any easement restrictions. Steve was actually able to get more coverage in my yard once he crunched the numbers! If Steve did not double check the numbers provided by the city, we would have lost a large section of our yard! It took one day for the crew to dig the poles and one day to hang the panels. They even made sure that our gates were graded correctly for an extremely professional look! I would recommend this company to anyone looking or thinking about putting in a fence. After the installation, I even mentioned that I would be proud to have their fence sign to be hung on the fence!

The service rep was quick to show up and was "no gimmicks, no pushy business talk"....he certainly had experience with fencing, and gave us the price right there and then.

The estimator, Ron, came during the evening to give us an estimate. He was professional and curteous and answered all our questions. We received 2 more estimates, one very close to Dakota Fence and one about $1,000 cheaper. It turned out the cheaper estimate was with a company that did not use cement with all of it's posts. We decided to go with Dakota Fence because we wanted cement with each post, and we appreciated the professionalism of Ron, who was the most professional of all the estimators. We changed our expectations and asked for a new estimate. The work was done on time and close to the new estimate. It turned out that when the fence was actually laid out, it was 14 feet longer than estimated, but the people working on the fence told me that and I got a new estimate from Ron for the cost.

The whole process was lovely from the initial planning and estimate to the final install. The crew was courteous, responsible, very tidy, and was fencing project was started and finished on the date(s) promised. They paid very close attention to grading in the yard and the angles of the fence so that its appearance mattered just as much as getting the fence installed. Apart from having a lovely new fence, I wouldn't have even known that they'd been there.

It went very well. They patiently gave us more than one estimate when we could not decide where we wanted the fence to run. They came out and double checked to be sure they understood exactly what we want and installed exactly what we wanted. Crew was very friendly and cleaned up everything very neatly. We scheduled the work more than 2 weeks out because we had to wait for the weather (i.e. spring).

The person sent over to do the estimate was excellent and told me every detail. The one thing I really appreciated was that I had made changes along the way. I initially thought I wanted three gates and then heightened my fence and he was willing to do new estimates for me. I have worked with other people in the past and they wouldn't do it, but these people were excellent. I had one little problem with the people who took my fence, they made a big mess and they were annoyed, because I had rocks in the ground. I told them where to dump the dirt that they had dug up and they did that for a while and then they got lazy. The second crew who came were fabulous and did a wonderful job. The price was pretty much in line with other prices which I had, from the estimates.

I thought they were neat and fast. They didn't hire any sub contractors. The foreman was there the entire time. He made sure things got done and got done fast. It took about five days from beginning to end.

It was fantastic. I thought the sales rep was very good. He was very much about asking what our needs were. He was not high pressure or pushy. He asked a lot of good questions and made a lot of good recommendations about style, without trying to up-sell us. The estimate was right on. It didn't end up costing any more than what they said. The gentleman set the tone for the company and they followed through.

They did excellent! It's a beautiful, high-quality fence. Once a tree fell on it, and they came out to fix it promptly. We were also in a rush to get in put in so that we would beat the frost, and they were willing to work with us and got the job done quickly and efficiently. They were great!

We didn't end up replacing the fence, but the bid was higher than the other companies we talked to. I'm sure they do good work, but it was too high for us for a relatively small job.

They did a wonderful job and also very quickly. The crew were pleasant to have around. They cleaned up any debris so that you could not tel they had been there.

Work was done as promised, the company worked with us and the landscape architect to decide about the fence appearance/material/etc. Very accommodating. We got a lower quote from another company, but decided to go with Dakota anyway.

They did a very good job. They were very professional. They made one mistake, they bought a gate that did not match. I just assumed they would buy one that matched the other gates. I returned the gate myself and brought the right one and installed it myself.

Went fine, they replaced some rotted posts and rebalanced one gate. Reduced the final charge from the original estimate because one post didn't need to be replaced after all, just had to recement it.

It went great. Jerry, the sales guy came out to do the estimate. He was very nice and explained everything well. After putting down a deposit, the custom iron guy came out and took a look at our existing handrails to design the new custom gate. It was installed about two weeks later, and it looks and works great. There were a few rusty spots almost immediately on the gate, but after a phone call, they came right out and touched up the paint. A few weeks later, the cedar posts and chain link posts were set up, and later in the week the fence was installed. It looks great, and the guys were really nice and did a great job cleaning up. Dakota Fence was not the cheapest estimate I received, but I was impressed by their quality and customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to work with people who do good work.

It took them three or four tries before the fence was finished correctly. They ended up doing a good job. I would use them again.
