Andrew, the sales rep, came out and went over options with us. He struck me as a forthright individual who knew all I needed to know about fences. As the quote came in at a reasonable level, I was happy to give Dakota the job. They set up an installation schedule which they met. The crew as first rate in my opinion, both in terms of competence and communications. The owner, Tom Engelmeier, also came out to assure that everything was as required in the plan. He is extremely professional and inspires great confidence in the Dakota operation. Everything went smoothly, our new fence is a thing of great beauty, and we could not be more pleased.

Dakota Unlimited was great! Look no further if you want a fence in your yard. I had originally contacted Dakota Unlimited about a year ago for an estimate on a cedar fence for the back yard. Andrew came over to take measurements, wood options and pricing. He was very pleasant and professional; a really nice guy. My dog loved him! I didn't have the fence put in at that time because I wanted to do some landscaping and remove some old lilac bushes first. I called in the early spring on 2012 to schedule the work. Andrew still had my information so he was able to send the contract to me in the mail and schedule the work. I liked that because it saved time for me. The guys came out and put the posts in one morning. They came back a few days later after the cement had a chance to cure. The guys were really nice and answered the questions that I had. They had the new fence up in no time. It looked wonderfull. I have had a lot of compliments about my new fence. I have to recommend these guys if you are interested in a fence because they were all very nice, professional and did a great job.

We took about 5 quotes for our back yard fence of wrought iron. Andrew was very professional from the first time I spoke to him. He arrived on time for appt and spent good amount of time to take measurements. He explained me various options and let me choose without pressure. His pricing was the best. He also helped me in the process of getting approval from our association. the workman ship of his team is superior. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

The salesperson, Rich, was prompt at returning my phone call and scheduled an appointment quickly. I explained what I wanted and he showed me all the options. I was unsure at the time if I wanted cedar or vinyl and he gave me an estimate for both. He had a catalog of vinyl fencing which showed me what was available. He wrote the estimate and gave it to me before leaving my house that day. I got an estimate from one other company whose price was a couple of hundred dollars higher. I went with Dakota because of the write-ups on Angie's List and because of the professionalism of Rich. I had originally thought I wanted white picket but he showed me the option of other colors and I chose almond (for which I am most grateful; it is perfect.) I called Rich and he ordered the products. I spoke to Jennifer on the phone and gave her a deposit; could not have been easier. Jennifer sent me a copy of the charge slip by return mail. I was called when the products came in and scheduled a time for installation. I ended up having to cancel that time and re-schedule which was easily done. On the day of installation Rick, the installer, called me to tell me what time they would be there. They arrived early and got right to work. They never even took a break! They finished in the late afternoon. Rick had me inspect everything for my approval. It was great! They cleaned up everything perfectly, down to brushing dirt off a bench in my garden! They even cut up a left over piece of vinyl for me to put into my window box to boost the height of my plants. They also used one of my old redwood posts to secure my neighbor's fence which had been attached to my old redwood one. I can't recommend this company highly enough! Professional, friendly, reasonably priced--and good products.

These guys were phenomenal! They were punctual, professional and skilled all the way from the Estimate process through installation. Because we had two different types of fencing (decorative for the front and chain link for the back), they had to do it on two separate days. The pole footings had to set for 3 - 5 business days for the chain link portion. These gents got there and immediately got to work on all of the posts, as well as the aluminum fence itself (those post hole footings didn't need as long to set). In one day, they completed ALL of the posts for all 440 feet of fence, and they completed the Aluminum fence itself. They were super careful with our property, disturbing as little as possible. One of the owners of the company also came out that day....he said he likes to get to all of the sites. A week later, the guys came back and completed the chain link around the remaining 3 sides. Everything was perfect! They took into account the slope of the land where we wanted them to, the posts were perfectly straight AND solid, and they added a tension wire around the bottom that we'd requested. They also took the time to walk the entire fence and clean/spray paint a few touch up spots. We had a temporary 'fence' set up for our dog, and these guys offered to even move that over the open areas where the gates were going to be to keep the pooch in! The following day, the "gate guys" came to install the two aluminum gates (one of which was an arch), and the 2 chain link gates towards the back of the yard. Again, perfection! By the time all was said and done, you couldn't tell these guys had been there (other than the beautiful fence, of course), they'd cleaned up so well. I wouldn't hesitate to use Dakota again. At some point in the future, we want decorative driveway fencing and you can be sure Dakota is the company we will be using! Very, very happy with every aspect of this project!!!

All appointments were kept on time, the estimate was accurate and every step of the construction was explained completely to us before it was begun. We had to clear some trees before the work could begin and Dakota accomodated our schedule to get that completed before work began. We made some small changes to the design right before construction started and they were quickly adjusted for in the estimate. The fence posts were sunk 3 feet and set in concrete and after the concrete set, the fence was put up. It is western red cedar and looks great. The posts were razor straight and the finished fence is more than we hoped for. Wonderful experience and a very professional and comfortable experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Dakota. They were friendly and honest and generally great to work with. The owner even came out duing construction to insure that the project was going well and to be sure we had no concerns. Nice. Our neighbors have been making favorable comments about our new fence ever since.

Dakota Unlimited is an extremely easy company to work with. Punctual, polite and friendly. We are very pleased with our new fence!! I would not hesitate to use them again.

Everything went smoothly. They returned my call promptly and came out to give an estimate the next day. The price sounded reasonable and included materials. They came when scheduled and did the work and cleanup. It was a small job but it seems like they treated it like any other job.

They were very professional. Their price was about $800 more than the closest competitor. They really tried to compete on quality, and I think slightly overbuild fences.

They had a great crew on site and the job was completed in a day and half. We had a very good experience with Dakota from the sales process through to installation. Great job and kudos to the crew!

I know something about tall privacy fences, having built one myself and engaged two other companies in the past to build sections of our fence. Dakota Unlimited is the best, by far, in my experience. I would not consider another company. The salesman, Joe, was very good, prompt and knowledgeable. The company was responsive to our needs and accommodated a couple of small changes we made in process. Both the demo crew and fence building crew came and finished on schedule. The demo crew thoroughly removed a very difficult fence with big concrete footings. In the new construction, both the materials and workmanship are first rate, much better than either of the other companies we've used. The owner, Tom, even came around - twice - to check out the job. He suggested a big improvement in the fence-line at one gate and then came back to work with the crew to design it. We've received many compliments from passers-by on the look of the fence. You can get a cheaper fence elsewhere but not a better one, I think.

Great Company!!! From beginning to end I was very impressed with their customer service and attention to detail. I received many bids and Dakota gave me the best price. They removed my old chain link and put in new cedar posts. They were very neat and precise in their work and provided an alternative fence for my dogs until the new fence could be built. That was an important part since we have had several coyote sightings in the neighborhood and I was worried about them getting in the yard. They were always on time and were very professional. My fence looks great and I'm so glad I had Angie's List to find the best company for the job. If you use this company - you won't be sorry. Thanks Dakota Unlimited!!!!

The installers were pleasant and did there best to repair the existing fence and to use as much as they could to save us some money. I have worked with many contractors, ant thier installers were great!

We went with a 6' PVC privacy fence in the front yard. Along the backyard, we had a 6' chain link fence put in. We had estimates with another company and with this company. We went to their showrooms several times. We decided that it was just the best option for us. Everything went out well. It looks great.

They were very professional from beginning to end. They kept me informed during the entire process.

I was impressed with the polite and professional response I received upon requesting an estimate. The man who did the estimate was polite and friendly. Unlike some other estimates I received, I did not feel pressured or as though I was being "sold" something. The estimate did come in slightly higher than another company. He explained that this was because of difference in quality of the fence boards. He was able to quote us a price for using the less expensive boards (still slightly higher than the other company) which we decided to go with, since we were impressed with the communication skills of the Dakota Unlimited employees and sensed it was a company with integrity. In a couple weeks' time, the crew were out removing our old fence and installing the posts. The crew were all polite and friendly, and even put up with my toddler and I watching them work for entertainment. We had the same experience with the crew that built the panels later that week, everyone was polite and professional. The only small complaint I might have was with cleanup, there were a *few* little scraps left in the yard, which I only noticed because I have a toddler who will hunt those things down. A couple of months later, I noticed that one of the doors had adjusted so that latch was rubbing a bit. I called and they had someone out in a few days to fix the problem. Overall, I was very happy with our experience, as well as with the result!

Using Angie's list, I called Dakota to come out and provide an estimate on a house that I was closing on in three weeks (the owners at that time allowed us on the property to measure). I explained to the salesman that there would be a 7 day window from the time we closed to the time we moved in. After taking the measurements, he sent me a proposal for several types of fence (split rail, chain link, and combo of the two). We chose the split rail (because of esthetics) and let them know to proceed. A third of the estimate was required prior to starting, which I understood at the beginning and was OK with it. The closing was on a Monday morning and that afternoon I arrived at the house to check on some things. The owner of the fence company had arrived to look over the job that his folks were going to perform. He was very nice, and assured me that all would be ready by the time we showed up with the moving van, the following week. The next morning his team arrived and I reviewed the details with the foreman. They appeared to have everything they needed, so I left them, to go back and get my wife and kids for the move. Five days later, we showed up, with the dogs and family and found a beautiful fence that exceeded our expectations. It was a gorgeous job, blended in well with the environment, and they did a great job pulling the barbed wire fence. There were also 4 gates installed, 1, 4 foot and and 3, 5 foot. The self closures also work very well. Extremely pleased with service from beginning to end.

I called to ask about having a fence installed and they said an appraiser would call me back. NEVER heard from them! Midwest fence got back to me right away and will be installing the fence next week.

Dakota Fence did a very nice job. They were very punctual and prompt. The salesman was happy to assist, answer questions, and pass instructions along to the work crew. We were changing some things on the fly and they were not phased a bit. Their internal communication seems to be efficient and the level of attentiveness didn't wane after the contract was signed (nice for a change!) I only had one minor complaint after the first crew was out to set the posts, and they were happy to rectify the problem when they came back to put up the fencing fabric the next week.
