Custom Hardwoods is a family owned cabinet and furniture company based in Rollingstone, MN. It has been in business for over 28 years. Steve Speltz is the Master Craftsman. His expertise in design and cabinet construction leads in the industry. Two additional members, Pat and Chance, complete the Custom Hardwoods team -- engaging in daily business operations from customer service to construction. It is indeed a "family business". Custom kitchen cabinets are by far the specialty with our signature line - the inset style - attracting many customers. Customers begin their journey with a visit to our newly constructed showroom, they pick out a wood type -- anything from painted maple to quartersawn white oak -- the options are many. From there, their "dream kitchen" becomes reality -- usually starting with a pencil and a piece of paper. From design to delivery and installation, Custom Hardwoods is at your service. Our customers can expect nothing less than quality materials and construction, attention to detail, and an end result that exceeds their expectations. We use veneer core plywoods, hardwood door panels, exceptional hardware, and a catalyzed finish to produce a cabinet that will last them more than 50 years. "Anything made out of wood" is our motto -- kitchen cabinets and islands, entertainment centers, tables, chairs, stools, fireplace mantles and surrounds, end tables, coffee tables, gun cabinets, bedroom furniture, armoirs, bathroom vanities and linens, shelving, cornices, millwork - crown and base moulding, applied moulding or raised panel wall accents, entry doors, french doors, wall clocks, cuckoo clocks, carved items, childrens furniture, church furniture - altars, chairs, pulpits, music stands, holy water and baptisimal fonts -- the list is endless. Furniture repair and restoration is also available, including refinishing, antiques and water damaged items. Steve is a Master Carver (and artist) -- winning his Gold Medal from the Vesterheim in Decorah, Iowa in July 2010. His favorite style of carving is the beautiful and detailed ancanthus which highlights leaves, roots, and flowers. He has carved many award winning pieces -- to include the Speltz family crest, a religious cuba stool, chairs, corner cabinets, picture and mirror frames, wall clocks, and his latest addition the cuckoo clock. We have a 100 year old house and it had a strange kitchen, so getting new cabinets made that both fit our space, served our needs and flt like they had been there forever as part of the original design of the house was no small task.
They came to our house and consulted with us about our needs, helped us plan every step of the way, took our ideas and improved upon them, and came up with unique ways to maximize the space.
They were so good about keeping the style and design in keeping with our tastes and the style of the house yet still giving us all the cool modern features of the latest cabinetry.
They were so friendly and accommodating, and very happy to talk us through price options, quality options, and were able to steer us toward the right blend of quality and affordability. There were places I would have made short cuts and they showed us why it was not worth the savings there, but then recommended other places we could still have the savings, without sacrificing much on style or functionality.
Their attention to detail and their artistry were AMAZING. The install went beautifully and took time to get it right, and to match the crooked walls in a way that became invisible to the eye when they were done. WOW.
They have come back a couple times to fix things that needed adjustment or follow up work at NO CHARGE and very quickly as well.
I can't say enough about this company and their family-like approach to business. We have also used them for custom furniture projects also and they are wonderful. I highly recommend them and will use them without question in the future.
Custom Cabinetry is the way to go compared to off the shelf cabinets. The quality is tons better and the price is not much more. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
