Matt helped me pick out 3 doors in my price range. They materials arrived when they said they would, the installation went as planned, they cleaned up the mess and hauled away the old doors. Everything looks great and works as flawlessly.

Bid and design help process was fantastic from 1 of the 2 owners. The job was a rush priority for us prior to family event at house, and these guys did the work in our unusually (and nonstop) rainy spring, and an hour outside the metro, on short notice. As we desired, time from original bid to completion was less than one month -- this was both an an ambitious timeframe to have asked for, but also, in spite of others also waiting for final paint due to months of rain, they went all out and got to the final work -- i.e., the paint job -- in time for the family event. They were delightful, punctual to a fault, perfectionist, and exceeded what was our already high expectation.

These guys did a great job. Their builder Wayne is a true professional. He offered up two distinctly different designs and walked through the pro/con on each one. He did a great job planning the work and removing our old deck and then Wayne and his crew really built a nice solid desk that is perfectly executed. The owner Ben and his project manager Andy were involved in every step of the project and took care of the administrative points and did a great job providing a seamless transition to the builder crew. These guys are pros at every turn and did an awesome job. Would use them again in a heartbeat and would suggest that you save your time, don't shop around, just go to Craftsman's Choice and know that you are talking to the best. Al

Overall a great experience. We called Craftsman's Choice after seeing their advertisement in the Angie's list magazine, and after talking to several other contractors about our leaking roof. Right away they were responsive, and enthusiastic to help us with our repair even though it was obviously going to be a small job. They were able to give me an estimate over the phone based on a detailed conversation of our problem, he even pulled up our house on Google Maps to see exactly what I was talking about. They scheduled one of their experienced roofers to come out within a couple days. Chris performed the work and did a fantastic job. He arrived on time, was polite, completed the job on budget, and most importantly solved a nagging problem other contractors didn't want to tackle. Really could not be more pleased.

From the very beginning, Craftsman's Choice was very responsive, always on time, and very professional. We contacted them to get a quote on replacing our siding, garage doors, and gutters. This is our first house and did not know very much about the different siding options. The sales man did a great job explaining the benefits and downsides of each option and then provided us an extensive quote on each one, which would allow us to choose the best fit for us and our home. We decided not to go with them due to wanting to go with steel siding after doing extensive research. If they would have been a steel siding contractor, we would have gone with them, though. I was very impressed by how they handled every step of the quoting process and always getting back to us within a short period of time and answering all of our questions.

I have owed Craftsman this review for a while, and now it is time! I've worked with them before, so when my husband had a mishap with our gas grill and roasted the outside siding of our garage instead of the chicken, I knew who to call (only minor injuries to my husband's hand and ego, thanks to the fire extinguishers we and our neighbors had, but the front of the garage was damaged). Frankly, I didn't even think to call anyone else. I knew they did good work and their price seemed good for what we were doing, so i felt no need to hunt down an alternative estimate. It turned out to be too hard to match the original vinyl siding, so we decided to bite the bullet and make the garage match our house, which we had wanted to do "someday." Craftsman came out promptly and gave me a good estimate. When the project planner came out to prep for the work, and heard my tale of woe and desire to match the house, he had a couple additional suggestions for the trim to better match the house. It added a cost, but I immediately saw that it was a good suggestion. The crew that did the work was fantastic- they were able to fix the door that was rotting and the back of the garage as part of the work, which was an unknown until they fund and fixed it, The work and the subsequent clean up they did was also so impressive that our neighbors hired CC to do their siding work (and also loved them). And the painting was, as always, masterful. The garage just looks gorgeous, and finally matches the house. Now we have to make the house look as good as the garage. These are great people who work really hard and do great things. They also have a booth at the State Fair near the Dairy Barn and Haunted House, where we saw them and told them how great everything was looking.

We were looking to add a screen porch to our house and ended up getting far too many quotes as friends and family started giving us recommendations as well as our Angie's list top three. Craftsman was one of the highly rated contractors in the area so we wanted to hear from them. Dealing with Matt was a pleasure. He was on time, was very knowledgeable, and really a pleasure to work with. I'm sure the team at Craftsman does an amazing job, but I just wanted to note that anyone considering working with Craftsman's Choice should make sure to get a few estimates. I had read one other complaint with an outrageous quote from Craftsman, but I thought nothing of it until I got Matt's quote. When he left our house both my wife and I thought we had found the guy for the job. It was very disheartening to see his quote was double some of the other quotes and $8,000 higher than the next highest. I'm sure they maybe add all the intricate details to make your project special, but I would never spend an extra $8,000 on a relatively small project. Especially when the next highest guy seemed like a very high end builder himself. Even though we didn't get any work done by Craftsman's Choice, I felt that since I appreciate any kind of feedback I can get on Angie's list I should share my experience. My advice would be to make sure to get a few estimates when considering Craftsman's Choice. I understand everyone needs to make money on a project, but for someone to be that far off just seemed a little alarming to me.

These guys are great! Matt and Keith came out to our house to give us an estimate to do the work. We wanted to spruce up the house a bit with the Hardie shakes. The told us all about the James Hardie product, we looked at colors, and they did measurements. I soon received an estimate for the work and a photo of what it would look like. The estimate was very fair and Keith is a really nice guy. We knew we wanted to do the work with them. They came that following week to do the work and we are so pleased with the results! We will definitely contact them again when we want to redo our siding and/or roof!

Overall, the project went great. The team that did the roofing and decking were really great to work with. The lead was so conscientious about the quality of work and gave me a heads up about everything they were doing and any unanticipated issues. Given that it is an old South Minneapolis house there is always going to be some sort of surprises. for example, on the second level, a new header was needed in order to anchor the new roof and decking. The change item was very reasonable in cost and ended up leveling my second floor. The decking and roofing work was done in a timely basis and looked incredible when finished. The only delay came on door installation and painting. The actual jobs were done very well and professional. No issues with the craftsmanship. The issue was that they kind of lingered after the big projects were done. Each job was done in approximately a day but a couple of weeks after the main project was finished. There was no impact to our daily schedules. We were just ready to be finished at that point. By and large that was due to being the end of the outdoor construction season and they had to finish those up while they could. I understand that. By no means did this diminish my respect for the company and I will hire them again.

Estimate and Service was very good and prompt. I didn't have any problems. House looks fantastic and work was 100% complete. I would definitely recommend their services to my friends and family.

Never got our CD of the final outcome of the design on the exterior of our home. The guy that came out didn't even mention it to us. My husband called and complained for our $ back and they said they would send us the CD but at that point we didn't want to use them because of the way we were already treated. It was part of the Big Deal and the company wasn't able to follow through with it. We eventually got our $ back. We picked this big deal because we wanted to see the outcome of what our exterior would look like when finished on a CD not to just get ideas in our heads

Through the very high ratings on Angies List we called Craftsman Choice. We already knew we were going to hire them after meeting with Ben and going over everything. He explained everything to us. We had no knowlege of what it all consisted of. We have never worked with professionals before. It took me awhile to decide on the windows I wanted. Once I made up my mind Ben came out and things were signed everything was good to go. Chris came out and went over things with the crew and us. Let me tell you the crew was awesome. Very hard working and professional workers. They never stopped. If we had questions all you had to do was ask. Kudos to Brandon, Steve and Elijah. They said 7 days . They were right on. Ryan came out and did the things that were on order and just the little things. He does everything. Ryan is another plus for Craftsman's Choice. The one huge window in the front was so.. heavy. How they hoisted that up and put it in was a job and remarkable. We are so satisfied with the whole experience. They clean everything up like they weren't even here. Very respectful. All I know if you hire Craftsman's Choice you will not be sorry. People come over rub and touch the james hardy siding and say we hired a great company. All I can say is yes we did we lucked out. Thank you Ben, Chris and crew for everything.

Unsatisfactory experience with this service provider. I purchased a promotional home exterior remodeling design package to generate some ideas for future renovations and updates to our home. It took three calls to get the original appointment set - then the vendor called back and changed the time and which representative they were sending. What an auspicious beginning. The representative toured to property with me, took basic notes, and at the end of the appointment, indicated the projects we were considering were outside his personal area of expertise. He indicated his partner would contact me for a follow up visit and discussion in order to generate some design possibilities for us. After placing three follow up calls without response, and nine months of waiting - we've given up!

Craftsman's Choice was excellent to work with throughout the project. We selected them based on their high reviews and proximity to our home. We had bought a short sale home that had had hail damage the summer before. The previous owner submitted a claim to his insurance prior to closing and we had Ben come out and give us an estimate and discuss the project. Ben was great in explaining the project in detail and answering all of our questions along the way. We ended up waiting over 6 months from closing to actually having the work done due to the insurance funds being held up in banks due to to the short sale. The entire staff was excellent and assisted with forms, signatures,etc. that the bank asked for along the way. The job was performed efficiently and on time and on budget with the workmen explaining situations that arose during construction and how we could address them. Overall a job well done. If I need a new roof, siding, or any other exterior project, Craftsman's Choice will be my first call.

They were great! We also visited the Pella door showroom in Maplewood. They were a great help in finding just the right door with options that we were looking for. Keith from Craftman's Choice came to our house we went through the different options with him and setup the order. When the door came in we made arrangements with Craftman's Choice to install the door. The technician came at the expected time did a great job of installing the door and even cleaned up afterward's. We couldn't be happier with our new door.

After initial issues getting my request handled (they were busy), Matt the owner contacted me and personally handled my business. He was very forthright and diligent in getting our estimate done and kept in touch with me to make sure the estimate was meeting my expectations.

Contractor met with us twice with estimates. Did not seem as professional as could have been.

It went very well. We went through a process of getting bids from four contractors. Ben from Craftsman's was very detailed and thorough in explaining how they would work and complete the project. He pointed out the pluses and minuses of different options we were considering. He even made suggestions of questions to ask other contractors and things to be sure we had another contractor do if we didn't select them for the project. There was some difficulty with the supplier that did the pre-painting of the cedar in that they had a difficult time in matching the color. Ben and Andy, the project manager, made sure it was right and never pressured us to settle for something that wasn't a match. The crew that did the actual installation was professional, friendly, and cleaned up each day. They also answered questions that we had. When the project was completed, Ben came out and wrapped things up personally. Though our project was on the smaller side, we always felt we were valued and important. We were very pleased with our experience and would recommend Craftsman's highly.

We sent an email to Craftsman's Choice to describe our project and requested a quote. Within 24 hours, they had contacted us and set up an appointment. We met with them to discuss the project and they quickly took all of the necessary measurements. They had a huge portfolio of James Hardie projects they have completed. They obviously have a lot of experience and excellent references. WIthin a week, we met with them again. They had a very professional proposal along with pictures of what our house would look like after the project. The quote ended up being the highest of the three we received. We went with a cheaper company that had a crew available to do the work sooner. However, we were very impressed with Craftsman's Choice and would have been very comfortable using them for our project.

Mark came out and got a feel for what we were looking for and said he would come up with a design for us. They had a big response from the angie's list big deal, so allow 2-3 weeks to get back to us. I checked in after 4 weeks to touch base and left messages for Mark. No return calls. Called again after 6 weeks and left another message. Mark responded with a message that he was just having his assistant finish up the drawings and should we have them by the weekend. Two men showed up at our house that Friday and said that Mark sent them out to draw a design of our house. He said he usually builds decks for the company, but he could also do some drawings for us and would have them done by the end of the weekend. Seemed like a third party sub contractor doing the drawings, not Builders Choice? So they asked me what I was looking for and what kind of design we wanted. (Frustrating starting the whole process over again after 6 weeks). Didn't hear from Mark again and left messages the following week. After 8 weeks, Mark called and set an appointment to go over the design. We were impressed with what they came up with, nice looking design. We thought the big deal also included color designs and choices, but the drawing was black and white. (No big deal, for 49 bucks what do you expect?) Just frustrated with the lack of communication and delays. If you're 8 weeks behind just let us know up front. Better to be up front and honest with your clients than just leave them hanging. It doesn't take long to return a phone call or give an update.

Of all of the estimators, Craftman's Choice was the most thorough. He knew his product line and asked me probing questions that got me to understand my project in better detail. Not hearing back from the company for the estimate I called to check in to learn that our estimator was out with a serious illness. One of the company owners then followed up immediately with me. It was helpful to be able to look through their photo album of completed projects and to drive by referral homes to help make decisions about details on siding and roofing products. All of the staff that we interacted with were highly professional and were very focused on pleasing the client. I had lots of detailed questions throughout the project and always felt that they were answered knowledgeably and with sincere interest. The work crews did a great job of not harming the extensive gardens surrounding the entire house. When I was not satisfied with a few details (such as new nails protruding through one side of the garage soffit, repairing small portion of garage decking that had a hole) or noticed a couple of small items that needed taken care of (such as old nail holes needing filled, old nails protruding through the soffits needing cut off, repairing ends of facia board that previous contractors had cut off when adding aluminum siding, replacing missing pieces of decorative molding), the company did a great job of coming back and completing all of the items I had on my punch list. I felt that the company really listened to us and cared about the work they were doing. They were a little slow to complete some of the last items on my final punch list due to gearing up for their State Fair exhibit. The owner was very apologetic and communicative about their schedule and availability. He made it clear that if I needed them to wrap up sooner so I could get our painters started they could do so. I was impressed with the quality of staff hired by Craftman's Choice. They seem to hire good people who care about their work and their customers, and perform high quality work.

The whole thing has been very positive. They were very professional and it was really excellent. I know about their quality and reputation and their price was better than the other estimates as well.
