Keith came out to meet with us several times to inspect our property, prepare his bid, and go over the proposal with us. He was very thorough, professional and we really enjoyed getting to know him. He stood out compared to the several other bids that we got. The team came out and did an outstanding job taking out the old, rotting trim and replacing it with new product. They primed the wood on all sides (a very important step that some people miss and will cause problems down the road) and installed it very efficiently. We painted the trim ourselves. They accidentally cracked a window when they were working (it's a 90 year old house, we weren't surprised) and offered to replace it at no cost to us. They are a stand-out company in terms of price, quality and professionalism, definitely use them--we will certainly continue to do so. Finally, we had them install a new front door that we purchased and stained ourselves. They did a great job and their price was better than any bid we got. 5 stars!
Description of Work: Replaced rotting brickmold around exterior windows, installed new front door (that we purchased on our own).

We are extremely satisfied with the sales process, design, craftsmanship and final appearance of our project. The team at Craftsman Choice is very professional and are highly skilled at what they do. They want to make sure you are happy with the final product. We love how our house looks. I would highly recommend their services.

Our house was a very large project, and we knew it would take a while to complete. They were able to finish the paint job just before our weather turned cool this fall, and there are a minor few things to follow up with this spring. We are still amazed at the final job when looking back at older photos of our house, and anyone who sees it today remarks just how wonderful it looks! Sorry we didn't do it sooner due the maintenance we have done over the years, but finally our home is beautiful, maintenance free, and woodpecker proof (we had multiple holes in the siding due to repeated bird damage over the years!) Ryan's team was professional and cleaned up all debris whenever necessary, and when they had to tear off all the cedar there was a lot of debris. Sorry we didn't call Craftsman's Choice when we needed the roof completed - that was a negative experience with another provider and made us hesitant to have any more work done. Mike and Ryan with Craftsman's Choice made the difference for us. Thank you ;)
Description of Work: We have a combination cedar siding and stucco with cedar trim boards completely renovated, with Hardie Siding replacement for the cedar, new paint to the stucco, and new pvc trim boards to replace the cedar trim boards where Hardie Siding could not be used. Every surface was painted and caulked and now the woodpeckers have nowhere to go! The existing 4 season sunroom also received spray foam insulation under the exposed floor to improve the insulation factor, and we have already noticed a significant improvement this winter. Ryan's team also removed and replaced our existing front door free of charge with a door we purchased separately.

We did a lot of research, especially on Angie?s List, about decking companies and we felt confident in our decision to choose Chraftsman?s Choice based on our research. We made an appointment and talked with one of the owners about a design. We put the project on hold until the next summer. In that time the one of the owners moved out of state, so we picked up with Ben. He was very helpful and we did not feel like much was missed in the transfer of information. We requested to see an example of their work. We went and saw a beautiful deck in the area. It made our decision making a lot easier. We loved the color and some of the details of that deck. There was a delay in starting because the decking color we chose was no longer available. We were greatly disappointed in this because we put a lot of thought into choosing the colors. We do love our new color choice! It looks fantastic, but was frustrating because of the time we spent thinking about colors. The instillation of the deck began with a hick-up. We did not want the dryer vent directly above the deck, as the ventilation system could be covered with a heavy snow fall. This was specifically discussed in the planning meeting. I was not present when our project manager arrived, but my husband and the team needed to make the decision about either making the deck smaller or keeping it the agreed upon side with the dryer vent where we did not want it. With the promise that it would be handled, we agreed to allow the dryer vent to be directly above the deck. Other than the dryer vent, the instillation was seamless. Wayne was amazing. His crew showed up early in the morning and made beautiful progress. The deck is substantial and feels incredibly safe. It looks absolutely beautiful. We had our follow-up meeting with Ben a month or so after instillation and discussed the dryer vent issue and the fact that some of the screw plugs were missing on the stairway. He assured us that both would be fixed in the spring. We should be hearing from our project manager to move the dryer vent and put plugs in all of the screw holes. I will update this review when this is completed and change the responsiveness score. All-in-all we love the deck and felt like a valued customer through the entire process.
Description of Work: We had a deck put onto our two-story house.

The total price for all the work was slightly better than other estimates I got, after using some coupons from Angie's List. They were punctual for every appointment and responsive whenever I contacted them. The workers were all friendly and knowledgeable. The results are beautiful. The only downside is that I found a lot nails and other bits of materials around the house when they finished. Overall I am quite satisfied and will use them again if the opportunity arises.

This project was done in two stages. The first year we did the dormers and the next year we did the rest of the house. The first crew that worked on the dormers was great. The second crew that started the main house siding project was somewhat less experienced and much slower. Chris changed the crew on our request and guys that did the majority of the work to finish this project were great. I hired Craftsmans Choice based on the work they had done re-siding a friends house. I think quality of the workmanship is very good and Ben is very responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

We are thrilled with the finished project. Many neighbors have commented on the beautiful transformation of our home. The crew was neat, timely and professional. The project manager checked in weekly and took care of each of our concerns, no matter how small. Ben followed up with a site visit to make sure that the work was done as promised. We highly recommend Craftsman's Choice, Inc. as a quality provider.
Description of Work: Ben Junker and his team took care of us from start to finish on a major siding job. The estimate was detailed. The price was fair. All of the damaged redwood siding had to be removed from the house and carted away. Repairs to sheathing were made, structural issues were resolved and he house was wrapped in preparation for James Hardie siding and trim. Three decks were removed and replaced with weather-proof decking and aluminum railings. Windows were trimmed out and custom shutters were built and mounted.

Their workers were punctual, worked efficiently and professionally, finished each job in one day and cleaned up the work site. They strive to maintain good community relations on the work site, even contacting my neighbors before the roofing job to let them know they would be on-site and requested to be notified if there were any problems. The sales rep, office staff, and site manager are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. My calls were returned promptly and all my questions addressed. The roof and gutters look great! I am very happy with their work!

I met with a few siding contractors about replacing the aging vinyl shakes on the front of my house with either LP Smartside or James Hardie. I really liked Randy from Craftsman's Choice because he wasn't pushy at all, answered tons of questions (I"m beyond picky) and was overall really good to work with. Their bid wasn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive but I was confident based on the work I had seen and the people that I dealt with that any additional cost over the lower bids would be money well spent to make sure everything went as planned. iThey keep busy and I was anxious to get everything started, but we got the project going in early june and they were in and out in just a few days. The siding crew was very good, friendly, cleaned up very well and took time to deal with me and my questions when I would stop by to see how things were going. The crew worked together very well and were efficient but had great attention to detail. Jeff the project manager was great about getting questions answered and helping me figure out solutions to a few issues we had to overcome. The siding work turned out great, and the few small issues after were taken care of very quickly. For example, I noticed a small problem with a couple shakes and shot off an email one night at 7 or 8pm. The next morning, I hear a compressor firing up outside and the issue was fixed before I was even ready for work. I really liked working with the people from Craftsman's Choice and plan to use them to get my roof redone as well as replacement windows when I need to get that done as well.

The entire process was a pleasure. I bought a deal through Angie's List which allowed me to get the work done at a substantial discount from what it would normally have cost. As soon as I contacted the company they got back to me and set up an appt. for someone to come out to do the estimate. He was very pleasant and thorough, explaining everything and not pressuring me at all. I was allowed to set up a time that was convenient for me to have the work done. Because my house and garage was only 1900 sq. ft. and a simple roof they were able to complete the tear-off, and entire re-roofing process including cleanup in one day. The fellows who did the job were punctual and polite. They were very careful of my foundation plantings and yard. I found no damage to my bushes or nails in the yard after clean-up. Unfortunately, a can of spray paint dropped on my concrete driveway as they were cleaning up and left a stain. The company was great about this. They sent Ryan out the next day to check on it before I even knew it was there. He arranged for it to be cleaned off. It took three visits but they didn't stop coming until my driveway was as good as new. A very professional group of people to work with. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: On-site walk-through and estimate. Replacement of 1900 square feet of asphalt shingles (house and garage roof); Complete tear-off of existing asphalt shingles (one layer). Removal of existing tar paper. Replacement of flashings as needed. Installation of new 15-pound felt paper. Installation of new pipe collars on external roof pipes. Installation of architectural shingles (lifetime warranty). Installation of ice and water shields on gutter sections. Up to 10 linear feet of aluminum counter-flashing and step-flashing as needed. Complete clean-up, including the use of a magnetic roller to pick up nails.

The job went extremely well. After a summer hail storm in 2013 damaged our windows and roof we decided to do complete make over on the exterior of our house, including replacing the windows, siding, roof and deck, and wanted to give the house more curb appeal while we were at it. They suggested some ideas to replace a silly looking roof over our front step with a very nice looking portico and add a false dormer over the front window of the house and a false dormer over the garage door to tie the portico in with the rest of the house. (The false dormers and portico have a 6/12 pitch, while the house and garage have a 4/12 pitch) They also had a good suggestion for correcting a hump in our garage roof that we wanted corrected as long as we were doing all this work. We agreed on a price for the portico and false dormers and agreed that the work on correcting the hump in the garage roof would be done on a time and materials basis. We gave the go-ahead to do the extra work and the results were amazing. The work that was done on a time and materials basis was completed quickly and without anyone standing around, and price for that part of the work ended up being less than I expected. The house looks a million times better than it ever did and we have had many people stop while walking by and compliment us on the work that was done. The crews that performed the work were very nice and personable and willing to do whatever it took to make us happy. When I asked questions about the work they were more than happy to answer my questions, and a couple of times when I had concerns about the work that was done, it was corrected immediately. The work was done in a professional manner with excellent craftsmanship. They did a great job of scheduling the different crews so that the work progressed quickly and we were always told when to expect the crews to be working and when the weather was not going to allow them to work. The communication was excellent! I would highly recommend Craftsman's Choice.
Description of Work: Replaced the windows, siding, roof and deck on our house, corrected a large hump in our garage roof left over from some incorrect framing done during the original construction of the garage, and constructed a portico and 2 false dormers on the house and garage roofs.

There were delays due to weather and staff illnesses, and we had to initiate communication on at least 3 occasions to find out when work might begin or continue. The work was originally slated to begin in late May, but was not completed until the second week of September. The initial soffit work was not competed correctly and crew needed to come back to refasten some of the boards/trim. When painting started the crew consisted of 2 guys who did take care to mask and spray carefully in locations. In the last 2 days the painting was being done, the owner showed up and suddenly it felt like everything was being done in a big hurry. There were some areas on the front of the house that did not take/hold the Duration paint and the crew lead directed some alkyd paint to provide coverage, but again felt very hurried. The final result of the process looks very nice and seems to be overall good quality, but the process was prolonged and we felt like the communication was laborious and should have been much more easy and frequent. The cost of this painting was twice what we had paid the last time we had the house painted, but did include soffit work. I would have to think carefully about working with this vendor in the future.

We signed a contract on March 21st. Work was to begin on June 2nd but the start date was delayed until June 18th. The project was estimated to be completed in 2 weeks but actually took 6 weeks. The job was officially finished on July 29th. So basically two months of our summer activities were cancelled in order to watch over our re-siding project. Apparently the rainy spring weather had backed up the scheduling of all their jobs and we just had to be patient while Ryan, the project manager, sorted things out. I can?t say enough good things about Ryan?s attitude and work ethic. He went above and beyond normal service to try to keep the work moving forward. He told me that he wouldn?t be satisfied with the work until I was satisfied and he meant what he said. Ryan was obviously coordinating many other jobs but always had time to discuss any issues that I had. I was particularly impressed when, toward the end of the project, he arrived at 7:30 PM to install some shutters. He works long hours and should be commended. The foreman of the crew, Steve, is also a great guy. He worked hard and led a crew of competent and friendly laborers. Steve knew how to do everything, including hanging a new garage access door and a front storm door. He made sure that my vinyl siding was installed with the seams facing in a direction that made them almost invisible from the street. Although progress was slow, Steve and his men did an exceptional job and my wife and I are exceptionally pleased with the result. We were glad when the job was finished but we were sad to say good bye to these great guys. It was fun having them around! Since the job has been completed, my neighbors have been commenting on the nice work and the new colors of the house. Would I hire this company again? Of course I would but I?d remind myself to be patient. They might take a little longer than most companies but they do an excellent job.

What's the saying? All is well that ends well? That does a pretty good job summing up our experience with CC. I can recommend them without hesitation and plan on future business. There were problems that came up, some were quite significant, but it's not so much there were challenges but more of an issue of how CC handled those issues. While the idea of residing our house was something discussed, we had ugly EIFS (aka - fake stucco) and equally noxious vinyl siding, we didn't have that push to undertake a whole-home residing project. Until, that is, we found evidence of water intrusion. The moisture found was under a window located on the main floor. And my-oh-my was there damage. All framing directly underneath this window was completely rotten. Blackened framing that looked horrible. The cause was improper flashing on a brick row which funneled water directly into the wall ? 14 years of damage, BAD. This was the first sign of trouble and what got us to move on this project. Knowing the reputation of EIFS and with the damage discovered under the window we decided it was time to get some work done. Contacted CC and other contractors to solicit a bid for the job. Keith from CC was our initial contact. We made arrangements to meet and discuss our needs and get a quote for the work to be done. The scope of the project was fairly large: - Reside house - Repair framing / insulation / vapor barrier / drywall under window due to water intrusion - Replace window - Remove top level of bricks and install a masonry cap with proper pitch When we first met Keith we were impressed with his readiness and demeanor ? I would describe it as quietly reassuring. We showed him the damaged framing and window, discussed our initial ideas on siding and what we'd like to achieve once the job was all done. With that Keith departed and informed us it would be approximately 1 week to pull together the needed information and provide us with a cost estimate. This all occurred during the Christmas holiday period so we were impressed with his attentiveness during a busy time for everyone. The cost estimate was emailed to us and provided exact detail on everything outlined. Trust me when I say, you will have few questions about the scope of their work. We reviewed their ?Siding Proposal Details? which clearly outlines what they will (and won't) do including details on what they will and won't repair should it be damaged during the siding installation process (this was relevant in our case). At this point we were reasonably confident that CC would be our choice and after a couple of back-and-forths with Keith on what our ColorPlus color choice would be we gave the green light and got things rolling. Approximately 5 weeks passed and was then notified all material were ready and CC got started. Job commenced and a crew of about 6 laborers arrived. The project manager, Jeff, made a routine appearance but otherwise the crew-lead, Chris, was the daily go-to for anything. Was told the job would take approximately 4 weeks and despite some thoroughly rotten spring weather they were true to their word. Now there were some problems along the way ? it's a big job so no surprise there. The first issue was how the crew sided a bump-out. The renderings Keith had done showed the whole of the bump-out sided in shingles. The first attempt at siding this area was not going to work ? it looked nothing like shown in renderings so we asked them to do it over. The problem was Jeff, the project manager, was not receptive to the idea. In fact he was rather obstinate. He made it clear that the job needed to get finished up and at this late stage a redo wasn't going to work. From our perspective: wrong answer. We made it clear that was not acceptable and made it clear to him. Well, perhaps we caught Jeff at a bad time, everyone has a bad day, but Chris surfaced the issue and made it clear that they'll do what they need to do to fix it. Which they did. Removed the siding as originally installed and on the second try got it spot on. Excellent. The only other issue, and this was a big one, had to do with some damage done to a whole-home generator that sits adjacent to our home. There wasn't any damage done to the generator itself ? it was the wiring within the wall near the generator. These generators are about the size of small refrigerator lying on its side. They kick on when the current cuts-out. It was discovered, while CC was installing siding near the generator, that the generator was not starting for its weekly exercise ? yes, that's what they call it, exercise. I contacted the electrician that did the installation and to make a long story short it was discovered (after a LOT of time diagnosing the problem) a nail had missed its mark, the framing stud, and pierced the wiring conduit holding the power lines running from the generator to the sub-panel - OUCH. This caused a short which prevented the generator from starting. Not good. I was informed by the electrician that none of his time was covered under the generator's warranty which meant we were on the hook for his time. And that time is EXPENSIVE. It was a BIG bill. This wasn't a pierced AC freon line. This was MANY hours of an electrician's time. I asked the electrician to directly invoice CC and informed both Keith and Jeff of what happened and our expectation that they will cover this cost. Without hesitation they informed me they would cover the cost and were fine with the direct billing by the electrician. After some back-and-forth with the electrician and CC we finally got things ironed out between the two parties and the electrician was paid for his time. All is well that ends well. Now, it should be said that one of the reason we were very enthusiastic about hiring CC is they explicitly state in their ?Siding Proposal Details? the following: CC fixes any damage to your wiring or AC-lines caused by the siding installation at no additional charge. Believe me, lots can go wrong on these jobs and this is a perfect example. At a previous home we had reside by a different contractor and with damage to our AC lines we understood the importance of having a contractor that will repair those things they damage. This is a perfect example of something that can go horribly wrong for both customer and contractor but did not because of how CC chose to deal with the issue: they were true to their word. Priceless! Strengths: - Easy to work with ? everyone, from Keith to the siding crew - Attentive and responsive - Leaves work site in good condition - Stand behind their work Would I hire CC again? Absolutely!

It's an excellent company. They were here when they said, finished it when they said and cleaned up like they said. Everything they did was really nice. I would use them again if I had a call to. It's a great company. He came out, walked us through the whole thing. He did the best. I'm very happy with what he did. This company is so good that my neighbor pause at the driveway. My neighbor slid into the house and he damaged a couple of pieces of boards, they came out and fixed it for nothing. He replaced the boards that had been damaged and didn't charge us a nickle. They have so much work, they have to be very competitive.
Description of Work: Craftsman's Choice sided our house. They ripped the old siding off and put new hardie board siding on. They put in one big window in the front. They did a couple of windows.

The Project contact was early, which was fabulous. He was very professional, however the appointment seemed very "canned" and not very personal at all. This is definitely a large company...which for us was not a plus. We were told that the person who generates the estimates are only there on the weekends, and it would be about 2 weeks before we could even see an estimate. Seems we fell through the cracks, because we still have not received an estimate. At this point, we have hired another company mainly because of their lack of responsiveness.
Description of Work: We contacted CCI and scheduled an appointment for an in-home estimate for June 13th.
