They were outstanding. They were exceptional with cleaning up after them selves each day. They also kept me informed every step of the way. They were timely and the work was of very high quality.
Description of Work: They did my roof for me. They also did some demolition for a remodel.

Description of Work: These guys are the hardest working guys I have ever seen. They started working at sunup and worked until dark to get my roofing job finished in a timely fashion. While they were not the lowest bidder for the job, they were professional and reliable. They have re-roofed three other homes on my block and all of my neighbors share my high opinion.

It took two days instead of one to complete the job (I expected more people to show up - only 3 were there the first day). They did the house the first day and the garage the second. Day two - only the owner showed up at first. His other guys called in sick. His wife showed up to help about 9:30. I also went out to help strip the shingles off the garage to help move them along because I wanted them to be done that day. This is where the problems start - there was an accident. The owner seemed more concerned with how the injury would affect his schedule than how badly the individual was hurt. My neighbors complained about the amount of loud discussions and swearing that went on the two days they were on site. We discussed the application of WinterGuard. I THINK it was applied to the house (I didn't stand there and watch, so I am not sure how much - for my house with the long eaves, by code, there needs to be at least 5'). None was applied to the garage (which, I am pretty sure, is also code). There was no kick-out flashing installed on the garage roof to direct the rain away from the house siding and into the gutter. The facia was too short (something the owner pointed out), but he didn't add any flashing to correct it, which is part of the gutter failure (more gutter issued described below). There is a foot or more of raw wood facia showing in one section - it should have been covered with flashing or metal shingles. The shingling around the chimney was described as another respected contractor as 'a hack'. The other contractors I talked to said they would have installed a ridge vent (or some sort of vents) on my garage, as well as the house. There were none installed on mine. The shingles were done on a Mon and Tue. The gutter installer didn't show until Sunday. In between those days, we had a large, heavy rain and I ended up with water in my basement, which forced me to rip out some carpet and a pad, which will require me to spend some money to get it fixed. A month later, I am still finding pieces of shingles, nails and other roof trash from the job in my yard and driveway. The gutters..... were installed by a sub-contractor. They have many issues - - the downspouts are too small (I asked for 3"x4" and I got 2" x 4") - the 'hinge' that was created in one of them to the runout at the base of the house is a 'hack', at best - the runout spouts are too short and one is so close to the house that the water pools near the house - the gutters are hung too low, so the water runs down the roof, BEHIND the gutter, into the facia, along the soffit and is coming out partway down the house wall from BEHIND my siding - the gutters aren't hung with the right slant - two of them have standing water, even on a semi-dry day And, to top it all off - the roofer would not answer his phone when I called or return my calls or text messages. His wife would call me and say he was coming, but he only APARENTLY showed up when I was at work. I was prepared to work with him to get things resolved, but ran out of time and patience when my calls weren't returned within 10 days. We didn't get decent rain until early Sep, so I wasn't able to see all the problems until then. I spent a few days getting 'second opinions' and then tried contacting them. I waited for over a week and never heard from the owner - only his wife. I have given up on this company and have other licensed contractors lined up to fix all the issues because winter weather is not far off and I need this done before the snow flies.
Description of Work: Re-shingled my house and garage

Response from Two Guys Construction Of Rochester LLC
I am sorry you feel that way. First off we are a small company, hence the name Two Guys Construction. We have Two Guys. This would be why our price is so reasonable and affordable. When I came to sign the contract with you I told you this and that most roofs take 1-2 days depending on size as they are two guys and myself for the cleanup duties. I never told you it would be done in a few hours our 1 day for that matter. If you wanted it done in 1 day and had 10 men on your roof your bill would have been a far larger price, that of a larger company that charges more. I assume that is why you went with us because we are reasonably priced because it is just two guys and it takes longer than a day for your size roof usually depending on who roofed it before and how easy the shingles come up. i informed you of this when you signed the contract and you had no problems, so going on that I am not sure why you felt the need to come up on the roof to start ripping up shingles yourself to get us done faster all of the sudden. On that note, we never actually gave you permission to use our tools and ladder to get yourself up there. or to use our tools to start ripping off your own shingles. I asked you to please stop several times and that we were not insuring you if something were to happen because all of the sudden you wanted your roof done that minute. Then you start ripping off in an area that hasn't been prepped or tarped to catch the nails and debris that fall when tearing off a roof. You flustered me, so I had to hurry and go to get a tarp to prevent nails and everything from falling all over your driveway....and then I fell....because of you. You were the last to come up and use the ladder. A home owner should never touch a contractors ladder. I had been up and down the ladder for about an hour with no problems, but then you use it and when I go to use it again, to grab a tarp to cover the area you are deridingly ripping off at the moment without asking if that is what we are ready for at the moment, it falls. I must say I realize you may have been having a bad day but I think that you have exaggerated quite bit on your comments about "hacking" your place. Also the owner does not get text on his phone, that would be a reason he did not text you back because he doesn't receive texts on the company phone, they are blocked. I called you many times to discuss your issues, my husband came over twice when you said you would be home and never were. You gave me several times you would be home for different days and he was there each and every time. You were not. I also didn't appreciate the texts, they are unprofessional. I don't text customers, ever. It is not good business practice and rather shocked me that I would call you and leave a message for you and you would text me back. I can assure you that all your roof was done to code. We asked you if you were going to ever heat the garage and you said no. That is why we told you we were not going to winter guard the garage, only around the interior wall( which is code).. I would appreciate you not slamming our company when we tried to do everything we could to make you happy. I sent the owner there. I also sent the gutter guy that we subcontracted to do your gutters. He was there also twice when you said you would be. Then the gutter guy calls me and said he got a " text " from you saying never mind. I also never went 10 days or a week without contacting you but I must say I was in the hospital and I am the office Manager. The owner does have a schedule, it's his business.Getting your roof done. That is his business. I invite you to hire any roofing professional to inspect our work, I can assure you that we stand by our work 100%. Some people are just never happy. They want everything for nothing at a moments notice. I was nice to you, never blamed you for my injury even though I had every right to., and went above and beyond trying to make you happy because that is what we do at Two Guys. We make sure the customer is happy. Never in our years of business have we dealt with a homeowner like you. To act like you didn't know how long the job would take all of the sudden, to using and moving our ladders and tools at your convenience, to lying and saying you are still finding pieces of garbage and your own roof pieces is ridiculous. If there are two things that the owner of this company is most anal about ,it is that the job is done right and looks right, but that each and every job looks clean and meticulous when we leave. To say these things is hurtful when I know they are not true. Also, We told you the fascia done by another company was not correct and told you we would fix it for you but obviously that was not in the original bid. Do you expect us to eat that cost because it costs money to replace the fascia in time and labor that we didn't do to begin with, someone else did. Also the flashing around the chimney was far superior to what was there previously when we first showed up and I do believe a siding contractor friend of yours really knows nothing about roofing. The contractor that we hired to do the gutters is also no longer with us. I actually fired him for not doing your job correctly, even though I know he tried to go over and fix it but you didn't want him to apparently, You just wanted something to complain about. Like the fact you complained about Bobs Construction the whole time we were there. I assume you have many problems with contractors because of your attitude about them. We work hard for referrals and actually have many repeat customers and happy home owners. You are actually the only home owner we have ever had a problem with and my bets are that you have problems with every contractor you come in contact with. Again, I am sorry you feel this way. We tried to fix your unhappiness but were unsuccessful apparently. I know a person who works at a desk all day doesn't necessarily know much about roofing, but I can assure you that we at Two Guys Construction stand by all our work and have many happy satisfied customers. I Thank you for being concerned for my injuries, it is appreciated. I am saddened that you would say such things about our company when I know in my heart we tried everything to make you happy and didn't succeed. I also do not appreciate the exaggerations on your part about the many things you mention that I know to not be true. Good luck with your hiring in the future. My advice to you would be to listen to what the contractor tells you and asks you, and to never ever touch your contractors ladder or tools without asking first. Thank you.
