Integrity's owner - Mr. Jay Gay can be quite charming and pleasant. I liked and trusted Mr. Gay. I wanted this business deal to be a win-win. Unfortunately, Mr. Gay intentually withheld critical information and used bullying techniques when he was caught in deceptive trade practices. Mr. Jay Gay tried to pass off a USED AC unit as a NEW AC unit, he falsified the AHRI Certification document, he falsified the RPU Rebate form and he falsified his invoice making it "appear" a NEW 15 SEER AC unit system was installed, whereas, it was not. Red Flags: Mr. Jay Gay refused to let me look at, or take the paperwork from the box he delivered the AC unit in. He grabbed the paperwork from my hand and put it inside his trunk. Mr. Gay refused to leave me the AC manual. I repeatedly asked Mr. Gay for all the paperwork for all the equipment installed. When I asked clarifying questions, Mr. Gay said, "You ask too many questions. Most customers don't care about the things your are asking, they (customers) just want their manufacturer warranty and RPU rebate." August 4, 2017 - *8:15 AM I meet Mr. Jay Gay to discuss a fair market reduction in the overall price based upon the lack of full disclosure, installing a USED exterior AC unit and an interior coil unit that did not meet the 15 SEER AHRI Certification. Mr. Gay admitted he did all the above, However, he refused to negotiate a fair market value reduction for the actual equipment installed and used bullying techniques to get me to pay him full price for something that was not installed. Mr. Gay abruptly left our negotiating meeting. Without notice to me, at approximately 3:30 PM (Friday August 4th - same day), Mr. Gay, trespassed onto my property and CUT the exterior AC unit from my house resulting in damages to the house, AC line set and AC electrical line. A report with the Rochester MN police department was filed. Mr. Gay installed this AC unit on Tuesday July 11, 2017 and ripped it out of the my house on Friday August 4, 2017. A complaint was also filed with MN Attorney General - Ms. Lori Swanson. In addition, Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) about the falsified RPU Rebate Form and they began an investigation. According to RPU, other customers' RPU rebate forms (looked at 2017 only) and invoices from Integrity HVAC (looked at 2017 only) were falsified (installed equipment serial numbers did not match the manufacturer model numbers listed on the following forms: RPU Rebate form, ARHI certification or Integrity HVAC's invoice. In conclusion, according to RPU, it appears most customers of Integrity HVAC were unaware they did not receive the energy efficient systems they thought they purchased and their HVAC systems do not meet the RPU rebate criteria. In addition, some customers reported they did not see the RPU rebate form nor personally sign the RPU rebate forms prior to it being submitted to RPU by Integrity - Mr. Jay Gay.
Description of Work: Replace exterior AC unit and interior coil with a NEW AC unit and NEW compatible interior coil to meet 15 SEER rating. Integrity installed a USED AC unit that was previously installed and the manufacturer warranty had already been issued to another owner's house in Lakeville MN. I live in Rochester MN. Integrity's owner Mr. Jay Gay tried to pass off the AC Unit as NEW "out of the box". Inside coil unit did not match the exterior AC unit, therefore, the overall AC unit did not achieve the 15 SEER rating (AHRI) nor the RPU rebate ($250) as stated in Integrity's quote document.

Jay bid and agreed to install a hot water heater and repair a small portion of drywall and trim behind the water heater. It was not my choice to use him, he was agreed upon as part of a house sale agreement. Since we were under time constraints I figured I'd give him a chance to earn my future business. I had to call him several times over the course of a month to get him to commit to a day and time to fix my issue. Jay showed up on the agreed upon day (Friday) and time and performed what I initially thought was a complete and good job. After finishing the agreed upon work, Jay stated that it ended up being a lot less work then when he initially bid the job and was really quite easy. I was happy to hear this as I thought he would charge less then what was bid. Fast forward to two days later (Sunday). I happened to walk by my water softener unit and water was flowing out of the top of the unit. After closer inspection, Jay had taken it upon himself to completely reconfigure the drainage system of the water softener without consulting me. Keep in mind, there was nothing wrong with the drainage system as it was set up and it worked without any issue. In order to stop the leaking I had to manually remove the water out of the water softener with a cup so it didn't flow onto the floor. I texted and called Jay to see if he could walk me through what the problem may be, he didn't reply. Once the water was removed from the softener I was able to find the problem. It was the drainage system that Jay had changed without permission. I was able to temporarily fix the problem after about 2.5 hours of manually dumping water from the softener into my wash machine to prevent it from going into the floor as the softener was cycling. On my final attempt to reach Jay, I let him know that I had diagnosed the problem. He finally replied to my text and it was agreed that he would come back and fix the drainage setup right away in the morning. Jay showed up at the agreed upon time and was very rude and defensive about what he had die. I asked him why he had changed the drainage set up without my permission. He said that he had taken it upon himself to change because he knew the buyers of the property would want it that way. (This was untrue as the buyers had agreed in writing to the fixes of the drywall, trim, and water heater replacement. The was no mention of the water softener). I told him again about how I had to spend 2.5 hours fixing something that he was not authorized to change. I asked him if he could help me out on the cost of the initial work. This seemed like a reasonable request since he had stated it was less work then he thought when he initially bid it and he had created a problem that was not previously there by performing an unauthorized change of the drainage setup. He immediate said "If you don't pay me the full amount, I'll put a mechanics lien on your property. That'll mess up your sale." I never said that I wasn't going to pay him, I just wanted him to understand the problems that his unauthorized changing of the drainage system had caused. Jay continued to make comments as he was working about mechanics liens, ripping the work out, and just leaving with out fixing his mistake. Jay changed the drainage system again but it's still not back to the original. When I came home from work after he had left the water softener was cycling. It was STILL leaking on the floor. I had to spend another hour sealing the drainage system so it wouldn't leak anymore. In short, he changed a fully functioning drainage system without my permission that caused a leak and made repairs outside of the pre-agreed bid. I had to complete the job because of his workmanship. I would not recommend Jay for any home repairs. He will not stand by his work and will become rude and threatening when questioned. This all because of something he did on his own without permission and outside of an agreed upon bid.

Full disclosure: Jay installed used gutters, not new gutters, on the front of our house. He reviewed all of the gutter components prior to installation and it all passed his inspection. Jay installed gutters on the front of our house on 10/13/15. Unfortunately they leaked at all the joints and the last 1/3 of the gutter doesn't fully drain. I emailed Jay on 11/11/15 re the leak. He emailed on 11/22/15 and said he drove by the previous week to look. I emailed him on 12/30/15 and he did not respond. Since it was winter, I figured it was too cold to fix anything, so I emailed him on 4/29/16. His response: "Unfortunately I can not warranty material that was installed and used. The gutter clips and joints are missing and or have dried up cracked seals. Although I caulked when installed and as a courtesy caulked again it may be wise to just get a real 5" k style gutter installed." I emailed him on 6/6/16 asking for clarification about missing components since he approved everything before installation. No response. I emailed Jay on 6/20/16 with a video of the gutter leaking. Jay responded on 6/22/16 and asked if I had checked that the gutters weren't plugged up. I emailed on 6/23/16 and said I had unplugged the downspout 3+ weeks prior. Jay responded on 6/23/16 and said "I suggest u get a real seamless gutter installed." I emailed him twice since June 2016 and proposed he send me a small refund ($15) which would cover the necessary supplies for me to fix the problem and I wouldn't bother him anymore. He never responded. His suggestions that I purchase new gutters was not acceptable. I expected more from a business named Integrity. FYI #1: during the install he said this was only his 3rd gutter install. In one of his emails he recommended a different guy for gutters next time. FYI #2: I purchased supplies at Menards and fixed the leaks myself.
