+ -1 moreWe wanted to give the room a and quot;lookand quot; and increase lighting by a factor of 2 in the cooking area. The recommended solution was a track set with spots and two pendants, under counter lighting - which was already installed, and a pendant over the sink. The result was less lighting then before without the possibility to increase bulb wattage. We told our assistant that the lighting was unacceptable and that more light was needed, perhaps a higher wattage bulb. After looking for bit the assistant suggested we see what was available at Home Depot or Lowes. We found that the maximum wattage currently available was only 50 watts. To add to our displeasure the electrician they recommended charged us 10 hours labor to install the track set and one ceiling fan with light. I found this to be crazy expensive. We installed the pendants.

Description of Work: The project was a complete remodel of a dining room and adjacent living room. The living room is used as art studio and art display area, and our dining room has a lot of artwork in it. So work and display lighting was crucial for us. We were working primarily with a design group who routinely use Bright Ideas on a consulting basis. I was disappointed that no one at Bright Ideas, nor with our designer, was very knowledgeable about providing maximal lighting for work and/or displays. Whatever was initially put in was grossly inadequate; we had it changed a year later after we demonstrated to them what was really meant and needed for studio and display lighting. That is, with the work area constructed and art on the walls, they had a better understanding of these issues. One might argue that studios and art displays are unique, but I beg to differ: if it was an office or any other work area where suitable lighting was requested, the issues are still the same.
