+ 0 moreWe put on a sunroom, a bedroom suite and a mud room. Full basement. Contractor kept on the subcontractors on time and on schedule. We started each week with a what was going to happen. Who was coming to do it and what we could expect that could disrupt us. I thought it went very well. Other than some weather problems, lots of rain the project stayed on schedule. I am very pleased.
Description of Work: Built an 1,800 addition onto our house.

+ 0 moreGood, he came back two or three times to address our concerns and do the work. Replaced a warped stair hand rail board, put in a brace under our stairs as they are the longest by code. No bouncing no sagging they feel very solid now.

+ 1 moreAfter the initial sticker shop of a dream garage I had to start making compromises. Batzel Builders was the only contractor that was responding in a reasonable time. Then when I was ready to start I learned that I had to apply for a variance that took 2 months and we missed a start time until spring, but even got delayed. All the delay was due to me and not the contractor. While I waited out winter the contractor called periodically just to stay in touch and helped fine-tune the details of some of the work. I changed my mind countless times but the contractor stayed the course and even made suggestions for many of the ideas I had. He was great to work with. Most contractors want to know all the details when bidding and insist on sticking to it. I had one contractor drop off because he didn't like all the changing. If you want near perfection, the ability to make changes, responsible work and a fun person to work with you can't go wrong with Dustin Batzel of Batzel Builders. Yes, I may have put this garage over budget but I also have closest thing to my original dream garage. I couldn't be happier with the result.

+ 3 moreIn all of my encounters with Dustin, he was very professional, friendly, and easy to get hold of. He was always punctual, showed up on time, and when he said he would. When he was on the job, he was always working, and never loitered. He finished on time, on budget, and was up front about what was necessary to do, and tried to save me money where he could. He was very accommodating to my very curious daughter, and after he replaced the garage door, he was even kind enough to have the new knob rekeyed so I would not have to do it. I also had a few baseboards that I needed to install from an unfinished personal project, and he did that for me at no charge. When you hire Dustin, he is the person that will be on site doing the work, and so if you have any concerns or issues, he will be there to answer. This was the first time I had to hire a contractor, and was nervous about it. However, Dustin really did a great job, and in fact I have hired him to do some more work. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Our house needed all nine windows and the sliding glass patio door replaced. On the exterior, we needed one service door to the garage and sections of the Masonite siding and other trim replaced. The casement windows and doors in our house were constructed of wood. Most of them were rotten through, and the mechanisms were all broken. They needed to be fully replaced before the frame of the house started to rot - the same situation for the sliding glass door to the deck. Some parts of the siding, and the trim to some of the exterior doors were starting to rot as well, including the siding on the entire chimney. The work included removing the old windows and doors, including the old framing and trim. Unlike some companies, Dustin took out the entire window and the entire door, down to the frame of the house as to remove all rotten parts. That way, any damaged wood was removed. After everything was removed, new, Hayfield vinyl slider windows and an Anderson sliding patio door were installed. After installation of the doors and windows, all new trim was installed on the interior. On the exterior, affected portions of the siding, trim, and service door were removed and replaced with new counterparts. Dustin disposed of all the debris. We also needed to have the exterior of our house painted, and Dustin collaborated with the painters so that they could paint the windows and trim before installation, and they could paint the house after he was finished. It was nice that they worked out their schedules, so I didn’t have to organize anything.

+ -1 moreHe was wonderful. The laminate floor is beautiful. He is now doing the crown molding in our base; he's 95 percent done so we can say we are very happy with him. He is a very good craftsman and knows what he is doing. It went excellent. He is fair, precise and looks at detail. I will continue to use him in the future.

After a home inspection, the buyers of our house requested drywall be installed in areas of our garage and basement. Our realtor recommended Dustin Batzel. He exceeded my expectations in all areas. He got right to work, didn't leave a mess, was easy to communicate with and did a great job. I highly recommend him for drywall or possibly any home improvement job.
