"BUYER BEWARE!!! We bought a Samsung washer and dryer from Appliance Village because they had a good reputation in Rochester. Our Kenmore washer had finally died and I wanted a large washer so I could wash the bedspreads. When my husband and I first arrived, the salesman did not ask what we were interested in. I tried to tell him what I was specifically looking for in a washer but he kept interrupting me with his sales pitch. I finally told him, "I want the largest washer for the bedspreads that will fit in my space." We bought a front loader Samsung washer and dryer for about $2,000. The salesman really wanted us to buy the extended warranty, but as a Consumer Reports reader, I told him "We will know if we got a lemon very soon." When the Appliance Village installer came to install the appliances, the installers left trash (not a whole lot) on the lawn. When I went to test the washer, it did not work. Discovered they did not plug the washer in. Not only did the washer leak water out the front, the dryer rattled very loud until it heated up. We called Appliance Village, telling them we had lemons and they made us go through the whole process of contacting Samsung for service. Quite a paper trail. It took 2 repairman to tell us the dryer drum "was not round" and needed to be replaced. Today the repairman came out. He replaced the drum but it is not the drum that comes with our model. It looks used!!!!! And the repairman did not hook up the dryer vent and the laundry room felt like a sauna when I ran a test load. The washer...the repairman said our washer was not leveled and that was why it leaked water out the front. Well,,,,I ran a load after he left and it still leaks water. My husband and I will pay a visit to Appliance Village tomorrow and tell them what we think of them. After this, I really miss our local Sears store. We have bought Kenmore appliances forever and they run forever. The installers and repairmen were top notch. So, if you go to Appliance Village I hope you have a better experience than what we are having. It is not over yet. I may report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Description of Work: Was supposed to replace the washer seal as the washer was leaking. Was supposed to replace the dryer drum as it was defective.

The service man who came to fix our dryer was super old, very, VERY strange, and made me uncomfortable being home alone with him in my basement. He was only at our home about 15 minutes and he decided that our dryer just needed a new fuse and the problem would be solved. He replaced the $5 fuse, and got the dryer to turn on, but didn't test it. He announced it was fixed, charged me $200 for the labor and the fuse, so I wrote him a check. Our problem was NOT fixed; we still had burning-hot clothes and smoke smells when running our dryer. My husband researched the problem online and found that the heating element needed replacement. We ordered the part ourselves, he replaced it himself (thank you, Google) and it's been working fine ever since. $200 down the tubes - no thanks to Appliance Village! Glad my husband is a smart guy.

Craig was very professional and accommodating. I would recommend Appliance Village to anyone.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator quit working and freezer, we had to throw out a lot of food. I called three places and Appliance Village is the only place that would help us. We live approximately 40 miles from Rochester. When he came he was very professional. After checking everything we explained the problem. It was the relay switch and not the compressor. We were very happy to hear that!

We had a Frigidaire dishwasher that, at only one year old, started to make strange noises. We called Frigidaire since the dishwasher was still under warranty. They gave us the name of Appliance Village as a recommended repair service. Upon calling appliance village, the person on the other end was very courteous and efficiently scheduled a service appointment with a 2 and 1/2 hour range (i.e. the repair person will be there between 2pm and 4:30pm). We were also told that Craig would be our repair man. On the scheduled day of service, Craig was at our house promptly at 2:00pm and began to diagnose the problem. Within 15 minutes he found that a bearing on the motor had dislodged and that we would need a new motor. Despite being frustrated with the Frigidaire product, we were pleased with Craig's professionalism and speed. He charged us $45 for the visit, but said that this amount could be applied toward the labor total upon completion of the repair if we chose to use Appliance Village. After contacting Frigidaire and getting a parts concession number, we contacted Appliance Village once again and they promptly scheduled Craig to visit us to complete the repair. The part was available within a week and Craig came back. He completed the repair in well under an hour and was very thorough; testing the dishwasher before he left. We have had some problems with the dishwasher since then, but they are related to the product, not to the service. We would hire Appliance Village and Craig again any day.
Description of Work: In-home dishwasher repair estimate given. Dishwasher part ordered. Dishwasher motor replaced. Two separate visits by repair man. Coordination of repair estimate, part ordering, and return visit for repair.

He did an excellent job. I called him on Friday night and he came on Monday. He gave us the information right upfront, so we knew right away what needed to be done. Our refrigerator was also not working, but that was unrepairable. If there is a need, I would use him again in the future too.
Description of Work: Appliance Village Co repaired an ignition switch in our stove in April.
