This company, which also sells services under the name SeasonGreen, was impossible to deal with. They never contacted me after missing all of the scheduled dates that I had offered. I called them and they scheduled this along with work for SeasonGreen that was not going well. There after they missed three appointments and arrived late for the fourth. What ensued was beyond anything that I have ever experienced. Jim Michaelson, the owner proceeded to lecture me on how busy they were and how I should be happy with the fact that he actually showed up. "We get 100s of calls a day," he said. After his ranting for 15 minutes I asked him to leave. No work was performed. I would never advise using this company.

Excellent experience: Easy to reach via phone, on time for appointment, professional, knowledgeable and job done quickly. Also, Jim went above and beyond to diagnose a 'surging' problem he noticed and that we also had noticed last year. No pressure at all to fix it the same day but he gave detailed information info on probable cause and possible solution if the problem persisted or became worse. Also volunteered several ideas on steps to take during winter storage to maintain a better mower and parts. Would definitely recommend based on this experience.

First of all, I travel.... alot. I purchased 3/13/17 with an expiration date of 9/9/17. 3 days after purchase received an email from provider suggesting dates of 3/20 or 3/22 to which i did not respond since I was out of the country. On April 12 I received another email suggesting the date of 4/18 (Easter Monday) between 10 and 12. Again I did not reply as I was traveling and returned home on 4/14 the day before a holiday weekend. On Monday 4/18 my young adult daughter called my office and said there was a guy who showed up to work on the lawnmower so she let him in the garage. I told her I had to call her in a couple of minutes as I was with a client. Called her back and asked her to hand the phone to him. I asked why he was there without an appointment? He replied because I had not responded to his emails ( this offer does not expire for 5 more MONTHS) I told him I travel alot and would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with him directly ahead of time, arrange an appointment (or bring the mower to his shop based on that conversation that did not happen) rather than him assuming it was acceptable to just show up. I indicated to him that I would have provided a new blade etc to be installed but he responded to not worry that he had sharpened the existing one. That was fine. I proceeded to tell him that the recoil/rewind rope had been acting up in the fall and could he check it... again something I would have discussed prior to arrival. A few minutes later he called back on my daughters phone and said he had changed oil, sharpened the blade and the recoil/rewind seemed to be fine but after this he could now not start the mower. I said, yes in the fall i could not get it to start either partly because the rope came out a couple of times. He yells at me and says "why didn't you tell me that? " I responded that if we had actually SCHEDULED an appointment that would have been discussed at that time but I never got the chance to do that since he just showed up ! He was very disgruntled at me pointing out that FACT and he said " I'm leaving now and will just tell Angie's List no charge. " and he promptly hung up on me. I waited a few minutes because I was so flabbergasted at the whole situation and somehow he had it turned around that I had created this situation. I called my daughter back and asked her to hand him the phone but he refused to answer and left. I simply wanted to hear what exactly I had done wrong in this situation?????? Unfortunately, now after the fact, I have read the mixed reviews on this provider and the bad ones are really bad and sound fairly similar to my experience - guy is mad at the world. So I now am $89 into a lawnmower that does not run, granted a tune up would not necessarily remedy it not starting but I could not know if that was because he rope kept coming out or some other reason. I would have been willing to take this mower to his shop for repair AND the purchased tune up had we had a conversation about it prior to him showing up with no confirmed appointment. I don't believe him "suggesting" a time in an email qualifies as an appointment made. Simply filed this claim as a follow on to his statement of "no charge" I don't think I will even waste my time writing a review.But now need to find a responsible, civil, reputable provider to service my mower successfully and am already out $89.

The service was great; I would use this company again.
Description of Work: Needed snowblower prepared for storage. He showed me that this was not needed and showed me that the choke can be used in graduation so he said he would not charge for the snowblower because nothing was needed. He said I need to connect with Angie's List for a refund on the snowblower. Jim came on my first choice date to perform the work. He is extremely pleasant and gets right to work. He listened to my concerns about my snowblower and determined it may need the gas-line replaced (as it was crumbling) and the carburetor was leaking. After finishing the tune-up, he said he will be contacting me about getting my snowblower into his shop for the extra work. I'm REALLY pleased he caught these things and will have my machine ready for next winter. I would highly recommend Jim and his repair shop. I'll provide a new review after the other repairs are finished.

I purchased tune ups for my lawn mower and snow blower for approximately $180.00. Late on March 16th I received an email from Jim of Twin City Small Engine asking if I could confirm a scheduled appointment time of April 3 between 11 and 2. On March 17 I replied to the email and confirmed that time and provided the make and model of my mower and snow blower as requested. On April 3 I placed the mower and snow blower outside as requested. It takes some work to do that as the mower is in the back in a shed and I need to get out plywood and place it on stairs and then push the mower up the stairs and then bring it to the front yard. The same needs to be done with the snow blower. I scheduled my day around this appointment and spend all morning and part of the afternoon at home due to the scheduled appointment. When the Jim did not appear for the appointment, the next day I contacted Angie’s list and asked for assistance in getting the work rescheduled. I also used Angie’s list messaging system to contact Jim to let him know he had missed the appointment. He replied through Angie’s list that he had never hear back from me to his March 16th email and offered to schedule something for this week. On April 4 I sent an email to Jim letting him know that I had replied to his March 16 email and provided him with a copy of it. I also confirmed he could come the next day to do the work and asked him to reply and confirm. When I did not hear from him, I tried to contact Jim at TC Small Engine to see if I could get the time confirmed for the work. The next morning, I had not heard from Jim confirming the time for the work so I left a voice mail message on Wed. morning before business hours. I then called him again during business hours when I didn’t get a response to my voice mail message. Jim answered, said he was sorry about the miscommunication and agreed to come out between 11 and noon that day April 5 to do the work between 11 and noon. I again had to get the mower and snow blower out of the shed as described above and put them in the front of the house. Jim then sent a message through Angie’s list saying he was cancelling the appointment because I was not “a good fit.” I called Jim and he answered. I told him I again had move everything out of storage and to the front yard and would appreciate knowing why he had cancelled and why I was not a good fit. He replied that I had that I had failed to confirm the Monday appointment, I had contacted Angie’s list for assistance in rescheduling the appointment, and he that is why he did not think me a good fit and he suggested I get a refund. I then sent a message through Angie’s List messaging system to Jim again attaching the 3/17 email I had sent confirming the appointment so he could understand I had replied. He wrote back (even after seeing a copy of the email) that I had not replied to any of his communications. He then questioned whether I was trying to receive the service for free or at a discount (I had already pre-paid for the service). Suffice it to say I would never recommend Twin City Small Engine to my friends or ever want them to enter my property or service my equipment after this troubling episode.

Excellent. I talked to them immediately and they picked up my snowblower the same day. They under-promised and over delivered. I expected work to be performed in 7-14 days, but they had it fixed and delivered back to me in just a few days. They said they knew a big snowstorm was coming, so wanted to ensure that I had the snowblower back before the snow hit. Fast, friendly service. Really nice guys.

It was easy to find, the provider explained some things to me like that I should always use premium gas in the snowblower, which I did not know. The work was done in a few days and the snowblower started just fine for the next time I needed it.
