We did not buy our TV from Best Buy but that doesn't matter to the Geek Squad. We were extremely impressed. Geek Squad sent two technicians to our house. They unhooked and moved our old 52" rear projection TV and installed our new 70" TV and integrated the Blu-Ray, cable and TV all into our existing audio system. Installers James F. and Jason B. were prompt, courteous, friendly and thorough. When everything was neatly in place we were given a complete tutorial on how everything worked and encouraged to call if any problems came up (their work is guaranteed for a year). They took away all the packaging from the new TV, as well.
Description of Work: Set up our new 70" smart TV and integrated all our home entertainment devices into our existing audio system.

What I liked was they were very helpful in picking out the radio. The installation was done very well and quickly. They were professional and courteous. The one thing that I did not like was that this particular vehicle required a different adapter kit than the ones they normally stock, so it had to be ordered. They told us that it would take four or five days to order it, get it in, and install it. We did not have time for that because my wife was leaving for a trip in a few days. We were able to go online, and were able to get the part like overnight. Why couldn’t they do that? That was kind of strange and annoying.

Geek Squad came in and fixed my home wireless network. After 2 years of bad signal with a router and PD card, they came in with another idea - a sling box. Works beautifully! No problems with bad signals and it is much faster than before.

Terrible. I will never use the geek squad again.
Description of Work: Purchased a computer in March 2009. Had them set it up which was not done to my expectations. Also contacted the individual who set up again and he never responded. Also, purchased a warranty and when I needed help today was told I would have to bring the computer in and they would have to send things off to the manufacturer. What a ripoff. Cost $160 for new computer set up which was never finished and for a two year warranty for $130, I basically get nothing. I am totally disappointed. Will be using my old computer guy from now on. He was cheaper, better and the experiences I have had with him have been very enjoyable. He is so helpful. The Geek Squad is as bad as I have been led to believe.

I wanted to set up a wireless network. I also wanted the company to trouble shoot why one computer was running slowly and why another was getting an error screen. I went to the store (Best Buy) to schedule an appointment. Well you can't do that there. You have to call an 800 number. I asked the guy at Geek Squad what I needed. He said I needed a router so I bought one. Geek Squad guy says they will look at my computer when the guy comes out. I TOLD him that we had Verizon as a DSL provider AND IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO DO. The guy behind the counter said no. I call the 800 number and navigate the voice mail service prompting. Finally get to talk to a human being. States it will cost $199 to set up a wireless network. Tell them it will include setting up the DSL modem. No problem they say. Ask if this will include trouble shooting computers that do not work well. No problem they say. Geek squad person state this will include setting up wireless printer. I did not ask for this but said fine I will take that too. Again explained they will have to set up the modem. Again told, no problem. I THEN ASKED IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO DO (see a pattern?) No I was told. Geek squad guy gets out here. States hooking up modem costs extra, troubleshooting costs extra, states hooking up wireless printer costs extra. SO WARNING BE AWARE OF THE GEEK SQUAD BAIT AND SWITCH. Then tries to hook up the wireless network. Line is not connected. Geek squad guy states, Did you call Verizon to see if the line is activated? I said no, Verizon people stated it would be activated by such and such a date. Geek Squad guy says, "Well Verizon says that but you have to check." I say "I asked people in your company several times is there anything I need to do and they said no." Does not address trouble shooting other computers. Just leaves and reschedules. Geek Squad guy number two comes out a few days later. Charges us more to set up the wireless printer and modem. Then states we don't need router, "but it will not be a hassle to return it." Messes up my wife's computer while installing the wireless network. States that he cannot trouble shoot why my computer is slow and why another computer's software is not working correctly. That we need to bring it into the store. Well it would have been nice if you had told us that sooner. Take the router back and get hassled by the Best Buy people. Went to Geek Squad desk. Stated that I wanted to talk to a manager, that I was tired of getting the run around. Asks what the problem is, told him just part of the story. The Geek Squad guy states, "we assume that you would know about the DSL line, the modem, etc, etc." I ask this idiot, "If I knew what I was doing WHY WOULD I BE HIRING YOU?" It is at this point I decide that I no longer want to do business with them. So bottom line, if you want attitude, the run around, and the bait and switch, feel free to call Geek Squad.

I talked to a store rep prior to my audio installation appointment and they said there would be only a basic labor charge if I purchased the installation kit, they showed me. After making the purchase and waiting a week to get in at a time open, the installers told me it was the wrong kit and they could not put in the deck as it was.
