Description of Work: Hail damaged roof replaced. New gutters and deck stain. Work was done well but some minor issues with subcontractors.

Description of Work: Rick is a great salesman, unfortunately his company did not preform as well as he hyped up building a deck. During sales meeting, he didn't have the color we wanted but said he could get a sample. After three weeks, the sample came. Unfortunately it wasn't what we wanted but we had a plan B. Rick did not inform us that because we changed the materials, the design of the deck would change. Materials sounded like they where coming from a secret source when reality it was our local hardware store. Materials that where dropped off where not communicated to the driver thus killed our grass and caused damage to mailboxes. Issue was brought to Rick's attention, but was never followed through.Day one of construction was delayed for two weeks due to no building permit. The quality of the wood selected was subpar. The workmanship of the deck was terrible. I called Rick to express our issues, he came out and insisted that everything was fine and that we where getting to nit picky and it would pass inspection. It didn't. The first inspector said, "What we approved and what they built is two different things." The main pillings where three feet off, thus causing a three feet over hang on main beem. Main beem has noticeable twist a bow to it. The main beem had a two inch gap between the piling (a wedge was driven in to correct the problem, not the way we wanted it fixed). Stairs where not to code. The crew did come back to fix code issues and it ultimately passed minimum inspection when completed. We expressed our concerns with the lack of quality of the deck and the reply we got back from Rick was ,"Well that's what you get for ordering a rough cut deck." (In later conversations, Rick swears that I called it a rough cut deck and he has never used that term before). During the two and half month construction (originally agreed a three day job), the crew had dumped personal and other job site trash in our dumpster. I told Rick to remove the garbage from the dumpster and that if they acted promptly they could use our personal garbage, it was was removed four hours later. |Because of these issues did not get addressed promptly, we cancelled the final payment and filed a complaint with the BBB(Case was later removed from BBB because they no longer provide this service) and with the Department of Labor. |I contacted Rick and tried informing him what was going on. He responded by saying he was done talking to us and to talk to his lawyer and hung up the phone. I let him cool down for a couple of days before I contacted him. We both agreed that if he dropped the overall price by $1,000 that neither of us would seek any legal action against each other and there would be no more communication between us. |Last week a company rep called us to see if wanted to hire them to build a deck. I was little taking back because I thought it was over. I explained what had happened, the rep was apologizing because there was no notes. I said I understood and she thanked me for explaining it to her. |

Description of Work: I contracted My Exteriors to add a 168 square foot addition onto my kitchen last winter. After meeting with the owner Rick and going over what I wanted done and signing a contract as well as a scope of work my wife and I were very excited to get moving on the project. At that point we also wrote My Exteriors a check for approxiametly 25% of the cost. After a month of waiting I contacted Rick and he told me they were still working on the plans. I continued to contact Rick, but through out the whole summer, they never drew up any plans for the addition, much less did any work on our house. I had to contact him repeatedly by email and phone to get any responses from him. He did eventually tell me that he had fired his whole CAD department and that was the reason for the delay. He also at that point gave me back my down payment minus the nonrefundable deposit. At that point I gave him until September 1 to have plans done (because it was too late to hire any other contractor that summer). When September 1st rolled around I started trying to contact him, but didn't hear back from him until September 5th and there were still no plans for my addition. At that point he did refund me my deposit (which was supposed to be nonrefundable), but I was still very disappointed because I had wasted the entire summer and had nothing to show for it. I would not recommend My Exteriors to anyone. They repeatedly blew deadlines, were extremely hard to get in contact with, were completely unprofessional and never started, much less finished any of the work I contracted them to do.
