The storm that hit Northern Minneapolis suburbs was a big one in June 2017. Aspen Exteriors kept us in the loop on all delays and steps throughout the process. They always returned calls and were very professional. Our work is completed and we are very happy with the work that was done.

I recently attended a Conference "kick off" that Aspen Exteriors had. I must say on both professional and personal level, I really was impressed with the amount of outstanding positive impact, and devotion that was above and beyond for each and every employee, and their customers. I felt assured that the lead partners have managed the Business "projects" with detail, and Organization, And accountability for results will never be delegated. "Definitely proven track record that has the ability to successfully transform a plan into Reality". It appears that it was the team's Extraordinary Commitment to Excellence, in customer service and support that motivated them to always go the extra mile. This was a Outstanding, Impressive, and Satisfying Impact I had the pleasure to attend! As I have felt compelled to go on record with praise, these people truly deserve it. Aspen Exteriors did a great job replacing our roof last fall. They were helpful in working with our insurance company and did a great job of making sure the yard was cleaned up after they were done. Our roof looks great! I would recommend them to anyone!

Unfortunately my home was damaged in a hail storm. Aspen was very easy to work with. They came onsite when my insurance adjuster came out to make sure nothing was missed by them. Everything was scheduled very promptly and they always kept in contact with me throughout the whole process. I couldn’t be more satisfied! All the work turned out great. I would recommend Aspen Exteriors to get any exterior work done! Huge thanks to Bryan Bowen and everyone else at Aspen. Thanks, Jonathan Erickson, a very satisfied customer

For the first appointment, the sales person did not show up. I waited 30 minutes and called and the sales person stated he would be there in 30 minutes as we was at another location close by. I understood as the area was hit with a rather large hail storm. He reviewed the property and said what could be done based on what he thought the insurance adjuster would say. Himself being a former adjuster. He said to call him once I made an appointment with the insurance adjuster as would like to be onsite when he was there, which I did a week in advance of the adjuster coming and I made sure I gave him the correct time. On the that day the sales person did not show. Once again I called when he did not show up for the appointment and he said he thought the meeting time was for 30 minutes later. He was on another call, again, and would get there as soon as he could. He never showed, so therefore I went with a different contractor. I cannot say anything about the quality of the week since none was done. I can only speak to the professionalism and the punctuality. Nothing bugs me more than not showing up, but I did give him some slack since I knew it was a large area that was hit. However, at the very least, show up.......

It has been good. They had an excellent initial customer experience. They came out and informed us of the damage that we had. They were good partner with dealing with the insurance. The install was done really well. The communication with the roof was great but it went down a little when they switched to gutters. They didn't communicate thoroughly or advance notice with the install of the gutters.

I was skeptical at first about using an out of town company for my storm damage repairs. That skepticism was removed after talking with Lauren. They worked with our insurance company Liberty Mutual and took care of most of the work. Communication was great. I would always receive a call back the next day when I left a voice message. Great friendly customer service and they use quality material. The crew that replace my roof did an excellent job on the roof and were respectful of our home. The replaced gutters looked very nice.

We scheduled an approximate date and within 2 weeks of the install projected date they called to set up the exact date. The crew arrived about 8 AM just as they said they would and began working within a few minutes of arriving. They removed and replaced 40 square of shingles on a 7/12 pitch roof in one day. I am a very particular individual and I can say without any doubt they did a great job! The only glitch we ran into was the fact that they wanted some siding removed so they could make sure the roof was water tight and unfortunately I was not told that earlier so that I could get that done ahead of time but they helped and we go tit done in a couple of hours.
Description of Work: Removed and installed 40 square of asphalt shingles due to storm damage. The company also helped me resolve my insurance settlement and I am certain that without their intervention my insurance company would not have settled the claim at the amount that we finally got for the damage.

Our experience was good. The roof was on the same house that the fire was on. We had to put off putting on a new roof until the exterior from the smoke was finished. They were easy to work with. We found them by seeing signs in yards where there had been a lot of hail damage. The only downside was that they left materials in the yard. We called and they came out and cleaned it up.

The roof was first installed over a year ago. It was not installed appropriately which caused roof leaks inside my house. I had to have them return 2 times to fix the roof, and reseal the parts they missed. I had to have a seperate contractor come in to repair the damages done on the inside of my house. They offered little to no help in arranging to have that contractor complete the work on time, and to complete it. Start to finish, it took well over a year to complete the project completely. I asked for the warranty in writing, and I still have not received it. My experiences with them is that they do not willingly complete the work 100%, and when they are pushed to satisfy the contract do the work grudgingly. This was a bad experience that I wish had turned out another way.

Andy spent 1/2 hour on roof taking pictures and measuring. He then came in and looked at ceiling where I have had a minor leak since the snow melted last spring. Then he went into the attic when I told him about water on roof decking for more pictures. He was full of questions as he went along with his work that the other 2 sales reps from the other companies seemed not to interested in. He then went back on the roof and looked around for a few more minutes. He came back down and informed me that the roof was only about 10 years old.(I bought the house 2 years ago) He went back on the roof and pulled a couple nails and old tape from above leaking area (an old fix?) Put a couple pieces of duct tape down and flooded area with water from the hose. No Leak! Explained to me more permanant ways to take care of the problem. I just saved thousands of dollars! I was so impressed I thought I would sign up for angies list and let people know my experience. Thanks Andy!!
Description of Work: Andy came out to give me an estimate on a new roof, as I received 2 estimates from other companies ranging from $8300 to $9800.

This is the first time I have ever written a review for or against any compay or service. I contacted two companies to check roof. I won't mention the name of the company I didn't use. The company I used to replace my roof was Aspen Exteriors, Inc. The sales person who came to my home was well informed. he took me through the whole process of what would happen. He measured my roof, showed me the damaged areas and explained in detail what would be done. I was very amazed by efficiency and effectiveness of the process. All the work and scheduling were perfect. The crew on the job was very neat and kept the job site clean. The crew was very pleasant and answered all my questions in full detail. I am very impressed by Aspen Exteriors and would use them again.

We are homeowners who are in the process of building an addition on our house. My Husband is doing the majority of the work. However, when it came to roofing, he didn’t want to tackle that. We contacted Aspen as we had heard of their excellent reputation. They certainly lived up to it! Aspen laborers arrived on site promptly and began working immediately. They worked quickly and neatly. We didn’t have a dumpster available, so Aspen took the initiative to place the debris under an anchored tarp. This kept the debris in place and kept the construction site clean. Aspen completed the job in just one day. The owner of the company visited the site and asked if we had any questions. He was professional and courteous. We wanted to tip him, but he refused, stating that it was a pleasure to serve us. We would highly recommend to family and friends. We would gladly use them again. Aspen exceeded our expectations, and we’re very satisfied with the results. Our roof looks beautiful, and even though we’ve only had it for a week, we’ve already had quite a few compliments on it. We are very pleased with the service we received from Aspen Exteriors.

Not well, there were issues after the job that took nearly a month to resolve. After the corrections were made, they tried to make me feel as if it were my fault even though the problems did not exist prior to their job. I am still not satisfied with the work done and will not recommend them to anyone.

This job took over a year to perform start to finish due to unresponsiveness and changes in employees. The owner Andy does a good job and has been accomodating, but the other staff we have dealt with at this company have been very unresponsive and it didn't seem like they cared to get our business. We kept working with Aspen due to Andy's intervention after we were so frustrated that we didn't get our calls returned by others in the company we were working with. The orginal person who gave us the quote, measurements and was our sales rep took off to Texas to "chase" another storm. We called him a number of times wondering what our next steps were without return phone calls. When we called Aspen letting them know that he wasn't calling us back the only response we got was, "well, he's the only person who can help you...we'll try calling him...." and then days would go by until we'd get a call from him." Then the sales rep sent a crew to our house that didn't have the right ladder with them and they left and had to come back another day. It wasn't until we were ready to walk away from the whole deal and became demanding did we get any response from Aspen. Our next door neighbors were also going to have their roof and siding replaced with Aspen but gave up because of the same issues we encountered with unresponsiveness.

Response from Aspen Exteriors Inc
Here at Aspen Exteriors®, Inc. we take special care in making your home exterior project run as smoothly as possible. Much of our business comes from word of mouth; therefore, a satisfied customer often leads to future business. We feel that it is important for an organization, such as the Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau, to hear from our customers so that we can continue to improve our products and services. Aspen services thousands of customers and currently has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau. The production problems that occurred during this project were due to a lack of communication and performance from a particular individual. This situation has since been resolved internally. We continue to strive to improve our communication and efficiency. Please review our ratings, testimonials, awards, and affiliations at our website. Most of our customers would agree that Aspen Exteriors exceeded there expectations.

This saga started after a hail storm on May 25, 2008. The salesman was informative and not pushy on the day he first appeared but we were unwilling to sign a binding contract at that time. After talking with other repair companies, we reviewed Angie’s list and chose Aspen Exteriors because of the reviews. When the salesman came back with the contract, he assured us that they would be able to get all of the work done by the end of October 2008. He also made sure he told us that their company would do all of the work for the insurance company’s documentation and pricing (this is also part of their contract). If there was any discrepancy, their company would intervene with the insurance company to rectify that. We also utilized this opportunity to separately contract for a replacement window (not storm damage) because part of the frame was rotted and we were also suspicious of rot underneath and for repair of our chimney. They agreed to take on these projects and get bids for us, but also said they would not install the window until the siding was ready to come off. After that, the experience started out badly and we felt a need to start keeping a journal. The salesman came to our house to get the specific information about the shingles we wanted. We emphasized that we wanted the same shingles and even gave him a wrapper from a spare pack. When the shingles arrived they were from a different company and not even the same color. We complained immediately and were not satisfied with the explanation, so we scheduled a meeting with the in-house handler (Steve) to discuss everything that was going to happen and the order in which it would happen. While there, one of the owners (Matt) told us that ordering the shingles we wanted would take longer; plus the brand we wanted was not as good as the brand they typically used. We told him we were adamant about what shingles we wanted as we had spent a lot of time looking for those shingles 4 years ago. Once the correct shingles arrived, work commenced quickly and the job was done very well. The work crew was efficient, quiet, and clean. They were surprised it took longer than they estimated, but we were not. The next job was the garage doors. We requested permission to visit with their supplier and were told that was fine. We went to the supplier and spoke with a salesman, who just happened of have us on his list to visit the next day. We discussed our desires and lamented that we could not get the windows we wanted but were OK with what they had. He said he would be out the next day to take measurements. He arrived on time and told us immediately that he could supply exactly the same door and windows, as he represented that company also. This job was handled very well also. The next job was the window and this went badly. Steve kept telling us that he was waiting for more bids to come in. He stated he had three but wanted more (it was now August 13). He said he would email the bids as soon as he got the others he wanted. On Sept 3 we received an email with one bid for $1307.91, which included labor and materials - and a lame apology. Steve stated that the other bids he had did not even match the requirements for the window we stated we wanted. He offered to get them re-bid, but we refused as this had taken too long already. (He also had stated in a previous conversation that he had not been able to find anyone to give bids on the chimney. We used Angie’s List to find one right away). (From 9/2 to 9/4, we left 3 messages for Matt to call us, as we wanted to complain about how the window job was being handled. He never returned our calls.) On 9/18 we received a call from Sarah stating when the window would arrive. The window was delivered on the expected date, but we also had a message from Sarah that the window was the wrong size (too short) - and they were working with the supplier to find out what went wrong. On October 18 Sarah called to give us an update on the window. The manufacturer was not cooperating regarding the error but did tell her that the new window would be built the first week of Nov. We took this opportunity to inform Sarah that we were also expecting any rot under the window to be fixed during installation. She said she would have the installer visit to discuss this with us. On November 5, Corey called from Aspen to inform us that the siding would be installed on November 20. We told him that we had not heard about the window yet, and that needed to be done before the siding was installed. He said the window was scheduled to be installed on November 19 (first we heard of that). The window was delivered on 11/18 and installed on 11/19. We called Sarah later on that same day and told her that the installers did a wonderful job and did not find any extensive rot, just replaced two 2 x 4’s under the sill plus a couple of sheets of sheathing. Also told her that this window was from a manufacturer other than the one whose bid we had received. She asked “ Is this window a separate item from the insurance claim?”. We told her yes. She stated that the cost would probably be the same or similar to the original bid. She would research it and let us know (this did not happen). And we were billed for $2406.00. We complained and it was corrected. On November 21, we called Steve to find out why our new siding had not been delivered on 11/20 as we were told by Corey. He had to investigate and would call back. He called back and said the supplier told him that the siding was coming from California and would be here around 11/24 or 11/25. We asked him why, when this was on their project board a month ago, this siding was not ordered then. He said that would have been a good question to ask the supplier. We told him to call the supplier back and find out why. He stated he would. We called on 11/24 to find out if the question had been answered (it had not) and were told the siding would be delivered on 12/2. Corey called on 11/26 to let us know that the siding was scheduled to be installed on 12/3. On 12/3, a work crew appeared, but there was no siding for them to install. The foreman called Aspen to find out where the siding was. We and the foreman discussed what work was to be done. The foreman was unaware of all the work that they needed to do and we clarified what was to be done with Steve. The work crew started ripping off the damaged siding that day. During the lunch hour a workman that had been left on-site told us that they had discovered significant rot in one location and pointed it out to us. We called Steve and he said it would have to be repaired before the siding was installed. We told him to have an estimate done for that. On 12/4 Steve told us that the estimate for the rot repair was $550 and we accepted that. He also said the siding supplier has been lying about the delivery date. The siding was finally delivered on 12/5. The siding install was finally finished on 12/23. (There were other problems related to the installation, but the details will not be added here). Between Jan 14, 2009 and March 28, 2009 there were numerous conversations with State Farm Insurance and Aspen regarding amounts due and paid. On February 17, we requested an updated statement from Aspen so we could understand exactly where we stood and how much was still owing on the total project. We did not receive this statement until March 11 and it contained confusing and erroneous amounts. We found we needed to supply the most recent insurance company summary and did so. We then started receiving calls asking for the total balance due, even though all the work had not been completed (painting and gutter replacement). On March 26 we had a conversation with Gerry at Aspen and we requested a statement detailing everything that was completed, everything that was paid, and how much needed to be paid that reflected all the work they had completed. We received this statement on March 28 and paid what was owing on March 30. On May 5, we called Steve to get the painting work process started. Sarah answered and told us that Steve was no longer with the company. She left a message for the painting contractor to call us. He called on May 5 and said he would be out on 5/6. He did not appear. He called on 5/8 but left no message. He came on 5/12 but did not end up giving an estimate. A second painter came on 6/15 and did give an estimate, which the insurance company rejected as too high. A third painter came on 6/29 and he gave an estimate higher than the first. Vicki called us on July 20 and said that State Farm was not budging from their position on cost. She wanted us to assist them in getting State Farm to change their mind. We used Angie’s List to get a highly rated painting firm to give us an estimate (turned out to be even higher than the second bid) and had the person who has painted our entire house twice to give us an opinion - he stated that State Farm was too low on the major portions, as he could not do the job for their pricing. We gave all this information to State Farm and were told no adjustment would be made. We spoke to Vicki about this result on July 28 and that we were going to file a complaint with the state’s insurance commissioner. She said she could email the two bids we need as support and the form the Department of Commerce requires for the complaint. Received all that same night. We also sent an email to Vicki stating that, since this painting job appears to be on our shoulders now, we accept the bid of $4286.65 from the low bidder. On July 31, we had a message on our recorder from Vicki that the people at Aspen had discussed this and decided that they were going to turn the painting job over to us as they could not maintain their 20% profit margin if they handled it. We sent a letter to Aspen stating that they had unilaterally broken their contract because one provision of the contract is “Project to be performed per insurance company and price”. This means they would have to foot the difference between the insurance company allowance and the bid. We also informed Aspen that we would not allow them to handle the gutters either and sent a Paid-in-Full check for the amount still owing on everything they had already finished. We also said we would expect all requested paperwork to be forwarded to us so we received it no later than Aug 14, 2009. This has not happened as of September 5, 2009.
Description of Work: removal and replacement of roof, garage doors, siding, and window.

Most of our customers would agree that Aspen Exteriors exceeded there expectations.

replacement windows

First, Aspen - according to what they told us then, though they say now that it wasn't the case, misplaced our paperwork for approximately a month, so the windows did not get ordered right away. They were not ordered until over a month after we'd signed the contract with Aspen. After scheduling and rescheduling the other work, not showing up when they said they would, not calling to notify us of status and not responding to our phone calls in a timely manner (we'd have to leave multiple messages before getting a call back, if then) the siding, roof valleys, and garage doors were finally completed. The windows, however, are still not done. The first install date we were given was in early September. The day arrived, we'd received no delivery, no calls from Aspen confirming, nothing. We called multiple times that day, only to find out the next day that the measurements of the windows had gotten messed up, and that they would have to be reordered. To me, this is something they should have called to tell us - not waited for us to leave 5 or 6 messages on the day the install was supposed to happen. Our next install date was this past Saturday, October 4. By Friday, we hadn't heard anything, so I called them. We were told that the windows would not arrive from the factory until Monday, October 6. Again, this is something they should have called to tell us, but did not. The windows were delivered today, but they are not the correct windows. The windows we are replacing are picture windows. The windows delivered were double frame windows. We rejected the delivery, because we don't want to be stuck with the wrong windows. We're now forced to wait another 4 - 8 weeks for windows. The weather is getting cooler, and we have two broken windows - not the most energy/cost effective situation. It's been over 4 months since we hired Aspen, and we still have no replacement windows. While we understand that a lot of homes were damaged in storms this summer, many much worse than ours, the lack of communication, accuracy, and professionalism Aspen has showed is absolutely inexcusable. We had hired them previously to replace a roof on our former home with excellent results, so when we had storm damage, we called them first rather than the contractor our builder had used. We are severely disappointed and frustrated.
Description of Work: We hired Aspen to do storm damage repair to our home - two broken windows, damaged siding, trim, etc., garage doors, and roof valleys. The damage was caused the last weekend in May. The cost is our deductible, then insurance coverage.

Work began promptly. They cleaned up thoroughly (a lot of small bits and nails end up in the yard) so there were only a few small items left that I found later. They kept me informed through the day about city inspector, etc. My concern - they provided no toilet facilities for the work crew although they started at 7 a.m. and finished around 4 p.m.
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, drip edge, and flashing. Replaced and added ice and water barrier; added chimney flashing, re-shingled house and garage with architectural shingles. Added 2 vents to house and 2 vents to garage.
