Came out and did a cleaning, but didn't have the part so they had to order it. When they finally came out they did so without contacting me, but just showing up. My grandmother let them in and wrote them a check for $180 more than what they quoted me. What did they do wrong? Didn't return calls, charged more than quoted, didn't work through me and in my mind, took full advantage of an elderly women. They haven't responded to texts or call phone calls. Integrity is missing from their work ethic.
Description of Work: Fireplace needed cleaning and the fan wasn't working.

We purchased a gas fireplace insert for our home. Vierick had a wide variety from which to choose and we found one that we liked very much. Vierick gave us an acceptable price and delivery schedule. That is, however, the last acceptable part of the job. Vierick apparently contracts out the installation. When the young man finished what he advised he was to do, the fire place did not operate because 'he didn't do electrical installation.' In a pinch, I connected the power with an extension cord and the fireplace came to life as expected... almost. The fan sounded like it had a leaf caught in the blower. The was much more evident on the lowest speed where we liked having it. Repeated calls to vierick went unanswered and I finally gave up asking. We have been using the fireplace since the installation with the noise and my makeshift electrical connection. As it happens, there is apparently code that requires an outlet in the fireplace enclosure. This has excited my considerable disappointment (politically correct euphemism for true feelings) with the transaction and as a new member to Angie's list, I thought it would be appropriate to warn potential customers to avoid this supplier 'like the plague.' In the interest of full disclosure, I do not recall with any accuracy either the actual price or date of transaction other than I felt the price was fare and that the transaction has been some time ago.

Initial repair requests resulted in only 2 unsuccessful service calls. Repeated phone calls and messages not returned. Problem identified Winter of 2012 and replacement part ordered, repeated phone calls to schedule repair not rarely (if at all) answered, messages not returned. Ailing client (Mr. of Mr. and Mrs.) actually passed away before seeing a working product. Vierick was aware of illness.
Description of Work: Custom fireplace purchased and installed by Vierick Fireplace Sales, Inc. has never consistently worked.

Terrible experience in every aspect.
Description of Work: I purchased a fireplace from this company with the intent to have it installed shorly after the purchase. I was told I was buying at an excellent time as I purchased the product just prior to Fall and business was still pretty slow. Mr. Viereck said that it would be installed in my home in a few days after purchase. The fireplace was delivered in my garage and sat there for many weeks. My phone calls were often not returned or the company provided an excuse for "why" the fireplace couldn't be installed at the time....someone's tooth got knocked out, someone had to visit a relative in another state...the list went on. After many weeks I finally went to the store and demanded that the fireplace be installed in the next week or else I was coming for a full refund of my money ( I made the mistake of paying for the fireplace in full at time of purchase). My purchase agreement was for the fireplace installation including a gas line to be run. When Mr Viereck finally made arrangements for the installation, he disputed the gas line being included in the purchase agreement. Well, it was in writing so I demanded it of course! This was just the tip of the iceberg with this company....I couldn't believe the unprofessional behavior that they exhibited. I was shocked to see that they were still in business after so many years so decided to include a comment on their business practices here. When people ask me..who should they hire to install a fireplace...I tell them...I can tell you who NOT TO USE....Viereck Fireplaces.

THE ORIGINAL INSTALL WAS IN 2002. WE DISCOVERED THE CAULKING WASN'T COMPLETE A YEAR LATER, AND THEY'VE MADE CONTINUOUS PROMISES TO COME OUT AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. BUT THEY HAVE CONSISTENTLY FAILED TO HONOR THEIR COMMITMENTS. NOW WE CAN'T MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF OUR HOME ASSOCIATION UNTIL THIS WORK IS FINISHED.

AFTER THE DAMAGE WAS DONE BY THEM, THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. VIERECK SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ENTIRE CARPET AT FULL VALUE (NOT DEPRECIATED VALUE). SINCE THEN (09/03), THEY HAVE AVOIDED OUR PHONE CALLS AND ULTIMATELY LIED TO THE BBB ABOUT THE RESOLUTION. VIERECK TOLD THE BBB (OVER THE PHONE) THEIR INSURANCE WAS TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING. WE'VE SPOKEN WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SUPPOSED RESOLUTION. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL ONLY COVER DEPRECIATED VALUE. FROM THE BEGINNING, VIERECK TOLD US HE WOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT COSTS. AT VIERECK'S REQUEST, WE GOT ESTIMATES FROM VIERECK'S CARPET MAN AND TURNED THE ESTIMATE INTO VIERECK. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK, NOR DO THEY OWN UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES. THEY NEVER RETURN CALLS AND HAVE LIED TO EVERYONE INVOLVED.
Description of Work: PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A GAS LOG IN OUR FIREPLACE. THE LOG WAS FAULTY AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. WHILE REPLACING THE LOG INSERT, THE COMPANY BURNED A HOLE IN OUR CARPET. THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE CARPET AT FULL VALUE.
