The project went very smooth. They were very efficient with their time. They were working in both locations as the project proceeded. As the thin-set would need to set, they would go work on the fireplace. As they were working, if there were issues that arose during the process, they took the time to inform us & go over the situation. Together we made the decision of what would be the best option. They took the necessary time to do the job right. Their work looks absolutely fabulous!!!! I would recommend them to all my family & friends~

Jim poured the floor in two stages. After the first one, we expressed concerns about the quality of the work, and he said that he would be extra careful with the second pour; unfortunately, it was even worse than the 1st. There was a pronounced slope at one end, the surface was rough and pitted, and there was a series of ridges in the middle. We asked Dave to come over, assuming that he would work with us to rectify the situation. He said, however, that it looked good to him. Jim did acknowledge problems, and offered to grind it down for us, a process with which he had no experience. In our attempts to resolve this issue, we initially offered to settle for the return of $2000.00 of the $5000.00 deposit we had paid, enough to cover most of the cost of leveling the floor which could be neither carpeted nor tiled as was. They refused. We next went through the BBB, but the Schlagels did not respond to the offer of mediation. We then went to conciliation court where the judgment was for us; partly due to the building inspector saying that the work was unacceptable (He had used the term "atrocious workmanship" in talking to us). They neither paid us nor filed an appeal of the decision. In order to have the judgment enforced, we had to go to District Court to start the process of attaching their assets. After 15 months, Jim Schlagel finally paid, but not until the sheriff served Dave Schlagel with a "Show Cause" order, threatening him with contempt of court.
