I called twice, about a week and a half apart, in the middle of the day. I had to leave a message both times. The message contained a brief description of the job. I never got a call back.

Laura and Tony were wonderful to work with from the very beginning and all the way through the process. They took time to really figure out what we like and what kind of style we were looking for. They were also willing to revise, based on our budget. The plan was detailed, and we were very happy with the result. We wanted to make a master plan for the whole yard, but do it in stages over several years, and they helped us figure out where to start and break it down into manageable parts. The stone work was done beautifully and the whole job was done quickly. I would absolutely recommend them!!

Let me say this first. If you just want a guy and a shovel to come over and toss in some pavers he picked up from one of the bigbox stores, I don't think this is the company you are looking for. Could they? You bet and I have no doubt you would love the results but you would be missing out on so much. When I first decided I was going to redo my lawn, I got quotes from a lot of people and a lot of companies. I can say, that as soon as I met the husband and wife team from ALD, I knew they would be doing my yard. They were friendly and professional and knew their stuff. I had some ideas about what I wanted and let them know, but I also knew that I didn't know squat about landscaping/hardscaping design. I wanted someone to design me a place that would work for me but also wanted it to look like someone who knows artful design had created it. Several of the other companies just kind of whipped up something quick, while they where there, that had all the appeal of a lump of coal. Yes it is useful and it would have worked, but it didn't look like something you'd see in a magazine. That is what I wanted and that is what I got. They then came back to me with a plan that blew me away. I loved their plan so much that I had them expand it and it went from just a backyard job to a front job as well. When the work started, they didn't waste time. It wasn't a few days this week and few the next week. They had a full team here, M-F till it was done. When things came up as they always do, solutions were found without too much fuss. I was also able to add things here and there with just an email or a call. The quality of the work is just amazing. A plan is one thing, but if they can't deliver on what they designed, it wouldn't matter. The materials and how they were installed was flawless. I have no doubt that I will never have an issue with anything they did. I didn't put the price of what I paid up top because I don't really like people knowing my business, but lets just say it was tens of thousands of dollars. I spent a lot but got every pennies worth and then some. If you are looking to have something really special done and want it done right, stop looking at other reviews and just call ALD. You have found your team. Finally, I thought I needed to at least try to find some critiques and it is really had to think of any but just so this doesn't sound like they are paying me to do this, I can say I found one but it isn't really their fault. I had asked about replacing my garage. Yes I know, who would ask a landscaping company to do that, but I did. They did find someone who does things like they from them when people ask, but his quote was pretty expensive. That is it. That is all I could think of that might be a negative. You will love the work.

This job was Phase I of a multiple phase approach to re-landscaping both the front and back yards of the home. Phase I involved the hardscape portion of the front yard, and from start to finish the job was absolutely fantastic! From the very first meeting with Tony and Laura, right on through to completion of this first phase, they were the most conscientious and professional team I have ever worked with on a home improvement project, inside or out. They met me for an initial consultation, explaining step by step how the process would work, including the initial drawing and plans, plus giving me the option to either big bang the whole project, or break it up into phases over two or more seasons (which we ultimately have chosen), in order to accommodate any funding plan I wanted to take in getting it all done. The plan that Laura delivered a week or so after that initial meeting was amazing. The level of detail, the creative use of existing features on the property, the blending of colors between plants, shrubs, flowers and the associated hardscaping, all came together in a beautifully creative design. She is really a creative genius, and I was truly impressed. , On to execution of Phase I, which including removing the front stoop and sidewalk, and also removing the shrubbery in front of the house, and then rebuilding the stoop and sidewalk using pavers, and finally prepping the shrubbery area with mulch to get ready for Phase II in the spring. Here is the amazing part of Phase I. About half way through the job, with all of the removal completed and the new front stoop about half built, I returned home from work on a pretty rainy day to discover a small amount of water coming into the basement. This was not a new problem, and was not at all caused by the work that had been done by ALD's crew. However removal of the old stoop did reveal the root cause of the problem. There was a crack at the base of the concrete foundation behind that old stoop, and over time a small section of concrete had actually chipped away and become a perfect opening for water to enter the basement. I met the crew foreman the next morning before leaving for work, showed him the situation and told him I really wanted that fixed. He didn't hesitate for a second!! He explained that they would remove what they had built so far, repair the damaged foundation, and start over. The repair work included expanding the damaged area by removing ALL suspect concrete, filling it back in with a series of layers of mud and thick layers of rubber membrane material, then sealing all of that silicone sealant once before the stoop was built into place, and again around the entire stoop after it was built. Luckily, after completing all of that work of removing new construction, repairing the damaged foundation, and rebuilding the new construction a second time, it rained hard again the next day. Not a drop of water came into the basement that night. And for all of that work, the foreman said he would have to add to the bill...... $75.00 !!!! It was easily a half day of extra work for a 3 or 4 man crew, and probably should have cost an extra $400 or $500. Needless to say, it was clearly a gesture from ALD of appreciating my business and being genuinely interested in helping me cure a problem, not just hide it. It absolutely confirmed everything positive I had felt about dealing with Tony and Laura up to that point. The final work was completed on Halloween day, just in time for the kids to come and get lots of candy. I tried to include before and after pictures with this review, but was unable to do that. I will gladly share them if anyone is interested in seeing them. The compliments from the neighbors who brought their kids by that night for Halloween were non-stop. I highly, highly recommend Architectural Landscape Design for any of your outdoor landscaping jobs, large or small. I can tell you with all sincerity that for me, they have a customer for life.

Tony and Laura explained the process and the timing. The crew that came to our home was fantastic and very polite. They respected our privacy and followed the schedule, Jeremy, the crew foreman kept us informed along the way. We would definitely recommend Architectural Landscape Design to our neighbors.

I was hestiant about what I wanted to do...how I wanted to do it...what it would look like...how much would it cost us...but after meeting with Tony and Laura my fears soon disappeared, they were so nice, so professional and really listened to what we were thinking and the budget that we needed to work within. The designs they presented us with were awesome. My everyday lighting along with the upcoming seasonal lighting is everything I wanted and more, the design was great and they were very easy to work with for modifications and our ideas...ha ha but after looking and some discussion we decided they were the experts...and we were right..they had the best ideas. The crew that came on site were great, very nice gentlemen that I would definitely recommend to my neighbors, the foreman, a gentleman named Jeremy, told us that our privacy would be respected and he was true to his word, and kept us informed of the schedule that we could expect. We were very happy with the entire experience = A+.

I found Laura and Tony to be very honest - we are on a hill and our firepit had to be built on a slope, they did a great design. We were very confident in their expertise...and the results were outstanding. We will definitely have them back next year for a design for an outdoor kitchen. We will do improvements in phases.

My husband and I have zero gardening knowledge and were looking for someone to give us advice on what should be planted where and provide a vision for our landscaping. Laura and Tony listened to our needs and provided us with a detailed visual plan of what our yard could look like along with a proposal based on our higher priority items. We were out of town during the entire project. Laura sent us photos and communicated with us daily to keep us informed on the progress. Once the project was completed Laura made sure that the plants stayed watered until we were able to make it back home a few weeks later. The work that was completed by ALD really transformed the way our house looks. We have way more curb appeal now and it will only improve as our new plantings mature. I feel so much joy when drive up to the house now and actually enjoy being in the yard. We are so happy that we picked ALD for this project. We continue to have a professional relationship with ALD as they offer many different landscaping services. Laura is putting together a holiday planter for us which I'm really excited about. We will continue to use them for our landscaping needs. Laura and Tony are great to work with. They are very professional, responsive, and provide quality work. We highly recommend them.

My husband and I had interviewed different landscaping companies and we were disappointed in our search until we discovered Architectural Landscape Design, Inc. When I looked at their website I was immediately attracted by the range of services they offered.But what really caught my eye was their design aesthetic and the beautiful, captivating and natural landscaping and gardens. My husband and I were both very impressed upon our first meeting with the owners Laura and Tony. We liked the fact that this was a family owned business and it was obvious how much care they put into every aspect of their business. They offered a wide range of professional services, had a great team in place and their credentials and references were quite impressive. We were thrilled with our design plan that encompassed the landscaping we did for the lakeside of our home as well as their design for the overall property to be completed in the future. It was wonderful to have a master plan put together. My husband and I had a few design modifications and Laura was more than willing to take the time to make those revisions for us. Laura really listened to my likes, my concerns and kept strictly to our budget! Something several other companies that I had interviewed had difficulty doing.Architectural Landscape Design demonstrated an honest sense of pride in their work and the customer service was exceptional! Their team of workers were extremely professional and beyond that, showed a personal interest in doing our job right.I have never seen a job site so well attended to and the clean up was perfection. The follow up with us made our entire experience a win from start to finish.I would and have highly recommend Architectural Landscape Design, Inc. to anyone considering having landscaping done at the home, who is looking for a truly creative and professional job to be done!Architectural Landscape Design, Inc. is an A+ in our book and we can't wait for phase 2!

The design work was beautiful. We didn't provide all that much input except for a general idea of what we wanted and our style. Laura and Tony really did all the heavy lifting interpreting those vague instructions into a truly lovely design that worked with our house. I can only imagine it's challenging to provide a solution to customers without well-defined requirements, but this was exceptional. They were also impressively transparent in quoting the costs of the components of the project. The build-out went as smoothly as any project I've ever seen. The guys in the crew were the most professional and considerate guys you could ever want working at your house. And Nick & his team did tremendous work. The entire job only took several days. The construction was as minor a disruption at the house as we could have imagined. We will certainly be working with them on future projects. They are responsive, professional and really delivered terrific results.

I used ALD for the landscraping portion of an inground pool installation this summer after being referred to them by a pool builder. The pool installation itself (done by a separate pool contractor) is an ongoing saga of miscues, missed deadlines, mistakes & frustrations. ALD, however, was a bright spot in the process and they did a great job all along the way. ALD does quality work, completes it on time, without surprises and on budget. Some things I think are important in my experience and to consider: - They do good quality work. More than that, from ALD I got both great work and a good price. We all want the most for our money and I believe quality and value are hard to come by. ALD delivered both. I feel confident whether you have a $5,000 project or a $500,000 project, you'll get a good end product and your $1 well spent. - They are flexible. When the initial plan they presented my was beyond my budget, rather than simple cut corners or "dumb down" the whole project, Laura put together a staged plan that worked. I will be back for the other stages in the future. In addition to that, when the pool contractor placed the pool 10' in the wrong direction, it threw the whole landscaping plan out the window. But within several hours of discovering the mistake, Laura and one of her foreman, Nick, were able to create a revised plan, together with me on the ground at my house, for which we could move forward without busting the budget. - They are responsive and communicative. Communication is my pet peeve and an aspect of business where many contractors (landscapers or otherwise) fail miserably. ALD was always available to answer questions and they communicated very clearly along the way. The phone was answered and emails responded to. - Lastly, I can't say enough good things about the crew (Nick) that worked on my project. I quickly found there were people I could trust to be at my house unattended, they don't doodle around and they work really, really hard. Really hard, they show up to work. Even in supressive heat. They were polite. Cleaned-up after themselves. The did a good job.

It was two months of phone tag to get them out this Spring. After 3-4 days, they said they weren’t able to complete the work I requested and referred me to some company they found online. I did like the gentlemen I spoke with and originally planned to go with them.

We had a wonderful customer experience working with Laura and her team. We wanted to make sure we found the right partner, and so we met with several firms and paid for several Designs. It was clear that ALD was the right firm for us. From the consultation to the design, through to the finished product, eveyone we worked with was customer focused, professional, respectful, AND just great people to connect and interact with. Laura provided us with a 'menu' of choices so we could select what worked with our budget. And I really appreciated that when we tried to suggest an alternative design idea, she gave us her honest professional opinion, rather than agreeing to it when it was not the right choice. It became clear that Laura really listened to us and understood our vision (which we were not very good at articulating), when we saw the plan. Then the crew came to complete the work. They always called to let us know they were coming, or if they couldn't come due to weather. They worked hard, cleaned everything up each day, and completed the project in fewer days than estimated. The end result is so beautiful. It transformed our front yard. We could not be happier.

I've had a major grading issue on the one side of my house ever since I moved into it 6 years ago. Why it took me so long to have it fixed is another story all together in itself. Anyways, I finally had several different companies come out and take a look at my situation. I wasn't comfortable with any of the feedback I received or the way each one approached the whole project. They almost sounded unsure of themselves and what the solution was for me. That is until I had Tony from A.L.D. come out an take a look. He was on time and polite. He was also very informative and knowledgable about my yard and it's problems. I almost didn't even care how much it was gonna cost me at this point. I was just relieved that I found someone who knew what they were talking about and some very good ideas as not only how to fix the grading issue but how to dress it in the end too. When Tony came out we went over a lot of stuff. And after he left I forgot a few things, but the one mistake I did make was having Tony come over with my wife not being there with us! I ended up calling Tony back again to see if he would come out a 2nd time and answer all the questions my wife had since I didn't do a good job of relaying it to her. Tony was more than happy to and even had his business partner/wife come with to offer even more ideas and options on stuff. I was pretty impressed by this alone and no work was even done yet. They showed up on a wednesday morning and were done by the next day in the afternoon. Tony's guys worked hard and didn't seem to mind me snooping around watching them and asking the occasional question about what they were doing or just talking in general about whatever. When they had questions, they would come and get me before proceeding with the work which I truly appreciated. Tony himself came out the day they arrived and showed up again the next afternoon to check up on things. If I had one issue to bring up it would be with where the dirt was laid by my house. The way my house was placed and the surrounding landscape didn't allow for a whole lot of room in regards to slopping the grade a great deal. They did an awesome job with what they had to work with. But, the dirt went up to and was touching the siding of my house which happens to be Cedar. I noticed this and asked if that would eventually rot the cedar siding and the gentleman was honest and said yes but not for a while and he also pointed out again that the area was very poor in which they had to work with. I understood but called Tony anyways and told him about it. He said that indeed was not what he wanted to see and would call his guy to address it. They ended up putting plastic between the dirt and the siding as to not have them touching... which I was thankful for. If I had not noticed that though and never brought it up, I believe it would've been left that way which I don't agree with. But Tony was great, he listened to my concern and it was fixed right away. I couldn't of asked for more.

ALD returned this year to finish the second half of our project. Our entire property is complete and it looks fantastic! We LOVE our lighting and address boulder. It was great working with ALD and we will continue to use them down the road and always recommend them to everyone.

Very well - all work was completed in 2+ days.....the workers were quick and considerate of not using the grassy area between our house and our neighbors for the bobcat. The final product is excellent and we are looking forward to the next phase when more older plant are replaced.....Laura created a beautiful overall design that can be completed in stages which fits our budget.

They have a done a good job staying in communication. They have presented a very nice color layout of the initial proposed project. We went over the proposal and I have submitted some changes to the initial plans. The most important part of this experience has been with the communication with the designer. They are doing a good job of attempting to understand my visions for the design and incorporating that into the plan. I will provide further comments as the project progresses and once the physical work begins.

The consultation went well and they were very informative.

I would hire these guys 6 times over if I had to ever do this again. We did a major renovation of our landscape/hardscape and backyard seating areas. Given the scope of the project and the complexity of how our house is situated it was important that we picked an excellent company with good follow through. More importantly we wanted a team that we would enjoy working with and an on-site crew we could trust. Laura and Tony listened to all the things we wanted to accomplish, worked out an amazing design and gave us options that aligned with our budget concerns. As we got into the project the crew and site managers they assigned were exceptional: incredibly competent, really hardworking and, as a reflection of Laura and Tony, highly professional and attentive to the tiniest details. One of their guys wielded this gigantic paver saw like a paintbrush and literally hand carved our front walkway. In the backyard I wanted a certain slope and level to the yard and after talking through it for a bit the guy (Erik) gets into the bobcat and literally re-sloped my entire backyard in like 7 minutes (while avoiding sprinkler flags) exactly like I wanted. I couldn?t believe it. Throughout Laura and Tony quality assured, were engaged with and were very responsive to both my wife and I in addition to their crew. What you won?t see on this board is other professional appraisals of ALD. If you are reading this you should know that we hired for other specialist work and asked their opinion of ALD (knowing they work with other companies as well). They all without exception stated that Laura and Tony do some of the best work out there. Those opinions in addition to the work they did and the continual follow-up left me completely satisfied with our decision, our beautiful new yard and the experience throughout. Sometimes you don?t know if you hired the right crew until the middle, end and follow-up on a project and these guys are the real deal. Thank you Laura, Tony and the crew!!!

It took them a long time to do it much past their promised date, that was a bit of a problem. We told them how much we wanted to spend and how long on an average over five years. They came back with a wonderful presentation and a beautiful design, but we had to pay everything upfront. So we didn?t use them. Basically it was a waste of time and money. They do nice a work, but they don?t run their business very well. They didn?t listen to us in terms of staying within our budget. They responded initially very quickly, but they were very late to get back to us after that even after they took our deposit.

They have continued to operate in a high standard. I am satisfied with their work. It's an excellent, excellent company. They clean up after themselves.

We couldn't be happier with our choice of ALD. I began my search for a landscape designer online and found their website. It impressed me so much that I called and talked with Laura, one of the owners, about our needs. We set up an appointment and met the following week. Laura and Tony, both owners, came out and spent lots of time with us. I knew during the meeting they were the perfect fit for us. I did feel weird at first that they weren't on Angie's List, but went with my gut feeling. We signed on that night for design plans only. Two weeks later we were presented beautiful plans of our property. Laura really listened to what we wanted and came up with a great design. We then made a deposit to move forward. We did decide to break the project down in two parts. We did the backyard and West side of the house this year. We will then complete the front yard and East side of house in 2011. We can't wait!!! The quality of their work is wonderful! All the workers were great! And we are using them again!

I can’t say enough about how incredible Laura (ALD) is! After interviewing a few landscaping companies and working with a couple in the past, I consulted with Laura about adding some trees as well as blocks of limestone to my backyard. She provided me a number of recommendations for the project and helped me envision a plan within my budget. I know Laura has completed many larger projects than this one, so I was interested to see how much attention would be given to mine. Laura and her team arrived right on time, planted 3 Medora Junipers and placed several large blocks of limestone in our yard (with no damage to our lawn). Everything went smooth, was done professionally and looks great in our yard - well above what I had expected. Laura provided me a number of additional suggestions I could do myself (to save a bit on costs) as well as a vision for future expansion of our landscaping, which I look forward to working with them on in the future. What struck me most about Laura, besides her professionalism and unique vision, were the little things she did that I would not have expected nor have experienced with past landscaping companies. When we discussed the project initially, I had some apprehension about the trees that she suggested as I had something different in mind. About a week prior to starting the project, Laura emailed me pictures of the actual trees she planned to plant and asked if they were what I had intended. I later learned the trees were dug out fresh from the ground (not from a bucket) on the actual day of planting. They look beautiful! If you're looking for a professional with a personal touch, that has great insight and vision, Laura is it!

Ably led by hands on owner Laura Westrude, the outcome has been exceptional. This group of professionals have been totally involved in the projects and a joy to work with. They possess the vision to conceptualize the work and the knowledge and resources to implement it. Brilliant design, quality materials, and superior plant and tree specimens were provided. Their heavy equipment was deftly utilized in tight spaces over undergroung irrigation. Lawn restoration was well done. Neighborhood traffic disruption was minimized and site cleanliness was excellent.
