Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I am extremely upset with the service I received from Roto-Rooter. First of all, my husband and I paid $435.50 for a procedure that did not work: the next morning (Sunday) the drain had backed up again. Secondly, our serviceman was quite rude and difficult to work with. He came into our basement from our back yard door and looked at the standing water in the basement and said that a pipe has shifted or busted somewhere along the line, probably under our front yard. At one point when he had started to put the snake down the pipe, he asked us how much we had paid for our home, and when we didn't answer him he said that we "must have gotten a good deal." Beyond being an incredibly rude and inappropriate question, he was making an assumption about our home having only seen or dealt with the basement and floor drain. He had my husband help him bring his machine down in to the basement and help him throughout, but was often short with my husband (for example, my husband went to help him pick the machine up to take back up the stairs after he had asked for my husband's help, and he snapped, "Hang on! I am not ready yet" in a rude tone...) When we discovered that the drain had backed up again this morning, I contacted a different drain cleaning service and was told that the problem is most likely a sewer back-up, and that the Roto-Rooter procedure probably just poked a small hole through the clog instead of actually removing the clog completely. The cost for having a different plumber come to our home on a Sunday to fix a sewer back-up is less than half of what we were charged by Roto-Rooter. I will be contacting Roto Rooter as soon as they are open tomorrow to discuss this situation, and I will not be using them again.

The person who came could not find the blockage but instead suggested to replace the main sewer line. He gave an estimate to do it and it was very high. He was responsive and punctual. My plumber told to check with someone else and the other company cleaned the line instead of replacing it.

It was a good experience. They were responsive, easy to schedule and good about deducting the sewer line cleaning that we had done just a few days before we had the big project performed. I trust that the work will hold, we certainly haven't had any problems so far. This fix should hold for many years. They also clean up well after their work.

My brother-in-law's friend did the work. The estimate was okay but my mom thought they were a little high on the price. However, we had multiple estimates and they were in the same ball park. She decided to go with my brother-in-law's friend. I don't remember their quote. I didn't follow up because we didn't end up using them. Their price was fair and in line with everybody else. They were right on. They knew what was wrong and what needed to be done. They were quite late for the appointment. They were able to come out the following day from when we called them. I might use them in the future if I needed the service.

They did a fine job. Everything is working fine now. They were neat and were done quickly.

Everything went well both times, we were very pleased. They went out of their way to explain things to us and gave us helpful hints.

I've used them before and they are prompt. They do an estimate and have you sign before any work is done, so you know what you're up against.

They were very fast to get here, because my sink was overflowing at the time. They did a great job and I haven't had any issues with it since.

The drain works and the price is ok. They are good for emergency situations.

They gave me an honest opinion about where the leak was coming from. They showed me why they didn?t think it was a plumbing leak. Their suggestion was that the next step would be to find a building contractor who would be willing to take the shower apart to determine why the water is leaking.

I was marvelously impressed at how well everything went. They showed up when they said they said they were going to and price-wise were actually more affordable than some of the other ones. They have really good warranties on their products too.

He took about one and a half hours to do the job, but he billed us for 2 hours. He took 20 minutes to write the bill. The sink was right over the water heater, and he knocked the water heater. My brother checked it and found it to be damaged. He offered to come back and work on the water heater.

This company did a very good job with our project. They were much more reasonably priced than a plumber would have been to come that day. After the work was done they cleaned up after themselves and I was thrilled with them.

They showed up on time and completed the work in under 30 minutes. Everything working as it should after the repairs.

After Kirk arrived he confirmed it was something in the main drain but when he pulled the cap off the clean-out the line began to flow freely. He showed me how the old cap that had been installed was partially blocking the line and actually still had some toilet paper caught up on it. He installed a new cap and everything is working fine now. Price quoted for a main drain clean was $248. The price for the cap install was $152. While the $152 final price was reasonable, (especially for a Saturday), the $248 was twice what other places have charged me. Kirk was very friendly, professional and quick getting here.

They were very personable, helpful, and did their job professionally. Overall I'd say they were about average.

I called for a backed up main sewer pipe due to roots growing in old clay pipes. They came out and charged $250 for the first 2.5 hours and $125/hour after...I thought that was very expensive. I did not feel confident that the guy knew what he was talking about and did not make a lot of sense in his explanations of things. He was also supposed to provide an estimate for any other projects and provided a ridiculous estimate for another project and gave me a bunch of lines about how my plumbing wasn't up to code - did not instill confidence. I asked him to leave before finishing the job and he left me with some clogs in the basement drain. I asked another guy to come out and re-diagnose and he was super rude. after plunging the drain he simply walked out without so much as a goodbye.

You never want to use them for sewer excavation. They said they could fix our sewer, since we had to install one in between the house and the street. They initially claimed they could do it from the inside, but then they later said they could only do it from the outside. So they dug up the whole lawn and left huge piles of dirt. It took them a week to move the dirt, and when they did, it looked like a dump heap. I had to hire a landscaper. I would not hire them again for anything. They also did not have a very courteous crew. The word surly comes to mind. Our neighbors used another company for similar work. Their work was completed in one day and was cleaned up in the same day. It took Roto-Rooter a week to do the work and they never piled in the hole- they didn't include that in the service. Our neighbors' yard looked the same as the morning the other company started. So it's possible to do it in a day, but Roto-Rooter didn't bother. They had a lower estimate than other companies, but it certainly was not worth it. It seemed like a fair price, except when placed in the context of the service they delivered and what I had to do to get the front lawn straightened out again. Considering that, I would say it was grossly overpriced.

They were able to come out right away and were easy to get a hold of. They addressed the problem right away, which has been solved. The workers were nice and clean and stuck to the task. They did what I expected and that is what matters.

Everything went very well. They responded very quickly, and I was happy with their work.
