Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I was delayed twice by another provider, and was fed up taking time off work only to be told they couldn't make it. I called Roto-Rooter, and they were able to come the same day. They gave me a window of time, called a half hour before arriving, and were very professional, from the receptionist, to the scheduler to the gentleman that performed the service of cleaning the drain. He explained everything he was going to do and what he may find, and what could happen. When he was done, he explained what he found. The process went smoothly, and I am happy with the service.

Josh came to our house the very next day after we called and unclogged our drains within the hour. When he arrived we were unable to use our bathroom and when he left ,everything worked perfectly! He was prompt, helpful, courteous and fast.

I just reviewed Roto Rooter's excellent service but wanted to add the name and number of our service person, Josh, whose number was $4348. I could not find a way to edit my previous review so am reposting it here. Josh came promptly and fixed our drain and plumbing issues, due to tree roots, within an hour. He was prompt, courteous, professional and fast. We truly appreciate his work and assistance.

Work was performed efficiently and skillfully. Notified half an hour before arrival as I had been told. No complaints, and the provider Brian#936 was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Only negative comment is price seemed a bit high.

Brian #936 did an amazing job of cleaning out our main line from the house to the street. HOLY TREE ROOTS BATMAN! He also cleaned out the drain to the main line. It was not an easy job. He was very professional. Explained things very well. Appreciated him being honest with me. Call Brian, he is the man!

It went great. They came after hours and got the clog open for us. Even though it was 10:30 at night he was very pleasant and knew what he was doing.

Another provider canceled at the last minute on a Friday afternoon, so I called Roto-Rooter as they are open evenings and weekends and do not charge extra for emergency calls. Another great thing is that they give Angie's List members priority. Jesse arrived an hour after my call, fixed the problem, and cleaned up after. He talked me through the whole process, was attentive to details, and was professional and courteous throughout the job. I will definitely call them for any future work and would highly recommend. The only off thing is that the coupon on the company's website is higher than their Angie's list coupon. They gladly accepted the higher coupon though.

Brian #936 arrived to my home promptly. he provided the service efficiently and was very knowledgeable about products. I felt comfortable with him in my home.

Josh #4348, showed up on time, even early, explained my issue. (Tub drain was clogged). He then fixed the problem, offered further solutions, and went on his way. I was a little worried what my tub would look like, cleaning products ready on kitchen table for when he was done, but there was no need, it looked as it did before he showed up. I had a great experience!

OK except for the price! Hefty charge considering I had a $50 off coupon. I found it strange that a slow draining sink next to the toilet, does not drain at all now!

The service went very well. They did a really nice job. We have them a lot.They seem pretty reasonable. We often have a coupon. They'll send us because we've used it regularly;about every six months. We have a really old house. They do maintenance for us just keeping that line clear. They are right here right away.

I got service on a holiday, which helps with swallowing the price that was higher than expected. Thankfully I had a $40 coupon. They had someone here within 2+ hours, he got the job done, was courteous, professional, ..., but when I asked about running the water in the kitchen sink, he gave me a look that made me feel stupid and said it wasn't necessary since the drain was fine and it hadn't backed up. I remembered having a really good experience with Ken Betz of Clog B Gone several years ago and kicked myself for not having called there first. I'd seen Roto-Rooter's "no extra charge for weekends and holidays" and figured they'd be more likely to have someone available. As I said, he got it done, they just won't be my first call next time.

I purchased the voucher for Roto Rooter services in January to use at a later date. At that time, my Angie's List account showed the voucher which I purchased. After conversing back and forth over the past 6 months until I was able to identify the service I intended to use the voucher on. Several days ago, I referred to the last email with Roto Rooter via the Angie's List portal and requested a service date. It was my intention to print the voucher on the day of the service. Unfortunately, when I logged into my account my purchase history was gone and there was a note referring me to contact Angie's List. I called the number and a recorded message indicated the entirety of the staff was out of the office all day for a companywide event. I called the 800 number listed in Roto Rooter's message. I spoke to, I believe her name was, Regina. I tried to explain the situation fully to her but she had ideas of her own about how our conversation should go and so my agenda was negated from the outset of the conversation. Regina explained to me that all of the people I have been dealing with are with Angie's List and she does not work for Angie's List. Roto Rooter claimed their records indicate their first contact with me was today. She went on to tell me that she was trying to help me and I needed to listen to what she had to offer me in the way of help. Her "help" was to offer me the ability to purchase a $40 voucher from the Roto Rooter which was proximate or better than any of the vouchers which are offered by Angie's List. It is at this point that I am able to convey to your CSR the voucher which I purchased in January was for approximately $149 and that I have in fact been communicating with individuals from Roto Rooter itself per the parenthetical indication after your electronic signature and after the electronic signature of KC Cooke on the message of January 6th. It is at this point she informs me that she will have to contact another office and asks me to hold. I do. When the holding is done she explains to me that the office to which you belong is closed and there is no one available to help me. She tells me that she will contact an offsite manager and have them call me to attempt to resolve the matter. She further asks if the tech is available for her to speak to, I call him to the phone and they have a conversation where he informs her that he has spoken to his manager, Todd Cousin, about the matter and he has advised him to tell me to pay the $150 for the service and if I am able to demonstrate that I have a valid voucher you will refund the additional amount paid today. Artie explains this to me and asks if I agree. I tell him that I would like to speak with his manager first. I am not refusing to pay but I would like to attempt to find out if this can be resolved in another manner (for reasons I will clarify in my summation of this situation). Artie calls Todd on his cell phone and puts him on speaker phone. My first utterance following my introduction and salutation to him is regarding my purchase in January of the voucher and your initial contact by message using the Angie's List portal with me which was initiated by Roto Rooter and, Cindy and CK Cooke, in specific and the reason they did so. Todd did nothing to conceal his incredulousness at my assertion. Further, he disputed that it is your procedure to contact customers and questioned why I would purchase a service that long ago and not use it. He additionally explained that customers only purchase a service when they need it and then they use it right away. I attempted to explain to him, as I explained to you in the emails, why I would do such a thing. He was unmoved and, quite frankly, I doubt that he was actually listening as I explained it. After significant back and forth he asked if any of the messages gave an address or phone number, I said there was a phone number. He asked that Artie text him the phone number. Artie looked at the message on my computer and sent a text to Todd. The next conversation with Todd was him advising me that he did know who I had been talking to but it was not Roto Rooter. He claimed he called the phone number and it was to the Marriott Hotel. I told him that was not possible because I called that number 5 minutes before my first contact with him and spoke to a representative from Roto Rooter. He was again overtly incredulous. He went on to insist that Artie had performed the service and he demanded immediate payment of $150. I made several additional attempts to provide more information to see if there were any way to avoid this but, apparently, nothing that I was saying was worth engaging in reasonable dialogue or negotiation. He concluded the conversation with his demand for immediate payment. I wrote a check for $150 and gave it to Artie. I explained to Artie that I understand in the course of doing business you encounter people who are trying to get services without payment. However, I went on to assure Artie that I understood he was in a difficult position and that I had absolutely no issue with anything he did or said to me. Further, I was pleased with his service and understood that he was in a "jackpot" between the customer and his employer. But I did ask Artie to consider my story hypothetically and understand my situation. I told him that it was important to me that he be able to represent my claim accurately as I have experienced it in the office because I need it to be clear why; when the facts become evident, I will be expecting more than just my money back. I will be at the very least, expecting at the fait accompli that I was, in fact, telling the complete truth and I was spoken to like a lying thief and it was not only unnecessary and inappropriate it was insistently rude and degrading. Therefore, I will insist upon clear expression of regret and apology. Of course, he was uncomfortable with my statement but he said he understood what I wanted and would do so. Artie took my check for $150 and left. Shortly after he left, Todd called again and much of the same territory was rehashed in a similar manner and incredibly his incredulity increased. After he assured me the phone number I gave Artie was to the Marriott many times he finally heard me say that I never gave Artie the phone number he read it off of the message himself and typed it into his cell phone. It turns out Artie made a mistake with the ninth number in the series. Todd apologized for the matter with the phone number but persisted on all other points. I told Todd that we had nothing else to discuss as I was not going to be able to "prove" anything to his satisfaction until the next business day. He persisted. The snark, the incredulity, the challenge of my integrity increased with each passing moment. Again, I said we had nothing further to gain by continuing until the next business day. It was at this time, Todd again demanded immediate payment. I informed Todd that his man received payment from me some time ago and had left the premises; we had nothing further to discuss. I bid him "goodbye" and disconnected the call. I recently purchased my home which was built in 1920. I knew it would require several types of service and in December of 2015 and January of 2016 I purchased several services that I knew I would need later in the year once I went over its needs with a general contractor. I closed on the house in the third week of May. I didn't feel it was prudent to affect repairs to a property I did not own. Further, I was a civil servant until I was injured 4 years ago and I have not worked since that injury. I must be extremely judicious with my funds. While I did have the funds available to pay for the services rendered they were intended to pay for prescriptions which I required later that evening. I had to forego that purchase at a high personal cost to defend my honor which had no business being in jeopardy in the first place. And the manager the CSR Regina assured me would call me shortly, never called. This is an accurate and detailed description of my transaction with Roto Rooter. I don't think it is necessary to state my specific feelings regarding the issue at this point.

I was scheduled to be serviced between 3pm and 7pm. I took off work to be at home. They did not show or call. When I called them at 7pm they said it would be another 1 to 1-1/2 hours. When I called after 2 1/2 more hours they denied what they said at 7pm. At 9:30 pm they said another 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I told them that was unacceptable. I requested the first appointment the next day. They would not give me a time when that would be. They said I would have to wait between 8 and 10 am. I said I would take the 8:00 appointment. They said it would be later than 8am but they wouldn't tell me when. They have no regard or respect for your time. There are other reputable drain cleaning companies. I chose to do business with someone else.

Terrell Crawford (#4302) was punctual and professional. He was quick and would definitely hire Roto-Rooter again.

Great, called in the morning to schedule service. Was told a time slot of 11am-3pm for arrival. Unfortunately they were a bit backed up and our service tech Josh #4348 didn't arrive until around 3:30 p.m. but he totally made up for it with how quick he was. Total time from in the door to clog removal and receipt in my hand was 22 minutes. I wouldn't even think about using anyone else. Also the price came out to $249 with my coupon so it was the cheapest rate I could find on top of it all.

Jeff, tech #2205, was very helpful in his visit today. We had a pipe that was having issues some of the time and he did an incredible job talking through all of the scenarios of what was causing our issue. After snaking our drain and getting it all taken care of, he even offered more knowledge on how we can make sure we don't have issues like this in the future. Highly recommend Roto-Rooter and Jeff. Thanks for your help and would call again for any future needs.

Their technician, Brian #936 was very prompt and responsive. We were anticipating that we would have to snake the whole house. He recommended that we snake the toilet first. We found the blocking culprit that had been put in the toilet by our grandsons. Brian saved us time and money with his recomendations. We would highly recommend Rotorooter, and, in particular, Brian #936, for his help. He also established us on a maintenance regime which should prevent future problems. Brian is truly the Rotorooter-Meister!! Thanks!

We woke up Sunday morning of this past weekend to find our basement had flooded. We are exceptionally happy with the service we've received from Roto-Rooter. Dallas, the water extraction and remediation leader, has been phenomenal. In addition to being technically proficient and extremely polite, he's also been exceptionally kind and made a huge difference for my wife and me as we processed a significant loss. His co-worker Tyler has been very considerate and helpful as well. Josh (#4348), who came over to address plumbing issues, was phenomenal and was happy to speak personally with our insurance company to make sure they had an accurate picture of what happened in our situation. Billy (#4163) the camera technician was also super, and was also very patient, understanding, thorough, and thoughtful as we were dealing with the shock of what happened. My wife and I have done a lot of work in the training and service industries, and we have been very impressed with the quality and professionalism of the team that has worked with us. We are so pleased to have selected Roto-Rooter to help us with this very challenging situation and would recommend our providers without hesitation.

Josh #4348 showed up within 45 minutes on a Sunday night and was quickly able to identify the issue. He explained the options we had for fixing the issue and the pro's and con's of each which was appreciated. He was very careful to ensure no mess was made and was overall very professional.

They were flexible about rescheduling an earlier appointment that became inconvenient. The worker was professional and polite and the end product was good.

The tech arrived outside of the promised service window (probably not his fault.) Our tech was very conversant and helpful. He explained the problems with each drain, showed us what he had discovered, and made sure the issue was completely solved. He then explained how to perform regular maintenance on the drains to help us avoid future problems. His demeanor was very engaging and approachable. Treating the pipes regularly is much cheaper than having to get them cleaned.

The Roto Rooter guy came out on time gave me two options and ended up snaking out the blockage. The process took 20 min and the plumber did a great job good guy too.
