We had bought a townhouse with a crappy old refrigerator that had to be replaced. We replaced it with a refrigerator that like most today has an ice cube maker and filtered water. We then discovered there was no water line to the old refrigerator. I called several different plumbers on Angie's List to find out if they installed water lines and how they did their billing. Gary offered an Angie's list customer discount on the first hour of service and billed subsequent hours in quarter hour increments. Gary and his assistant arrived at the townhouse in a timely manner. They came in and I showed them where the water line was near the washer and dryer. They looked around at the setup, trying to figure out the best way to do it. Then we looked under the sink in the kitchen at the hot and cold water lines there. They noticed that the cold water line already had a shut off valve and a spot to tap another water line into. So we discussed the 2 options we had for getting the water line hooked up and the approximate effort involved with each. Having them run the water line to the refrigerator from under the sink was going to be less work and less materials for them to provide. Having them run the water line from the laundry room was going to require more work on their part and more materials expense for valve, etc. I asked Gary what he would do if it was his house, and he said he would have no concerns whatsoever running the water line from under the sink. They drilled 2 small holes in the very back of the cabinet to feed the copper water line through from the sink to the refrigerator. I asked them if they could tack the water line up on the back wall of the cabinets so we wouldn't ever accidentally catch something on them and they said certainly. Before connecting the line to the refrigerator, they grabbed a bucket to catch the water to make sure that the water was running through the line and not leaking. Then they hooked the line up to the refrigerator and filled about 2 huge cups of water from the filtered water spout to make sure that was working. Gary told me to pour and throw out about 2-3 more big glasses of water from the filtered water spout as well as to throw out the first couple batches of ice cubes. Gary and his assistant did a great job. They pushed the refrigerator back into place where I wanted it, cleaned up after themselves and made sure before leaving that I was satisfied. I asked for a couple of his cards so that everyone in my family could have one. I will definitely use them again for any plumbing needs as well as recommend them to any friends looking for a good and reliable plumber.

I contacted Gary for a bid on a new bathroom in our basement. He told me if he needed to give me a firm bid he would need to add cost to make sure he covered his costs or we could go time and material but that it would be $3500 - $4000 tops if we went time and material. He said he'd give me a lower price than normal which was usually $5,000 if he could use our project as a fill in project and come over when he had a free hour or two. We agreed. This was a win win for both of us and we weren't in a hurry so we liked knowing we'd save money. We had gotten two other bids. Gary was in the middle but we thought, per his word, we might get more savings depending on how he finished. We picked him because of his high ratings. He was going to manage the project and hire the subs which would be in addition to his plumbing bid. I gave Gary a check for $1500 to get started. Three weeks later he still hadn't been to the house and no materials had been delivered. I got cranky and he got started. He supplied the shower stall and door and asked for an additional check. I gave him another $1500 to help cover that cost and his work to date. He hired a rough in carpenter and told me NOT to pay him because he would. I asked for detailed invoices. I never received one. Two plus months and $3,000 later, the rough-in was completed and he asked for an additional $2500. I asked if this included his paying off the carpenter and finishing the job. He said it did not AND he would need another $400-500 to finish setting the toilet and the vanity. I had asked him for an invoice and thinking I would get it, I paid him the $2500. After talking with my husband and doing the math and still not getting an invoice or ever seeing one for the project, we decided to stop payment on that check and re-issue one when we received the requested invoice. It appeared Gary wasn't holding up his end of the bargain for the lower price he quoted. We never intended to pay more than his top quoted price as he said $4,000 was tops. If you subtract the $800 cost for the shower and accessories and the $82 for the permit Gary is getting $4618 before he's even set the toilet and vanity (for an additional $500) which is already waaay over what he told me it would cost). This is new construction in a fairly new house so there were no surprises and we haven't added or changed the original project. He's done it just as asked. This puts his bill at over $1,000 over his quote and NOT the deal we struck. We would NEVER have agreed to pay him his full price and allow him to take 2.5 months to just finish a rough in that should take 3-4 days. His slow work has slowed down and complicated this project. Now Gary says that wasn't the deal. Clearly we should've made him put it in writing. We told him we won't pay him until we see an invoice for the total project to date documenting his hours and days worked and what he did when. We trusted hi when he said it could end up at the lower $3500 end of his quote. I have also asked for the carpenter's invoice so I can pay that directly since I'm now worried he won't get paid. I haven't seen that either. It's now two weeks later and we still haven't seen anything so we sent him a check allowing payment for his top bid at $4,000 just to end this relationship. We don't plan on having him back. We have not seen a single invoice this whole time. Gary told me when requesting the $2500 that he only provides invoices when the job is complete. That would work if he kept his word but he doesn't. I explained I just can't write $2500 checks because he asks me to with no back-up of any kind especially since it wasn't what we agreed to. He just shrugged and said, "this is what it costs". We've since had many pros at the house and there have been comments like "he's charging you THAT, for that little plumbing"? Many think even $3500-4,000 was super high much less what Gary is trying to charge us. We started this project in July and it's not even close to being done in October. It's just roughed in, normally three to four days work is what another plumber told us. Originally he told me if he could work when he had an extra hour or two it would save us money. This has made it very difficult to track his time (though it shouldn't matter if he kept his end of the bargain), and apparently he's now trying to charge us the full price when he completes the job in normal time. We would NEVER have agreed to pay his full price for a bath then allow him to take two and a half months to complete it. We've had to lock our dogs in an upstairs bedroom to make sure they wouldn't get out never knowing when Gary would show up. It's important to note; Gary does excellent work and is a very nice guy but apparently he's not good at keeping his word which is surprising with 45 years of experience in the field and his high ratings on Angie's list and the BBB. It was clearly a mistake on our part to not have Gary put this in writing. Unfortunately, we trusted him to keep his word since he had great ratings on Angie's list and the BBB.

Gary was wonderful. Very pleasant to work with. Gary was at my house pretty quickly and ready to work. After putting replacing the disposal, the new one didn't work but not because of anything Gary did, rather when the disposal flooded it tripped our GCFI circuit and fried the outlet. Gary helped me figure out I also needed an electrician. I had an electrician come out and once he replaced the circuit the disposal worked fabulously. Gary even followed up with me to confirm everything was ok.
Description of Work: Our garbage disposal broke causing a leak under the kitchen sink. I brought the disposable and Gary and his son installed the disposal.

The Lindmans were amazing! Our faucet was very, very challenging to replace due to the tight space below the sink. It took them several attempts with various tools, and I overheard them problem-solving together to finally get the thing out and replace it. They were so patient with the problem, so dedicated to getting it right, and so hard-working. Mr. Lindman has been doing this for years, and he said that this was one of the more challenging faucets he'd seen. He was up to the challenge, though, and they completed the job just right. We will definitely call them for all of our plumbing needs.

You should consider Lindman Plumbing if you want a plumber who knows his stuff and who won't take advantage of you with a "high-ball" quote at your home after you've already committed to a $70-80 "flat trip fee" payable whether or not you have them do the work. From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with Gary Lindman, who has been doing this work since 1960. Unlike many plumbing companies, he will give a rough estimate over the phone and he will be honest about his hourly rate. He also does not charge a "flat trip fee" to be added to the bill. I wanted to buy the faucet myself, and Gary gave me good advice on choosing the faucet (e.g. Moen, Delta, Kohler, American Standard are all good, but don't buy a "cheap one"). When Gary and his assistant came to do the work, they could clearly see why the old faucet was loose. The counter top had not been installed correctly by a past contractor, and quite a bit of wood material underneath the counter needed to be "drilled out" and removed in order for the new faucet to be attached (seated) solidly. He also needed some connection line "extenders," and he had all of the misc material he needed in a large van/truck that he takes to all of his jobs. He completed the work in an outstanding manner in less than 2 hours, and the bill was almost exactly what he estimated. In summary, I could not have been more pleased with Lindman Plumbing. Gary Lindman was clearly skilled, responsive, very professional, reasonably-priced, and honest every step of the way. I highly recommend him based upon my experience.

Mr. Lindman gave me some advice that probably saved me at least $100. When I told him where the leak was he knew right away that it was probably in the horn assembly that holds the water meter in place. The only place you can get the horn assembly is from the city water works department. So I went and got one before he and his son came to do the job. He even told me how to make sure to get the right one. The city of Plymouth has 2, a seven and a nine inch horn. Turns out Mr. Lindman was right. They had to replace the horn assembly around our water meter and thanks to his advice, I had the right one on hand! The next time I have a plumbing need, I will be sure to call Lindman Plumbing.

It has turned out very well. He explains exactly what needs to be done and what could be put off so that we can save money. We feel his prices are very fair. First they came in, and looked at what was existing, the plumbing and studs. I told, what I guessed to be a father and son, what I wanted to do and it took approximately 20-25 minutes of them talking about what they were going to do before doing it. I told them that I was going to be putting up 1/2" Hardibacker and then tile, so I needed the fixture to be set in a certain depth. They failed at this. They just did a terrible job overall. None of it looked professional, and they charged professional prices for an overall lousy job. When I had a plumber to install the rest of the fixture, I told him about the job Lindman did, and and actually gave him Lindman's card which he took so I couldn't call them again. I didn't object in the slightest.
Description of Work: I had Lindman Plumbing install a shower fixture for me while remodeling my bathroom. I also had them move the shower head to be centered with the fixture, even though there was a stud running vertically down the center.
