The end result? Many loose boards where the lip was damaged, during installation, so that the boards have popped up. Large gaps where the inlay was placed, due to it not being exactly square. An attempt was made to fill cracks with wood fill, but chipped out within weeks. The incorrect T molds were used where the carpet meets the new floor and has tipped, so there is a large gap under the molding. Hundreds of nail tips were never filled. Mr Kranenburg has refused all calls and contacts with us. We contacted many mediators with his only response is: "Pay me in full or I will file a lien or your house". The Lauzan Flooring representative stated that the warranty is void due to "installation problems". This company never even finished our floor, but want to be paid in full!
Description of Work: Owner Elmer Kranenburg sent one installer to install a Lauzon wood flooring in our kitchen, bath and hallway. We also had an inlay of an additional color around kitchen table. Mr Kranenburgs right hand man, Mike Staffeldt, promised to address our concerns of the possibility of gaps under existing moldings, by feathering the floor. When we ordered the floor, they promised it would be done in one day with a large crew. One installer came and it took several days. Neither, Mr Kranenburg or Mr Staffeldt, will return calls. They give us a time a when they will come, but they don't show up nor do they call. We missed several days of work waiting for their promised arrivals. When problems arose during installation, we were told "that is what you are getting, now pay me in full or I will file a lien on your house" and we never heard from them again.
A real nightmare experience that we are still since 2/06 trying to get resolved. Our home designer is the one contracting with them, and if it was not for her, we would be sitting with an unfinished, totally botched job and out thousands of dollars. The cabinets came all wrong and had to be redesigned in many areas. A person does not pay for custom cherry cabinets and expect ok results. After multiple phone calls and visits to the business, our designer contacted Wood Harbor and reported them. The dealership was already in the process of being pulled due to multiple complaints. None of the owners, Mike, Dale, Brent, or Richard will step up and take care of the problems. They have also billed our designer for past items they state were underbidded. We have had to order the balance of the cabinetry from another source, and at least the cabinet installer is doing his best to make things right. Of course our designer has to pay him any additional costs.
Description of Work: Custom cabinets were ordered for a custom designed fireplace and wet bar. We also ordered and installed mica quartz tile for the fireplace. In addition, we had in-floor, heated tile installed and purchased designer carpet and some additional items for the wet bar.
