He followed thru on scope, schedule and cost. Permitting was seamless and the inspector mentioned it was a quality job. We did not need to babysit his crew and they cleaned up after themselves.

I picked a couple contractors with A ratings and when I met with Paul I knew there would be no one better. Boy was I right! I would recommend him 100 times over. Quality work, attention to detail and he truly listens to what you want. He'll make adjustments to your liking yet also use his expertise to steer you in the right direction. He followed through on every commitment made and I paid not a penny more than his original quote. I have a gorgeous porch that was completed in less than 2 wks. It looks awesome both inside and out!

+ 0 morePaul was extremely responsive. He gave a very detailed bid promptly and was very clear in what was included and not included. He started the project very close to his estimated timeline. The project involved demolition of our existing deck, putting new footings, installing a new 4 season porch and a small maintenance free deck. Paul's workmanship was excellent. His sub contractors were professional and overall it was a good experience. His bid was not the lowest but we felt it was a very good value. He gave us advice on where we could save money and also on aesthetics. We felt that Paul takes pride in his work and is a honest business person. It was a pleasure working with him.

Builder stated this was pretty far down there and that he was booked up till September. He stated since he was booked he was a little less likely to take a job that far away. I just feel a simple no would have sufficed and just because you are booked doesn't discount my needs. Expected better customer service from this builder.

+ 0 morePaul was responsive when initially contacted for a quote. The quote he provided was the most reasonable of the 3 received. His crew was very polite and professional. They completed the work quickly and the results were great! The new cedar decking looks awesome. Our only complaint would be punctuality in the sense that since we don't work from home, we require more notice of the crew coming to our house than was given. In one case, Paul arrived to finish some caulking without any notice.

+ 2 morePaul put in a beautiful deck with a hot tub for us last fall. The deck included a roof system/gazebo structure over the spa. At the time he wanted to wrap the entire roof with cedar but I was thinking that maybe it would be better to leave things open and ventilated. One night while enjoying the hot tub it suddenly dawned on me that by not finishing off the soffits and totally wrapping things that we would be leaving an open invitation for birds and wasps to build nests in between the ceiling and roof.....I called Paul talked to him and we were both in agreement that this may have been an "oops" on my part.....Paul put together a quick quote to wrap everything and when he was there making measurements I told him the garage doors were next on my list.....in a heartbeat Paul said "no problem" we can do those also if you want.........deal done!!! Denise and I picked out a couple doors the next day, Paul picked them up and took care of the installation at the same time he did the deck.......we also had him add a second set of steps to the lower deck.....Paul Klingbeil is probably a bit hard to reserve but all I can say is that it's worth the effort.....he's a good guy, deals with other good guys (Hi - Jason)......and that's what we all want!!!

+ -1 morePaul and his crew were professional from the first meeting. We chose him over 4 others we received bids from. We were most pleased with his reponsiveness and accomodating manner each time I changed my mind on some element. He made suggestions on materials and design to get the most for our dollar. He was always here when he said he would be and at the end of each day left the area tidy. When the city inspector came out for his inspection, he too, said this was one of the nicest decks he'd seen and he did beautiful work!
Description of Work: Paul replaced a very old cedar deck and replaced it with a beautiful no maintainence deck. From the beginning to the end, Paul and his crew were wonderful. He listened to what we wanted and built a deck that was more than I could have imagined. He has an enormous attention to detail. Not one cut corner.

+ -1 moreOverall, we were extremely happy with Paul and his crew and the excellent quality of their work. Paul took a lot of pride in his work even in the smallest details . We would highly recommend Paul's construction company to anyone who needs work done.
Description of Work: Paul was great to work with. We liked him from the first time we met him. He seemed so down to earth. We had 3 bids for a two level deck and a 4 season porch. Paul was considerably lower with his estimate. The other 2 bids were bid high according to what the contractors said because they didn't want any surprises. Paul told us he tries to bid what the costs will be unless something shows up which he wasn't aware of. His bid was right on which we were impressed with. He started a week earlier than we expected which we were thrilled with. Paul and his crew were worked hard and finished it all in about about 3 weeks. It was hard to believe how quickly they worked. This first day they tore down the old deck and the next day they put in the footings. Also, they started the decks. On the third day the framing of the porch was complete. Paul was conscientious about the quality of the work. He was friendly and easy to work with. Paul did a great job managing all the different people involved with our project. If we had a question or thought we wanted to change something he was willing to listen and help us understand or make an informed decision. When ever we e-mailed or called Paul he was prompt in getting back to us. We never had to wait very long.

+ -1 moreThey showed up date promised and put the deck up in 3 days which I was really impressed. We went with the diagonal boards and deck lights so it added a little extra to the deck. He helped line up an electrician for help with drilling the holes for the deck lights, which I then installed myself. We had him come back to redo the top of one of the corner posts as it was uneven with the top finishes. Overall very good to work with and would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Price - Had several quotes from deck contractors and Paul was below or in line with them. Quality - Good craftsmanship. There were some finishes we werent wild about, but nothing we couldn't live with. Specifically some of the finishing on the top of the posts. If we had been a little more specific about what we wanted it would have been avoided. Responsiveness-Paul worked with me in person and over email which was a big plus with my busy schedule. He was very good about answering questions and communicating next steps. Do: Be around when construction starts to clarify the plan/design. Don't: Wait too long to sign. With smaller crews they have less availability. Decker was 22 x 14 ft in Cedar.

+ -1 morePaul was able to work us into his schedule sooner than we originally discussed. Paul and his crew were very professional and hard working. The only hiccup in the project was the city building inspector, who was very picky. We ended up changing our original plans because of him. The end result turned out very nice, and we are happy nonetheless. I would recommend Paul Klingbeil Construction to anyone who would like to have a beautiful deck built quickly and with attention to detail.
Description of Work: Demolition of old two tier deck. Installed 4 new footings, built 10 ft. x 20 ft cedar deck with 8 ft section of privacy fence which is 1x6x6 ft, shadow effect. Used black aluminum railing. Also poured 2 areas of concrete and built 2 steps into the deck on each end. Price included $261.50 for city building permit.

+ -1 moreA large oak tree fell on my trex deck and house smashing the roof, gutters, deck and deck furniture. After having the tree removed I attained three estimates from reputable construction companies. I saw, "Paul Klingbeil Construction" listed in Angie's List. Paul came over immediately and provided me with options and coordinating estimates. He also provided necessary paperwork for my insurance claim. Paul's estimate was quite a bit lower than other estimates that I received. However, upon meeting Paul, I could tell that Paul had integrity and took pride in his work. I felt that he would provide me with a quality deck and repairs. Paul had a team of two workers demolish and replace the deck. Both were trustworthy and easy to have around. Paul checked in periodically performing a good deal of the work himself. He always checked to make sure that I was satisfied with everything. All in all, it was a great experience. I now have a deck that is much nicer than even my first deck. The craftsmanship is superb. I plan to ask Paul to do some indoor carpentry in the future.
Description of Work: The existing broken deck was taken apart. A new deck was built including new steps, rail and floor. The gutters and some roofing was replaced.

+ -1 moreEverything went great. They came out and gave me an estimate, a few weeks later they fit me into their busy schedule and poured the foundation one day, and built the foundation of my deck the next day. I did the rest of the work myself. Paul and his crew did a great job.
Description of Work: Paul built the framing of my deck. The deck was 20 by 14. I did the rest of the work myself but a wanted a professional to build the structure as the deck is 9 to 10 feet off the ground. Paul and his crew were very professional, honest, and built a sturdy base for my deck. I spent approximately $2300 and was very pleased with the price and the quality. I would hire Paul again.

+ -1 moreThe experience was great from start to finish!!! Paul is hard working and very detail oriented. He took care of almost everything from start to finish. All we did was select and purchase the hot tub and arrange for an irrigation company to come in after the footings were drilled to repair and move some of the lines and heads (they typically drill first then locate and repair any damaged lines). Everything was taken care of on schedule from design to clean up including arranging for a dumpster, pouring the hot tub pad, arranging for and scheduling an electrician. As expected we thought of a few things after the original quote and needed to make some minor changes (a privacy wall on one side, the roof structure, and a modification to the stairs). Paul was really flexible and helpful with everything. There's really a lot more I could talk about than time or space here permits but the deck turned out beautiful and we are totally satisfied. This was pretty much the dream deck for us and all I can say in closing is that if you're considering Paul and his crew for a deck/remodeling job, go for it.......you won't be disappointed!!!

The railing along the stairs is great. Everything looks awesome! I would recommend this company to anyone and would use them again! A great value for the money spent!
Description of Work: I requested an addition built onto my deck. I also requested that the footings on the existing deck be replaced, stairs added and all of the railing replaced. He suggested to also replace the floor of the existing deck so that it looked like an entirely new deck; he did this at a very reasonable additional charge. The owner was very professional and easy to work with. Because of the drought this summer, the holes for the footings were very difficult to dig. As to be expected, the process took longer than originally thought but they were very flexible and adjusted the construction schedule accordingly. He scheduled the inspection and ensured everything was perfect in the end.

+ -1 moreEverything about our project went flawlessly! From start to finish, we couldn't have been happier with Paul and his crew's work. Materials were delivered as we were given the "heads-up" they would be. Paul and his crew started exactly when they said they would. The project proceeded at a rapid pace and they finished up a week earlier than quoted. The fact that we had excellent weather during the whole building project didn't hurt the schedule either. We were amazed at Paul and his crew and how well they coordinated the work. Obviously, they have done many projects like this before and their skills were evident. I think the fact that Paul is "hands-on" and here, working beside his crew, says a lot as to the quality of the finished product. We are so thankful that we decided on Klingbeil Construction. I don't know how any building project could have gone better. My husband has been a licensed contractor himself and knows a lot about building things. The ultimate compliment from him is that he said, "I couldn't have done it better myself".
Description of Work: We had an architect design a second-story three-season porch with an attached deck with steps going down to a patio. Our architect recommended several contractors that he had worked with before. We interviewed those contractors and also we found Paul Klingbeil on Angie's List. After comparing Paul and the others, we had a strong feeling that Paul would be best for us and our project. We found the reviews on Angie's List to be most helpful as Paul had an outstanding reputation for doing good work. Paul's bid was in the ballpark of the others while being on the lower side.

The time and work was arranged over the phone. I then met with the guy in the morning, talked over some details, and he did the rest in my absence. Everything looks nice done and I have no complaints.

He stated that he would come over and check out my deck. I let him know to give us a call before he comes so that we don't wonder if who the guy was in our backyard. He agreed that he would be able to stop by within a week. Never heard from the guy again. Seemed nice enough and I can't tell you if he does a good job or not. Never showed up and never called back. I appreciate the response. If I needed work done I would try them again. Seemed like a nice guy and was honest up front that he would have a hard time squeezing me in. I would try calling in advance because they seem indemand.

I would use his services because there are awful lots of work to be done around this neck of the woods. He works by himself; so he is totally responsible for the products he puts out. I think that is a good thing.

Paul and his crew were professional and meticulous in the construction of our new screened-in deck and stairs. Paul listened to what we wanted and was very knowledgeable about materials and what would be in our best interest. They were even meticulous in cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. We happened to be here when the inspector came by and he was even impressed with their work. We would highly recommend Klingbeil Construction and would use them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: We had a new 13x15 screened-in, and 8x10 deck built by Klingbeil Construction. A tongue-and-groove ceiling, ceiling fan, and lighting were also included.
