 + -1 moreThis was our second experience with Champion and it all went incredibly smoothly. We waited until we took our large bay window that was purchased a year ago through a winter, before we replaced more. We wanted to be sure that the window would really be efficient through the heating season. Although last winter was an anomaly with our warm temps, there were no drafts and we obviously very pleased. We ordered the windows on June 26th. The appointment to get them measured was on June 28th. The gentleman who measured the existing windows arrived right on time, and very efficiently measured and got pertinent information. We were told that the windows would be 6-8 weeks out,and we were called during the 8th week to schedule installaion. We had requested the same team that had installed our previous window (the large bay). We were able to get the brothers again and were very happy. Just as last time, they were polite, efficient and incredilbly neat. When they left the house that day, after about four hours, there was no indication inside or out that there had been a major project taking place. Just five new windows brightening the place up. There was no debris or even dust inside the house, and there was no debris outside anywhere. Now, two months later, ( a year later for the Bay Window) I am still thrilled with my new windows!

 + 0 moreThe sales man was very knowledgeable and prompt with his appointments and proposals. The fabrications of the windows and doors were completed in a timely manner as well. The job was completed in only 4 days with a crew of 2 men and a third for only 1 of those days. They worked cleanly and were very careful about our home and privacy.
Description of Work: We had all windows and sliding doors replaced in our home. There were 5 sliding doors and over 45 panes of glass. We have a 5000 sq. ft. house.

Meet with our salesman, Alex who was very informative and knowledgeable. Ordered six windows and a patio door to be installed. The young man who came to measure everything went over all the details and answered all my questions. The windows arrived on schedule. The installers were fantastic! They were brothers and worked like a machine. The whole job was completed in a day. The windows and the patio door look great.

 + -1 moreThe whole process really went smooth. The salesman was very good. He was knowledgeable, thorough, and very friendly. I was surprised at how affordable their product was compared to some of the competition especially considering the quality of their product, which was second to none. They also had great financing options (no interest for 1 year from the date of completed install) which was a nice option and really made it a no brainer for me so I signed the agreement that night.They sent out a couple of guys a few days later to measure the exact size of my window openings. I was told it would take four to six weeks for the windows to be custom built. About three and a half weeks went by and I got a call saying my windows were in and they were ready to schedule an install day. The following week the guys came, removed all 14 windows and installed the new ones in about a day and a half. Everyone throughout the process was very kind, knowledgeable and seemed like they really cared about what they do. They have a lifetime warranty on their product. Their glass has full replacement for life too, no questions asked. I would highly recommend their product and there company to anyone.

 + -1 moreOverall - Champion took a horrible experience and turned into a wonderful experience. I can say this now but hiring that painting company was the almost the best decision we made as being home owners - the BEST decision we made was hiring Champion. The windows looked amazing and still do. They are so easy to clean and we don't have "hot" or "cold" spots in our house anymore. I didn't have to live with all the window coverings closed this summer. Thank you again Champion and ALEX!!!!!
Description of Work: In July of 2011 we hired a painting company to paint the trim on our double hung windows. They did a horrible job, they power washed our 40 year old double hung windows. This broke the seals, then they painted the windows shut and I mean SHUT. They really botched the job. We received a settlement from the painting company. We had Home Depot, Window World and Champion come out. Alex from Champion came out first. He was so empathetic to our horrible experience from this painting company. He completely understood when we didn't feel comfortable signing anything THAT DAY. He said he'd meet us where we needed after we made our decision. Home Depot's prices were CRAZY. We have some different shaped windows, some are the same, some are different. Their windows did not have the same warranty as Champion's. Window World was just a completely laughable experience. They didn't even have that heat lamp that Alex and Home Depot had. No warranty either. We called Alex, we didn't have the actual check yet from the painting company, he said that if for some reason we didn't get what we asking for as far as the amount of the settlement, we could figure it out then. What really sold us on Champion was 1) ALEX, 2) we didn't have to worry about - were we getting the bottom quality window for our $. It didn't matter if we had $800 per window or if we had $5,000 to spend on a window. They were all made the SAME. Home Depot and Window World could not say that. 3) The fact that we were able to replace 11 our 15. We can replace the rest over the next coupld of years at that same price. I must have changed "our" mind about 5 times as to the style. Colonial.....no prairie.....no diamonds......plain....finally we decided. Champion staff were so patient with my calls. We received the settlement check and fall was approaching FAST. We asked Alex if we could sign the check over to Champion to get things moving faster. He said that would be fine. Champion sent us a check for amount left over. That worked very slick. They educated about the lead paint and how it would work when they replaced the windows. Installation day, it was first part of November 2011. There were 2 guys. I can't remember their names but OH MY WORD they were awesome. One guy inside the other guy outside. It took them the same amount of time to take and put in 11 windows and wrap the outside than it did for Home Depot to replace our Patio Door in 2010. If I had know that Champion did patio doors, they woul d have done that for us as well. I had just had foot surgery, I had to put my foot up for a while and the gentleman who was on the inside was very nice about that. They were so clean too!!!! They didn't take off for a lunch break or anything. They just worked through and "got 'er done".

 + 0 moreWe called them to have a representative come out to our home and give us an estimate. Was so surprised when a man showed up that we knew. We had a great visit with him and very professional estimate done. We decided to pay a visit to their showroom in New Hope to get an even better idea of what they had to offer. The visit was totally pleasant and professional and decided to place an order. The order came in when we were told it would and the installation went perfectly. The men who did the installation were not only prompt but professional and polite and neat and quiet and very, very, efficient. They were done in a very short amountof time for the amount of windows we had and they were so clean and tidy, I couldn't believe it. They showed us how everything worked and we were so totally happy with the whole experience. We decided to have a new front door installed at a later date to match the windows and then just this past spring had a new sliding patio door installed as well. All three times went great ... so efficient!! We have one more patio door to replace and I will call Champion for sure to have that done also. Those guys ROCK!!
Description of Work: We had old windows removed and new windows installed throughout our home. We loved them so much that we also had a new front door installed, at a later date, to match the windows. Then just this past spring we had Champion install a new sliding patio door also. Love all of them.

 + 1 moreChampion patio rooms crew arrived on site in the the time frame they gave me when I ordered the sun room. The crew was professional in all areas and answered all my questions satisfactorily.They cleaned the area every night before they left and did their best not to damage any plants near the project.The sun room came out fantastic and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in a patio room.
Description of Work: Champion removed my old deck,and railings,but kept the deck frame... They dug new footings and put up new supports They put in a new sub-floor and constructed the aluminum frame for the sun room.The electrician wired the whole project in one day. Next they put on the roof and tar papered and shingled the roof. They removed the old steel siding from the house and applied tung and groove pine to the house side of sun room. Then they measured all the openings for the glass and in about one week the glass came and they installed it. They also insulted the floor,put in a plastic moisture barrier,nailed plywood to the under side of deck and put in maintenance free vinyl over the plywood.

However, they were very professional and had some of the best reviews and warranties for the work. The work was done in about six hours, and they were very clean and professional. I highly recommend them and will use them again when it's time for any additional window, door or siding work we might need.

Description of Work: WOW, Ok first of all, We Had a Bay window put in the fornt along with 9 other windows. All of the calling and setting up the start date and all involved with the Bay window insatalation, was all done right the fist time. Yeah that's what I thought too. Onward and upwards, So I had everything moved out of the way when they got here, First the window crew and then the Bay window crew. I am really impressed with how professional I saw these crews work together. Once the window crew were finished, without any hesitation, they lent the Bay window crew a hand and the whole job was finished within a day, in time for me to make dinner. Everything all cleaned up, and new windows all in.

 + -1 moreWe went to the showroom to look at their displays and get an estimate because it is quite close to our home. A salesman came over to us and showed the windows answering all of our questions. When we asked for a rough estimate, he asked if we knew the dimensions of the window. Since we did, he wrote up a quote right then for the project - not just a rough estimate like we had requested, and told us when the sale would be over. There was absolutely no pressure. We decided the next day that we were going to do the project, so we went back over to sign the papers. (Part of the pricing was a showroom discount). Our salesman was not available, but another one stepped right in and finished the paperwork for us as well as setting up the appointment with Joe for the final measurements to be taken. The day of that appointment, Joe came to the house promptly at the appointed time, took the measurements, confirmed what we wanted, and said that the window should come on 4-6 weeks. He also told us that we would not hear from them until the window was in, so not to worry about that. We were called on the first day of the 5th week with the news that the window was in, and we set up the installation date. We were told to allow 4-6 hours for installation. The day of installation, the men were right on time and they set to work immediately. One worked mostly outside, and one worked mostly inside. The inside worker removed his shoes every time he came in the house and put a cloth down at the door way to catch what was on his shoes that were left there. They removed the old windows, and the debris from the demolition of the old windows was immediately cleaned up both inside and out. The inside guy brought a shop vac with him and vacuumed the floor several times during the tear out and install. I don't know how the outside guy kept everything so clean, but honestly, you would not know driving by that this 4 hour job had just been completed. The whole job took just under 4 hours, and looks fantastic! All of the millwork was installed perfectly, and the workmanship on the window itself is beautiful. One of the guys went over everything about the window with us before they left and left brochures about the window with us as well as telling to not hesitate to call if we had any questions or issues.

 + -1 moreThe price we negotiated with Champion and our working relationship with the company were overall very good. They did not quote the lowest price of all the companies we interviewed, but they were second-lowest and within our budget, and the negotiation process (several rounds of back-and-forth) was fair and professional, unlike a lot of the other companies that were very pushy and high pressure. However, we were told in the bid process that the project would take between 3 - 4 weeks. In reality, it took much longer. We had multiple hot days and rainy days where no work was completed, but there was no communciation from the company about any of it. It took about 7 weeks to complete the project - complete siding, soffit, facia, window & door trim, and gutters. The work turned out GREAT! The team was very friendly, and our crew leader Galen was very, very helpful in answering questions. So the team was great! Our only other frustration with Champion was that throughout the process, we made a couple of calls to the company to ask questions about what was going on, and the company was very slow to respond, if they did at all. Initially we were trying to contact the scheduling project manager with questions, as we did not have numbers for anyone else. Eventually we did get the phone numbers of two of the crew leaders (Bobbi and Galen), who were very helpful and actually got back to us. But calls to the office to ask any questions during off-days or after weekend storms were not returned. That was disappointing: after spending so much money, we had a hard time getting our questions answered. Overall, Champion did a great job and we feel we got a good value. However, we wish they had slightly better customer-service. We would choose Champion again though, because of the great job and good price.
Description of Work: We completely replaced all of our siding, including soffit, facia, window & door trim, and gutters.

 + -1 moreI met Ken Paeth at the 2009 Mpls Home & Garden Show in March. He was very helpful and patient! (I had met with 5 companies over the month of April... Ken was #2). Ken's knowledge of windows and what Champion had to offer were exactly what I was looking for. His professionalism was very apprecitated. (The only person I received a handwritten "Thank You" while I was still looking at other companies! Hey, so I'm old school) The first estimate Ken gave us was replacing the windows with the same (double hungs). Then we went down to Champion's showroom to see all their windows. That's when I called him for another estimate with casements and sliders. Regarding the windows: I really liked the sturdiness of the frames and the 365 Comfort Glass. I was impressed with the lifetime warranty with no fault (glass breakage, screens) replacement. Our final deciding factor was the 12 mo SAC financing (you bet I'd borrow someone elses $ when it is same as cash!) When we finally made our decision in early May, it pushed our install date out 6-8 weeks. That was our fault, but our research paid off. Above all, my new windows look great! Andy did a fantastic job with the caulking! I'm exremely pleased to go with the casements and slider, it has really opened up the window, now there is no more "bar" when I look out! Plus, they have proven "worthy" of the expense since the late afternoon sun exposure would heat up our home drastically... not anymore! Regarding the price, it was a bit spendy, but after a lot of research and comparison, it was very competitive. I have many more windows to do, and I will be definitely be call Ken!
Description of Work: Replaced 3 windows in the front (west exposure) of our home: kitchen window (double hung) replaced with single casement, dining window (2 side by side double hungs) replaced with single slider, and living room picture window with double hungs flanking both sides; replaced double hungs with casements on the sides, and of course a new center picture window.

 + -1 moreGood. Sales was smooth, installation went well and final product is excellent. Follow up on servicing however has been less than optimum. 1 piece of rake board (at the gabled end) needed to be re-done and it was like pulling teeth. When the old gutters were taken off, the original gutter hangers were left in place, causing the existing shingles to stick up. Also, although they could have made a bit more money, they left the old, existing gutter board / drip edge in place, which was rusty. This should have probably been replaced. Although Scott from servicing has called me several times, no one has ever come out to remove the old gutter hangers; they are now being removed as a result of a roof replacement. Good company but too much follow up and too little follow through!
