Joe was able to schedule the job around the plumber's job and was very flexible with regard to my delays with the plumbing. He communicated with us about everything he was doing, which instilled a feeling of confidence. The tile job looks great! I would highly recommend Joe to anyone in need of a tile job.
Description of Work: Joe Tabery removed the old tile and re-tiled the tub area. He removed the sheetrock behind the tile and replaced it with cement board. Joe also retiled the single row of tile next to the new bath tub. He also replaced the broken thresh-hold (at the door-way) with tile.

We originally had laminate flooring on most of the main floor (about 575 s.f.) in our 4 year old home. Due to a leaky wash machine, all of the laminate flooring had to be removed. My wife and I had never had tile installed before, but we decided to give Joe at Tabery Design a call. Within a day or two Joe stopped by to give us an estimate for installing tile throughout all the damaged rooms (kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, dinette and foyer). In addition to the estimate, Joe gave us tips on what to look for when selecting floor tile and gave us ideas on various tile installation patterns. He also recommended quality tile distributors in our area where we could shop. To eliminate any future problems we may have with a leaky wash machine, Joe had the idea to install a shower drain under the wash machine. What a great idea! When we gave him the go ahead for the installation, Joe immediately ordered the tile and started prepping the floor. Instead of using the traditional cement backer board to lay the tile on, Joe recommended pouring a thin layer or self-leveling concrete on the subfloor which he had covered with a paper. This would greatly reduce the chance of cracking when the house settles. A nice touch in my opinion. After the floor had cured, Joe was right back to install the tile. It took about 2-3 days to completely install the tile. The grout took an additional day. From the beginning of the floor prep to the end of the grout work, the job took about 5 work days. Very quick for 575 s.f. in my opinion. Throughout the job Joe was extremely professional. He always picked up before he left for the day and he was extremely meticulous about how the tile was installed. My wife and I are so happy with the way the floor turned out. Thanks to Joe, everything was done efficiently and painlessly. As a result, we have a master bathroom and a kitchen backsplash we'd like to have tiled and Tabery Design will be at the top of our list when we decide to move forward with them. I would recommend Joe to anyone interested in having a high-quality tile floor installed. Thanks again Joe!
Description of Work: We wanted to replace our laminate flooring with a high-quality floor tile. Joe helped us select the best kind of tile for our needs, gave us suggestions on the best options for the layout, and did the entire installation.

We are very happy with the end result. While the work was being done the area was cleaned up after each day's work so we could live with minimal disruption. Joe and Jason are very polite and were easy to have in the house. They were considerate of our schedule and needs. I was never afraid to leave them working while we were sometimes away for hours a day. Joe was in constant contact via cell phone. The end result and our satisfaction was just as important to Joe as it was to us.
Description of Work: Tabery Design tiled two new handicapped accessible bathrooms and one existing bathroom that had to be demoed prior to new installation. The work was done in two phases because we were living in the house throughout the remodeling process. The quality of the work is that of a skilled craftsman and an artist. Joe listened to our needs and ideas and followed through faithfully. He also had some insights and ideas that helped in the design process. Joe referred us to a very helpful tile supplier who spent many hours with us as we picked out reasonably priced tile. Joe fit his schedule into the schedule of many other tradesmen working in the house. The shower benches are skillfully done and very helpful in our situation. The floor drains work well which is very important because the floor is wheelchair accessible. The glass tile adds so much to the overall effect. The design we chose was not easy but Joe did a skillful job of installation. It is obvious that he took time to plan the job and takes great pride in his work. He seems to love a challenge. We have received many compliments on the work that was done.

The whole experience was great. He gave me his estimate in 24 hours. The work to be done was very clearly stated and the price for materials was listed separate from the labor. The labor was broken down by each part of the job and the materials were itemized. I even checked the tile shops and Home Depot and they verified that given the size of the job the amounts were very accurate. He arrived on time as scheduled and worked so fast each day, I was surprised that he did not need the whole day for each step of the process. He finished two days earlier than expected. He always returned my calls and always called me at night to find out if everything looked okay from that day's work. He seemed to be willing to do both small and big jobs. My biggest concern was to properly float the shower floor. It was a large area and the drain was not centered. He could do these with his eyes closed. It came out great.
Description of Work: Remodeled master bath. Wanted to save money by hiring all of the trades people myself. Joe was a great referral by my carpenter. He tiled the floor and the shower with Travertine tiles from Home Depot. He made the tile look like it was the most expensive tile from any of the high end shops. The work was perfect. We added shower boxes and a bench was built inside the shower. Everything came out great. We were looking for a tile artist, and that is exactly what we got. He was incredibly reasonable on the whole job.
