Rainbow Treecare West Metro

Didn't hire Rainbow. Used a different company from Angie's List - Central MN Tree Service - whose bid came in at far less than half of Rainbow's rate. I don't understand the pricing difference, especially when all the companies are licensed and insured. Rainbow comes highly recommended, and I will try them again and check their prices if any of the trees that survived the purge need any TLC in the future. The estimate was for $3000.

I had some difficulty scheduling the work. First the work was delayed a couple of weeks as their other jobs took priority (and they didn't notify me of the delay), and then they didn't show on the promised day. However, the manager worked it out to my satisfaction. The work itself was done well and the crew was knowledgeable, helpful and courteous.

The work Rainbow did was just fine. However, communication was a problem on several fronts. The arborist initially didn't get back to me with an estimate, due to personal issues; his eventual recommendations were great and he was very professional, so I cut him some slack and hired them. What they didn't tell me was that the work would be done by 4 different teams--when the first call came to let me know they'd be out to trim our trees, I left a note asking them to remove an extra stump, thinking it would be done that day, so the trimming team removed a stump even though that wasn't their job. My husband noticed that they also trimmed a tree we'd decided not to trim, which Rainbow credited us for. Then the stump team accidentally removed one of the wrong stumps (which is okay because it was an old lilac I'd cut down), but I did want to see if it would grow back. Throughout, it seemed that the customer service staff and the people doing the work just weren't on the same page.

Got a quick response from the office, who sent an arborist out to our house. He performed the estimate quickly and then spent a few extra minutes with us looking at other trees in the yard, offering advice (for free). The person who performed the service was a college kid, but he did a very nice job with repairing the damage to the area surrounding the tree after his work was done. Overall, very nice experience.

The guy was very informative. They are coming back in September for another treatment. I expect them to be as punctual as they were the first time. Ben talked me through everything. He was extremely informative. I did not get the feeling that I was being used. He took his time and did not rush. Nothing but good things to say.

This respectful treatment assures Rainbow that I will continue to be a regular customer for years to come. Thank you Rainbow for your policy, and Al for your frank appraisal of the situation.

Dave came and filled me in on exactly what the cause was and how much it would cost to remove. They were very busy and needed to add a surcharge to have them remove the tree within a week. I chose to go with a company that wasn't as busy. They were extremely professional and very prompt in returning calls and setting up appointments. I will definitely consult with them in the future.

They did the job very well. They had the best price in town!

They did a nice job. Some of the really big branches that were taken down had knocked over my bird feeder. They didn't tell me about it, but it was sitting on my deck later. They cleaned up well after themselves, and didn't have to have any heavy machinery in to perform the work. They even took my old Christmas tree that was left in the yard without even having to ask! They are going to come back out to do spraying when the time is appropriate.

Each job was excellent. A landscape diagram was drawn for my lot with each tree/shrub numbered. For each numbered tree/shrub detailed instructions for the work to be performed were provided in writing. I relied heavily on the arborist for advice and was not disappointed by his recommendations. Cleanup was thorough. The results of the work were exactly as explained. Crew was friendly, professional. The arborist who provided the estimate was on site during the work each time.

They did the pruning in the winter of dead branches and I asked them how they knew which branches were dead in the winter they told me that in the spring if there was any more dead branches that they didn't prune they would come back out to prune the rest. There was some more dead branches and they stuck to their word and came back out. Overall I have used them a couple times and they have been excellent.

There is a crew of four. They work beautifully together. They work very efficiently and are very good about cleaning up when they were done. If they had any questions, they asked. They are also very reasonably priced and excellent to work with. We originally dealt with Amy Caldwell and she is wonderful.

Amy was extremely helpful when she did the first evaluation. She not only discussed what treatment was needed but also identified trees and bushes on the property and talked about removal of buckthorn and options for future plantings.

One of the consulting arborists came for a consultation several weeks before the final appointment was scheduled. He provided a thorough review of the work that needed to be done within the constraints of our original request. He also gave us a general overview of the health of the tree and work he anticipated might need attending to in the next 20 years or so. We decided to go ahead with Rainbow and a few weeks later a team of 2 people plus the arborist came to prune the tree. They were quick but thorough and the results were astonishing. We had no idea how overgrown the Maple had become. They cleaned up all branches and leaves, leaving little trace that any work had been done (besides the obvious).

It went very well. They were VERY fast, basically same day service. We're really happy with how the side of the house looks.

Had the arborist give suggestions on how to help stressed oaks. The arborist was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Excellent information from a friendly arborist. Good job by tree trimmers who took off more from some trees when I requested it. Price was extremely reasonable. But the information from the arborist was very helpful. In fact other companies would have done extra trimming which the arborist indicated would have been useless. I definitely plan to use them again.

Their price was competitive. To my surprise, the salesman they sent out didn't seem to know his trees very well, and I opted for a company with a more professional assessment of our needs.

Great. The arborist was wonderful. He drew us a map of our property, marked the names of all the trees and gave us his opinion of their condition. He also gave us recommendations for what we could do for the tree in question, which we took, paid for, and the tree has been beautiful this year.

Jeff Rick was the consulting agent. He was prompt, courteous and generous in explaining his diagnosis and recommendation. The folks who came and removed the tree and branches were prompt and cleared up the site very well.

They came out to give me an estimate, and they were very knowledgeable. They helped me take a good look at the trees I had and what needed help. Most of these trees were planted 20 years ago, and then never touched. Some needed to be trimmed away from the house, and others just needed a bit of care. I don't feel that they were just trying to get my money, but gave an honest opinion on what work should be done. Since this is the busy season for tree trimming, they warned me that they are currently booking out into December. I did go ahead and tell them to do the work.

Leben who came to give the quote was very helpful, answering questions about whether we should just take the tree down. We decided to prune. We weren't home when they did the work but they left the yard in good shape and a very trimmed tree.

Overall my experience was more dissatisfied than satisfied, not so much because of the quality of the work, but because of what seemed to me to be a lack of interest in what the company must have considered too small a project. Everyone was courteous enough, but I just sensed some impatience with me at times, perhaps because I had a hard time deciding what kind of shrubs I wanted put in to replace the ones that were taken out. But what really bothered me was that the stump and surface root remover did not get all of the visible surface roots and it took several weeks to get them to send someone out to finish that phase of the job. Then, to top of my discontent, I received a bill after late in August, that showed I owed them several hundred dollars, when in fact, I had paid all their bills within days (if not hours) of receiving them. I called their accounting or billing department and had to leave a message that I didn't owe them anything and could prove it. I never received a reply.

The estimator was very professional and offered several suggestions on how to do the work, but also kept in mind future possibilities for the yard. They came out less than a week later and did the work, minus grinding the stump. The yard was free of debris. The stump grinding happened later than expected, but they called and kept me informed of delays. They were actually slightly higher than another company, but I was so impressed with the person who came out and did the estimate that I chose them.

Mike Sambrio, the arborist, arrived on time and was extremely knowlegeable and helpful. He diagnosed the crabapple tress with apple scab and provided a treatment recommendation which I will be pursuing. Additionally, Mike took the time to walk my property and identify all of the trees. He left me with a map of my house with the trees outlined so I wouldn't forget. Finally, he gave me some tips on pruning some of my existing trees as well as on the ones I already had pruned. Towards the end of our consultation, he was able to provide me a quote on the spot for the removal of a Mugho pine which is extremely overgrown. I would highly recommend Rainbow to anyone and look forward to working with them.
