MJK CONSTRUCTION

Horrible. I got 3 bids and 2 were around $650 for 1/2 day of work. MJK bid $60/hour. I thought it would be a better price but he ended up taking 2 full days to get the work done and his labor cost me $1100. I took a day off of work to help him the first day. When I realized it was going to take him 2 days I didn't know what to do. It was too late to stop. He worked really slowly. The front door storm door was not installed properly at least because the bottom closer was not put on. He couldn't figure out how to get it to work. The door worked for about 2 weeks and then flew open one day and hasn't worked properly since then. MJK came back at my request and offered to fix it for only $50. After spending $1100 for his labor over two days for what others bid only $650 I am appalled that he would charge me anything. Fortunately, I was able to receive replacement parts from a door retailer but I am reluctant to have MJK come back to fix it. I am afraid he doesn't really know what he's doing and that's why it took so long for all of the work and why the door did not work properly. He did not recess the holes in the new brick molding that was put up. I did it after he left. He did a really sloppy job filling in the holes in the porch with new cement where the old pilasters were removed. He just globed it on and now it looks terrible and it's permanent cement. I receive his name from a lumber yard and thought that it would be okay since the lumber yard gave me his name.
