I had spent a frustrating day trying to visit granite businesses who were not open on Saturdays, or whose website listed incorrect hours. It was a treat to find the MTS showroom in Minnetonka open and busy. Alejandra (Allie) came over to me immediately to ask about my needs, and she reviewed all of the available quartz options. She clearly broke down the pricing and the process for ordering, measuring and installation. I left that day without making a decision. Allie provided just the right amount of follow-up, asking if I needed more information without being pushy about it. The MTS prices for quartz countertops were comparable to what I found elsewhere. I ended up going with another company only because they could do the installation sooner than the MTS folks could. I would definitely look at MTS for future work.

The service has gone fine. If I had any issues they were happy to come out right away to resolve the problem. I had to have them fix the plumbing with the sink and they were able to modify a cut out to install the faucet of the sink. He came out within 40 minutes of calling them. The technicians have done excellent work. I have had no issues with scheduling.

Understand that their bids may be highly inaccurate. My husband created detailed construction drawings with accurate measurements for the countertops and sent out for bids. MN Tile & Stone bid the job and had a fair price. I asked if they charged by the slab or by the amount used. The sales person said by the amount used per the final measure. We had a tight time line which I shared with the sales rep and asked if they would be able to do it. She said yes, if we kept on task and didn't lose time making decisions. We agreed to move forward with them and we paid 50% of the cost down to begin the job. A local granite supplier had 2 slabs from the same cut at a store close to us. If the job would require 3 slabs, we had to go to a location on the opposite side of the metro area, a long drive in city traffic in the middle of the day. They came out to measure and I asked the person who did the measurement if it would take 2 or 3 slabs. He thought it could go out to 3 slabs, depending on the size of the slabs. He advised me that I should get the longest slabs possible. So, I made the long trip, found an unusually long slab (the floor sales person said 'I didn't know we had anything this long. Highly unusual.') and put the slabs on hold. The next day, we received a change order with minor adjustments after the measure. We signed & returned the change order same day. When I called to find out the installation date, they called back with "bad news" . . . the cost would be roughly 44% more than their estimate. When I asked why I was told that it was because the order had to go to 3 slabs. I think they were repricing the job so that I had to pay for the slab, regardless how much needed for our job. I conveyed how unhappy I was with this turn of events and asked to speak with a manager. He called my work # at 7:30 AM and left a message that said he didn't know what he could do for me but I should call back if I wanted to discuss. I called back and left a message. He never returned that call.
