Ron gave us great design ideas that were beautiful and that fixed a long standing drainage problem. It was a large project (60K) and his design was best and his bid was the lowest of 3 that we received. The work crew was extremely competent, hard-working, polite, and respectful of our privacy and property. We’re totally pleased with the outcome and feel we received good value for the investment.

Fantastic! I would use L & R again without hesitation. They are not cheap, but the work that they do is top-notch and the service is professional, timely, and aimed at total customer satisfaction. I can honestly say that the response was immediate and without question on little details I noticed after making final payment. It didn't matter that I had already paid in full. They responded and made everything just as it was planned. I'm so happy I hired L & R. You will be, too!

We chose L&R because they were willing to take on every aspect of our extensive project, and we are so happy with that decision. Owner Lyle stopped by - often multiple times each day - to check on the work in progress, to guide his excellent, hardworking and personable workers, and to oversee subcontractors. He always had time to patiently answer all of our questions. We also appreciated the office staff, always friendly and responsive.

It went exceptionally well, including: the project design & recommendations; the quality and timeliness of work; the oversight of the project; and the personal approach to our project.

This is the fourth project we’ve worked with L&R on, the first project was helping with sump pump drainage, then building a car parking space, then two years ago they put in a water feature boulder with surrounding landscaping in the front and now the best, just last week was where they revived our tired old creek. The result is breathtaking. The team, all the way from Layla in the office to the designers and the builders is always a good experience.

It was done to our complete satisfaction and is beautiful from every direction. We have gotten many compliments. The steps and walkway look like beautiful tile you would find inside. We love it!!

L&R has done 2 major and 1 minor project for us over the past 2 years. The quality of workmanship is excellent. Ron and Dawn are creative and wonderful to work with. Their crews are skilled and courteous. They are very conscientious about keeping the worksite as clean as possible at the end of each day which is so appreciated. We love the crew so much, we made them a thank you dinner on the last day of construction. We are thrilled with their work, especially the mason work on the English wall in front of our home and the amazing custom fireplace on our back patio.

Pros: Decent work (some good, some bad) Cons: Poor communication, doesn't fix issues (per contract), a number of poor installations, lack of customer service, etc, etc Hired to install front patio, retaining wall, landscaping. I should have known based on the first meeting after signing contract that we would be a second thought (despite spending +$100k)...initial meeting to pick bricks and stone, the lady was confused with who we were as she shuffled through her many layouts for other customers ("sorry, we just have so many"). Was told initially work would start once ground was ready - started a month later due to them having to 'take care of previous year work'. That's fine, just tell us during the winter so we can plan our interior house remodel accordingly. Just got a note one day out of the blue saying that work will start that day despite numerous calls prior trying to get a start date with limited feedback. After working for a few weeks, just stopped showing up for a few weeks. Because they had torn up the front door entrance, it was kind of a big deal to us. Only after a number of emails did we get a note explaining that they were waiting on a permit for the retaining wall. In the meantime, they would not have a crew work on our entrance until they could work on the retaining wall at the same time so as to 'maximize crew efficiency'. Thanks, I'm glad someone else is getting their work done while we (and now our interior contractors, because you started late) have to go in a different entrance because you couldn't get your permitting done correctly. When work finally was resumed, there were issues that became evident. They ripped through a big root on the main locust tree in our yard (how do you miss that?), threatening its survival. They installed a bench against one of our walls without our approval, despite it not being in the plans! We go away a couple days and come back to an unplanned bench. Only because it worked for the space did we accept, but what if we didn't?? There must have been a drop dead date for the job, because all of a sudden one day there were a whole group of workers on the site trying to get it done in a day. When cramming it all in a day, the quality was lost. Hopefully you can tell from the pictures where the patio seems to not be graded right, so water just sits on the patio; downspouts they installed were installed improperly and fall off all the time (and leaves get caught in all the time - what kind of dumb design are the drains?); electrical wires aren't buried correctly and are sitting above the ground us to trip on or animals to chew on; electrical tape on downspouts, etc. Communication was horrible. Only time they would be proactive in reaching out was the day after they issued their invoice asking for payment (sometimes before the work was even completed). We paid promptly each payment, but you wouldn't think so with the emails/calls we received (we won't pay final payment until job is done!). Received zero updates/feedback on a daily or weekly basis from the site foreman, so no idea where the project stood more than what we could see. I believe there was a language barrier. Once job was finished, took them until following year to fix steps that were installed poorly and broke - I'm guessing only due to our constant request for status. They put a 1 year warranty on plants, but when a few of the plants died and requested replacements, they never returned communication despite multiple attempts. Way to do the right thing...they got their money, why would they want to uphold their contractual responsibilities. Leaving overall C grade because a good portion of the work was done well - the retaining wall, facing on the wall, back patio. Left such a poor taste in our mouth with the terrible customer service (communication, follow-through) that it offset any goodness associated with the work. We got the impression that unless you are a super big project (more than the +$100k we spent) that you will be put at the end of the queue (if at all). Would not recommend.

L&R clearly stood out from the beginning. The proposal they provided was the most thorough and detailed. While we received other quotes which were less, I wasn't entirely sure that what was being quoted would result in the finished product that we were looking for. Throughout the process, L&R was responsive, addressed any questions we had and ultimately delivered what we were looking for. They also did a great job of communicating throughout the project and ensuring that we were happy with the final result. I would definitely recommend L&R to anyone that needs grading or landscaping work.

Their work is beautiful......we have no complaints whatsoever. They always coordinate the work with you and tell you exactly what will be done.

I have used L&R on a couple of landscape projects and found their price to be reasonable and their design knowledge to be excellent. The jobs have come out better than I imagined both times and would highly recommend them to others.

This job went very well from start to finish. The crew was incredibly diligent and professional and left the work area very clean every evening. They exceeded my expectations in every phase and The results are amazing. They were a bit higher than another estimate that I received, but the bid was SO much more thorough than the other company that it is hard to accurately compare. Definitely seems like a company where you get what you pay for. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend.

The project was completed beautifully. We love our new patio, fire pit, and landscaping. They adjusted to the terrain and our ideas and we love it.

We are very pleased with L&R on all the projects that we have had completed in our yard. All the projects were well planned, designed and installed with care and respect to our property. They have done multiple landscaping projects that have improved our yard, including regrading, new shrubs, stone path, granite stone steps in the back yard up to a raised bed garden on the most difficult berm. Also installed brick side walk and under ground drains for rain run off, and replaced our deck with a two level deck and stairway. This past spring we called on them to do a yard cleanup and mulch refresh throughout the yard. The latest project was a some what emergency call when we had to have a new electric service installed, and as part of that work a growing rod had to be installed which required part of our paver sidewalk to be removed and reinstalled. They responded quickly, and made a problem disappear. Everyone at L&R is very professional, friendly and efficient from inception to completion and we will continue to rely on them for any and all projects for us and highly recommend them for any projects big or small.

In 1 word - tremendous!! I would hire Ron & his team again tomorrow morning. The attention to detail, the quality, the professionalism, the crew was best in class. Expect your property to be cleaned up at the end of every work day and expect no hassles. We couldn't be more pleased with our final product!!

The project went very smoothly, and I was very pleased with the results The three-person crew was so hard-working, courteous and professional. An advantage of using this company is the fact that, besides doing the block work, they know landscaping, as well, so minimized damage to the plantings disturbed during the work. I'd definitely recommend this company for retaining wall work. While I gave all A's in rating, I was a bit uncertain on how to rate the price, but the company's bid was competitive, compared to other bids I received. Lyle was great about suggesting options to help keep the cost down as well as to minimize damage to plants and shrubs.

Lyle and his crew, led by Fabian, were very responsive to our needs. Lyle made an extra trip to our home to personally answer some additional questions we had. Fabian, and his crew, were excellent as always (He was also the foreman on a job L&R did for us a year ago) He, and his crew, showed up in a timely manner, were professional, and thoroughly cleaned up the job site after the job was completed. The job required at least a couple of hundred pavers. We were very pleased with the results and would use him again, if necessary.

The woman that answered the phone, was rude, and seemed that it was a real inconvenience to answer my questions about tree planting. No one even bothered to call me back about setting up a time for someone to come out to see the job.

Excellent! Ron and his crew were a pleasure to work with and I could tell they had a commitment to doing the job correctly and efficiently. The crew got an amazing amount of work done in 2 days. Yard was left in better shape than when they arrived and all was cleaned up. We are very happy.

Work started about a week later than originally quoted, but once started proceeded quickly and professionally. Only a couple of minor items were added to original bid once underway. very pleased with the results and the crew.

It's excellent, you should come see it, it's beautiful!The owner itself would come and inspect the place.It's a family owned business. They're very professional.They landscaped the backyard.They totally excavated the whole deck and put in a new deck. They out in new footings. The deck was enlarged. Underneath the deck, we did a water proofing so we can relax. The patio, there's a new patio underneath which was expanded.There are drain tiles; my back yard is crisscrossed with drain tiles.They built a retaining wall with stones and planted, of course, shrubs and bushes chopped down all of the old trees.They planted new trees.

I had major landscaping done recently.They did the deck, the whole repair ramp of the front and back yards. The trees were taken out to have them plant, new trees were planted.The patio was made the deck, was made the patio, was covered underneath.So it was a big project. They are not a cheap company.They are not fly by night, they're very good.They are expensive. I don't think people would hire them immediately because you know, they are one of the top landscaping in the cities.But I did a good choice.They did a good job, and that's an excellent crew. This is the first time I was satisfied by someone who did a good landscaping job. You get what you pay for.This is a big, big business.

L and R Suburban did a massive hardscaping and softscaping job for me. The price of the job was over $300,000. All of the stonework, Electric, tree planting, deck and porch building, landscaping, drain tiling, and brickwork, were amazing. I have absolutely nothing to say but that the work was perfect. The people were amazing to work with and were always responsive to me. If you have any job, large or small, you can count on them to do the job according to code and with absolute perfection. Their decades of experience show.
