Brian was truly visionary and one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to meet with. In the end, we decided to go with a decking board replacement (rather than replacing the entire deck w/ a patio/retaining wall) just because this option would be less expensive, and the under-structure of our deck was already new. (The previous homeowners had replaced the understructure.) However, if we would have decided to replace the deck w/ a patio, Impressions Outdoor Living would have been wonderful to work with.

Couldn't have been better - if only other contractors were as easy to deal with. Brian showed up when he said that he would; he did what he said he would do; and he did it in less time than we anticipated. This was a small job and he worked it into his schedule so that there was no inconvenience to us. He was one of only three responses to my numerous requests for estimates. The other two responses said that they couldn't fit us in until 2014, and their estimates were higher. As the work progressed he found that there was going to be more brick cutting and fitting than he originally anticipated but he did it with no extra charge. And he cut the bricks so the dust did no damage to our lawn or garden. I would confidently recommend Brian Rivers/Impressions Outdoor Living to anyone who wants a quality job at a competitive price.

Brian was incredibly flexible, taking on this job between his more traditional landscaping work. He and his crew were incredibly polite, adaptable, and thorough. When they moved the dozens of wheelbarrows full of gray trap around to the back of the house, I expected I would have to rake it all down myself, but his crew took care of it. They took care of the job quickly and without complaint, given what a horrible task it was. I would definitely recommend Impressions Outdoor to anyone who is looking for landscaping services.

Brian was great to work with! He was always on the job site doing the hard work and was always willing to take the time to discuss progress and changes throughout the course of the project. The scope was fairly well set to do the front (west) side when we threw him a curve ball and added a large scope of work on the north side. Then the south side. Then the east side! Brian quickly adjusted the scope of work and added it to his quote. We wanted to coordinate the landscaping work with our roof replacement and Brian figured out a creative way to start his work the week before the 4th of July week (4th fell on a Wednesday) so we could have the landscaping demo work done prior to replacing our roof. Brian and his team worked through perhaps the hottest weeks of the summer and frequently worked 10-12 hour days. The few change orders we had were reasonable and either at our request or as a result of things neither of us were aware of (the soil under the concrete patio was nearly 100% clay. Brian could have easily dropped the Class 5 on top of the clay but he gave me options and recommended I approve removal of the clay and additional base material). Once demo was complete, work progressed as agreed. Brian coordinated sprinkler system repairs/rerouting, material deliveries and everything necessary to keep the project running smoothly. We did not spec out the size of the plants and would have preferred larger/more mature plants - this was entirely our oversight. We agreed to relocate some shrubs and were disappointed these plants were removed then laid out on the yard in the hot July sun for 5 days before being replanted. Only half of these plants survived as a result. We have been completing other major home remodeling projects since we purchased our home. Brian was the best contractor we have worked with hands down. I can't emphasize enough how involved Brian was in the project and happy we were to have one point of contact from conceptual design through completion. Brian and by extension, Impressions Outdoor Living, is the type of contractor you search High and low to find. It's great to have a venue like Angie's List for us to share our fantastic experience!

Brian is very personable, a good listener, and willing to revise his designs to accommodate your personal taste. His pricing was quite a bit higher than our budget, but he was happy to adjust his design to make the bottom line more within our comfort zone. Brian did come out to our house several times to show us paver samples and look at the space. (I didn't call him initially; another landscaper brought him along on her first visit to our home on a different project.) We've put this project on hold until spring, but we've chosen to use another supplier simply because we liked their design options better, plus they do the surrounding plantings.

The company that designed and installed my new back yard brought Brian in to build a small boulder retaining wall with granite steps. Brian is a true craftsman! He handpicked each of the 70 or so boulders so their size and color complemented each other, and also chose two large granite boulders to incorporate into the wall as steps. He did the installation himself. He carefully situated each boulder as he built the wall so that they fit together perfectly. The wall is beautiful, and the rock colors are perfect! I would definitely hire Brian in the future.

The rock removal process went very smoothly. Brain and his crew showed up on time and did a great job. Brain returned calls and gave us an estimate quickly, as well as offered great advice on landscape design and referrals for other services we needed (like stump grinding).

Brian was absolutely great to work with! We had a major drainage issue in our backyard. After many estimates from other landscapers, we chose Brian because we was willing to work within our budget and suggest a phased in plan. Brian was very detailed in explaining his plan and updated us almost daily during the project via phone calls and emails. On a few occasion he even returned to meet with me after I came home from work to update me and discuss any challenges. Halfway through the project, during heavy rains, he came out that day and worked on the yard so water would not pool up. He installed a new patio, regraded the yard and installed a dry river bed and sod. The backyard looks great, and water is properly draining away from the house which is keeping the basement dry. We will continue to use Brian over the next couple of years to continue. I highly recommend him!
