Culligan Water

Resin tank blew after just 4 years. This caused over $5K in damage to appliances and fixtures. Plumber had to replace or repair every fixture in the house. Also had to blow out water heater, etc. They would not do anything. They told me the one year warranty was up so I was on my own. Just wrote a big check and now have no softener. I wont replace with more of their garbage. Just because a name has been around for a while, doesn't mean they are reputable any more. They yellow sand in the pictures is the resin that I got a nice shower in! Thanks for nothing!

Don't make the same mistake I did and lose thousands of dollars by renting a water softener. I had Culligan Water of Minnetonka install a water softener for a monthly rental fee of $30. Over the course of the 15 years I was a customer and paid them $30 a month ($5,400 total) I could have purchased 6-7 top of the line new water softeners. They used a bait & switch tactic to convince me to stay on as a customer by promising a revised rental fee of $9.95 a month and to replace the old unit which was used when they installed it 15 years ago. They never adjusted my bill to reflect the new pricing the promised and charged me $175 service fee to come pick up the old unit - which we never discussed - nor did I agree to. And the unit they installed was not the new efficient model they promised. Horrible customer service. Horrible experience overall. If I could give them a lower rating I would. Don't waste your hard earned money by doing business with Culligan of Minnetonka. I cancelled my service with Culligan and bought a high efficiency water softener for $800 installed and it does a far better job than the old units Culligan installed.

Great product, installer did not go thru operation of unit. Did not have a fitting to attach to drain, needed to order and come back on a different day.

Excellent service. On time. Knowledgeable tech who started with testing the water. This showed the unit was softening the water. He tested its valve control mechanism and advised it needed to be rebuilt due to age - it was likely to jam in the near future. Work completed in about 45 minutes total. Low pressure sales tactics - before doing the work he informed the electronics in the unit are no longer available if it failed.

I have gone back and forth with them on the equipment working correctly.

We enjoy the water and are satisfied with Culligan's service.

Called Culligan to come check my water softener May 27, 2016. When looking at the softener they said as far as they could see there was nothing wrong and that they would give information to their manager Adam, and he would call me and let me know the results . It took for me to call several times in order for him to call me back. When he did call me back he told me that it would take time for the softener to work through the pipes. There was nothing done. I feel that they were not working me on this issue. It is not as bad, no film on top of water like there was, but my skin is still dry. I gave an "F" for overall because of the delinquency, no call backs. All my good grades are based on the technician, the technician was on time and very responsive . I do have a personal file set up for this company. If any more information is need i can provide it for you.

They did a good job. The sales person was good as well.

Culligan's service is excellent. Everyone I have been in contact with has been very professional and helpful. While the price is higher than you might pay buying the salt yourself elsewhere, I find the service of the company and it's people to more than make up for the price.

I bought a new house and called to schedule an inspection of the water softener. The sales representative rudely informed me they will not honor a coupon from the corporate office which would save me $110. Since I can only use this Culligan office due to the Culligan's restrictions on area of coverage per office, I am unable to take advantage of the savings and forced to deal with poor customer service if I go with Culligan.

They're very pushy. They insulted competitors and did a lot of pressure on us.

The serice professional came by with the correct model. Took his time installing it, re-plumbing it and then explaining what he did. The guy making the service call is the frontline contact with the company. My Culligan service guy is a great representative of the comany.

Sales person sampled water and gave good overview of work to be performed and associated guarantees. Installer replaced previously installed Culligan water softener. Contracted with Culligan because of long service with previous Culligan water softener. Installer gave a good overview of how to operate the system. Culligan disposed replaced water softener and associated equipment and plumbing. Inspection was arranged with city and city inspection passed without inspector comment. Also see ratings above.

I got a deal on the installation because Francine gave me the "State Fair Special". I paid $29.95 rather than over $200. Everything was performed very efficiently and it all took less than an hour to install. I am so happy to have soft water in my house now!

They have different locations, but I use the Minnetonka location. I spent about $2000 on that service. I would tell others that they provided excellent service.

The gentleman came and delivered my salt and even checked out my softener. They called beforehand, both 2 days ahead and the day of delivery, to let me know when they would arrive and showed up right on time. They did an excellent job and I will continue to use them. They are very professional and nice.

They had excellent pricing. They were available right away so they came on time, did the work and left. They seemed fine to me and I didn't have any problems. We didn't really have major work done. It was just the softener system that was not working so he recharged something, I'm not sure what it was, but it was fairly quick and I think it was part of the scheduled maintenance that we had done.

The staff was excellent and very professional. They came in and got the job done helping me with two little things I couldn't do as a single person and each one only took them three minutes. He didn't say, "Oh no! That is not what I am here to do." He just said, "Oh sure! I can do that for you. It is not a problem." The rental option makes them affordable. I am happy with their overall service.

For the most part they are Ok. The filter is checked every 18 months or more often when filter needs changing. However, they do not check on the water softener at all, unless you get their salt delivery. Although I did get that service, it appeared that the softener was still full of salt even tho none had been added for close to a year so they did not come out. I called several times and mentioned it to the filter service man, but they apparently don't do anything on the softeners and wouldn't check. After several calls, I got them out and It turned out the system was not functioning properly so my water had not been fully soft for a long time. It was "bridging" too, so it looked like salt was full but in fact there was big empty space underneath and it was almost empty. They did repair it and when I called to discuss with them (why don't they at least have the filter people check to see if the water is soft??) they did give 2 months credit, but it had been much longer than that that it was not functioning well.

This policy seems to penalize people who have to work. If people are not working, how are they going to do business with them? This seems insulting. Before this experience I would have graded them an A, but I don't think I will be using them any more.

The installation was 100 dollars off due to state fair discount. It was a over all good experience. They explained everything to us.

Gary showed up on time, was pleasant, gave me some advice, and fixed a problem that I had left alone for too long. My 20 year old water softener had been sitting idle for over a year because I had simply not scheduled service for a leak in it. I should have done so earlier, since the service was quick and pleasant...and it turns out rather necessary. He fixed several unforeseen problems in only about a half-hour. Unfortunately, when he turned the system on to cycle the water through, the floor drain backed up. As Gary said, "OK, your next call is to Roto Rooter." He then left me specific instructions on what to do after the drain had been cleared. Roto Rooter was also great, by the way. The softener appears to work well now, even though it will take several cycles to get back its old form. I'm happy with the service, the recommendations and the results.

They do the job very quickly and will call me at work just before arriving to minimize the disruption.
