Description of Work: We bought a wood burning fireplace insert which they installed, along with the surround. Someone came to measure and helped my husband know what to do in order to wire it (just advice, non-binding). The insert came in about 2 months - busy time of year I guess. But it was all as advertised and we are very happy with it.

Description of Work: I had someone else install my wood burning insert in our old 1923 home. I've had several small issues since then and installer has largely been unavailable or cannot answer my questions. Woodland on the other hand has staff who are all very open - in my experience - to share their opinions and expertize. Have been given good advice that has solved some of my issues. In retrospect, while Woodland priced out more than the people I went with for installation, maybe I should have gone with them - and maybe I wouldn't have had to deal with the small issues I've had.

Description of Work: This was a slightly unusual experience. The salesman seemed very knowledgeable and spoke with considerable authority about fireplace inserts and we learned information from him. However, throughout the whole experience of two visits to their showroom and 2 follow up emails, he consistent expressed ambivalence about whether or not we went with them for the job. It was an interesting, mildly arrogant approach. He had never heard of Angies list he said. Ultimately, we decided to go with a highly rated Angies List provider (see my other review) who also came in about $1,000 less - partly because of a manufacturer's sale - but I'm not sure the Woodland guy would have bothered with such details, like sales!

+ -1 moreThe staff at the showroom was knowledgeable. The estimator came to our house to measure and gave some good advice. Everything was going well. He said he'd send a contract but didn't. We finally called after two weeks. Paul said he just forgot to send it. That added to the delay. Then we had to mail the signed contract back, again slow. Then we didn't hear anything, not even a ''thank you for your order'' or ''you can expect...''. At the two week point, I called to get a status which was 4-6 weeks. The product came at 5 weeks and was installed a few days later. Paul did a fine job. I was just disappointed in the amount of time and lack of thanks.
Description of Work: They installed glass doors on an arched stone, wood-burning fireplace.

THE GAS LINE INSTALLER FORGOT TO TURN THE GAS TO THE HOUSE BACK ON AFTER THE INITIAL VISIT. I HAD TO TURN IT ON AND LIGHT THE HOT WATER HEATER. WOODLAND WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND SAID THAT IF I CALLED, THEY WOULD HAVE COME OUT RIGHT AWAY. I KNEW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM EASILY, SO I DIDN'T CALL. THE FINAL PRODUCT WAS EXCELLENT QUALITY AND JUST WHAT I EXPECTED.

MY ONLY FRUSTRATION WAS IN CALLING THE STORE, BECAUSE VIRTUALLY 100% OF THE TIME, I GOT THE MESSAGE MACHINE, WHICH ALWAYS MEANT WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. THE CALL BACKS DID NOT HAPPEN AS PROMPTLY AS I MIGHT HAVE WISHED. (VERY MINOR COMPLAINT.)
