Description of Work: Contacted White Crane and during the initial phone consultation they asked many questions, including our experience with previous companies, etc. We responded that previous experience with remodeling/construction has been good but what we really dislike is poor communication and not getting back to the customer in a timely fashion. Upon this response and confirmation that we have all the resources to go through with our project, we were assured that the owner would call us on a specified evening that week to set up an initial site meeting and that White Crane would most definitely be communicative and on time. They took down our contact information, including phone numbers and e-mail addresses. |Well, after waiting around a week or two and not hearing back at the specified time or ever, we decided this company was not serious about our business. It is now over half a year later, and we would not have submitted this review, except that we did find this company on Angie's list (contacted in hopes of good service) then Angie's list asked how it went. Very disappointing.

WORK WAS DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER AND ACCORDING TO THE WORK PLAN THEY PRESENTED TO US. THERE WERE NO SURPRISES OR SURPRISE COSTS AND THEIR EMPLOYEES ON THE JOB WERE FRIENDLY, POLITE AND EQUALLY RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIVE. THE PROJECT WAS PLANNED AND EXECUTED ACCORDING TO OUR SPECIFIED BUDGET AND WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. THE FEW SMALL ISSUES WE HAVE HAD ''AFTER THE FACT'' TOOK ONLY A PHONE CALL TO RESOLVE.

Description of Work: SUSAN CAME OUT TO OUR HOUSE TO GIVE US A BID ON A NEW HALF BATHROOM AND REPAIR WORK ON OUR MUD ROOM. SHE TOLD US WE SHOULD EXPECT A BID WITHIN A WEEK. IT HAS BEEN 3 WEEKS AND WE HAVEN'T RECEIVED A BID. WE ARE VERY UNABLE ON THEIR FOLLOW THROUGH.

I HAVE DEALT WITH OTHER CONTRACTORS WHO ARE PROMPT AT RETURNING PHONE CALLS/EMAILS AND WHO DO MAKE AN EFFORT TO ARRIVE EARLY OR ON TIME.
Description of Work: EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! AFTER I READ ALL THE GREAT COMMENTS ABOUT THIS COMPANY, I CONTACTED SUSAN TO GET A QUOTE TO FINISH OUR BASEMENT, APPROX. 1200 SQUARE FEET. SHE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THAT FRIDAY AND INSISTED THAT BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I BE HOME. WE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO RETURN TO THE HOME FROM WORK. THE FIRST DISAPPOINTMENT CAME WHEN SHE ARRIVED NEARLY 30 MINUTES LATE. SHE USED THE WEATHER AS AN EXCUSE BUT WE ALSO HAD JUST TRAVELED ACROSS TOWN THROUGH THE SAME CONDITIONS AND MADE IT ON TIME. THEN SHE TOOK OUR PLANS AND PROMISED TO GET THEM BACK IMMEDIATELY. I HAD TO CONTACT HER TO REQUEST THEM BACK FOR OUR NEXT VISIT WITH ANOTHER CONTRACTOR. SHE PROMISED US TWO DIFFERENT DATES FOR THE QUOTE BUT NEVER DELIVERED ON EITHER.

THEY PROVIDED A COMPLETE BLUEPRINT WITH NOTES AND A DETAILED BUDGET BASED ON MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS. IT'S AN OLDER HOME (1915) AND PLACEMENT OF THE MECHANICALS AND STRUCTURAL BEAMS REQUIRED CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING. PREPARING A BLUEPRINT, AND HAVING SUBCONTRACTORS VIEW THE SITE BEFORE HAND, HELPED THEM IDENTIFY SOME POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. SEVERAL THINGS IN THE BASEMENT HAD TO BE BROUGHT UP TO CODE AS PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION. THIS RAISED THE PROPOSED COST CONSIDERABLY, BUT GAVE ME CONFIDENCE THAT THERE WOULD BE NO BIG SURPRISES DURING CONSTRUCTION. THEY HELPED ME PARE DOWN MY WISH LIST TO KEEP THE OVERALL COST IN HAND. SITE MANAGER, TIM, KEPT IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH ME REGARDING WHAT WAS HAPPENING EACH WEEK. CARPET PROTECTORS, DROP CLOTHES AND HIS FREQUENT SWEEPING/MOPPING KEPT MOST OF THE MESS AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE HOUSE.
