From the sales call to the finished product, Brad's company was fast, friendly, and professional. Everyone who worked on the garage was outstanding and I'm very happy with the finished product. If I'm ever in the market for any of their other services, they'll get my call first.

Very satisfied overall. It was a few weeks before the cement crew showed to start the job due to previous jobs but we were not in too big a hurry. The concrete work was done well and the job progressed quickly once lumber was delivered. The crews did good work with only a few detail issues that I identified to Scott and he quickly addressed. Specifically, the construction crew was a little messy with some brickmold miter cuts and some nail runs that secure the OSB to the frame studs missed the studs. Also, the overhead door installer tore up an interior wall sheath board and just left it that way for me to find. Every time I called Scott about these and other issues he produced a satisfactory result in short order.

They tore down the old deck and removed the old concrete footings and hauled it all away. They put in new concrete footings that went four feet under ground level and built a 20' by 7' fabulous deck. It is extremely sturdy and looks great. They handled the permits and paperwork very professionally. We live in a townhouse and there are very strict rules and regulations regarding the appearance of the residence and Western followed all the rules and still built a deck that is superior to our neighbors decks. This was done in a timely fashion despite bad weather. We are very pleased with the work they did and would definitely use Western again.

They did a good job on the garage, but the sub-contractor that did the concrete did a very poor job. There are cracks all over the place. We were not very pleased.

My Dad & I decided to build a garage for his home on a small city lot that never had one. My Dad was adamant in the placement of the garage not wanting to "take up his entire back yard" or remove a 100+ year old, humongous shade tree. We had already consulted with 2 others who discouraged us in our placement preference when Brad Chazin met with us. Brad immediately recognized how important this was to my Dad showing us a couple of different options to make it work! Brad provided an estimate, which my Dad a retired salesman asked "It won't be increased for any reason right?" Brad's responded he stands behind his estimates. Upon hiring Western my Dad pointed out a $1000 error in the estimate, Brad's response was my mistake estimate stands as written. My Dad complimented Brad on his business integrity telling him he would accept adding the $1000 to the bid, that he "tested" Brad upon seeing the error. Work started on time, finished on time, topnotch, A+. We would hire Western again.

First met with owner, Brad Chazin, when I started to price garages from several companies. Brad/Western Garage Builders was the first company I had come to my home to give me an estimate. Brad helped me decide what size garage would suit my needs and then went over, in depth, about what was included in the price (basically everything) and explained how the garage would be built and what materials would be used during the construction. After Brad's presentation, I was sold and signed a contract for Western Garage to build my garage. I felt that comfortable with Brad that I didn't have any other companies come out for estimates. I also knew that Western Garages was a well known company that has been in business in the metro for many, many years. The garage went up with no problems, and the construction was top notch with excellent workmanship and first rate materials. Excellent communication before, during and after construction. I am very happy with garage, and I would use them again!

Our experience with Western was excellent. They were here everyday until the job was complete with exception of a few days where rain prevented them from working. They were excellent at communicating and asked about anything they felt we might have a preference one way or another. Brad spent a lot of time at the beginning working on a two level garage for us. The two level garage was not practical in our case mainly due to Minneapolis zoning. All work was high quality, and the site was left clean and uncluttered each night. I needed to do some internal low voltage wiring, and they scheduled the crew to allow me time to complete what needed to be done.

They built the garage and poured the driveway in the Spring of 2005 (end of March, beginning of April). I called them in May because the end of the driveway by the alley is chipping away. Western told me that I had to contact their sub-contractor (who they hired) to take care of the issues. They did not even provide a name and number. I paid Western, but a lien ended up being placed on my house by the cement sub-contractor's supplier because of non-payment from the sub-contractor. I have a signed lien release from Western, but this came from the concrete supplier. Western also did not follow through with the electrical inspection for the garage, and it has still not been done. As far as I know, the lien is still an issue although it is not my responsibility because I have paid Western in full. All I want is for my crumbling driveway and cracks in my garage floor to be fixed.

My neighbors are all jealous & I've met some new ones because it looks great. The contractor was nice, timely (they were ready before I was), and everything was handled correctly. The equipment & supplies were delivered shortly before the work began & cleaned up shortly after they were done. The workers were extremely pleasant. I had specific requests for the garage lights & they were able to find exactly what I wanted. They even took the extra time to address some concerns I had & advise me as to the best brand name to go with for quality in my price range. They also worked with my insurance company (State Farm), whose agent actually commented that the contractor was pleasant to work with and quick to respond with what she needed to process my claim quickly. Although I didn't need any change orders, the cost was exactly what was estimated.

We had several out of the ordinary requests and all were done exactly as we wished. They were very polite and considerate both to us and our neighbors. The work was done on time, and they even cleaned up after themselves. I found the price competitive, and they stuck with the original quote. They worked with us on our requests to make them feasible and workable. We are very happy with the suggestions they made, and in retrospect, after 1 year would not have anything different.

BRAD AND NANCY AT WESTERN, KEPT IN CONSTANT CONTACT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY START TO FINISH. THEY WORKED WITH THE CITY OF MPLS REQUIREMENTS WITH EASE! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, BUT THEY HAVE IT DOWN TO AN ART AS THIS IS ALL THEY DO!

I WAS ABLE TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AT MY HOUSE FOR AN ESTIMATE ($18.500) AT A TIME THAT WAS CONVENIENT FOR ME. THE ESTIMATOR, BRAD, WAS PROFESSIONAL, PAID ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND PROVIDED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE AT THE END OF THE APPOINTMENT. THE ESTIMATOR ALSO TOOK THE TIME TO SUGGEST SEVERAL CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO MY PLANS. THIS COMPANY ACTUALLY PROVIDED THE LOWEST QUOTE. ALTHOUGH WE DID NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY WERE A CLOSE SECOND.

THEY DID A HORRIBLE JOB ON THE SLAB. THEY INSTALLED ANCHOR BOLTS WHERE THEIR WEREN'T TO BE WALLS. WHEN THEY REMOVED THE ANCHOR BOLTS, THEY CHIPPED OUT THE CEMENT. WALLS ARE. THEY REALLY MESSED UP MY APRON AND THE WATER STANDS THERE NOW. THEY CAME OUT TO PATCH IT UP AND IT LOOKS SLOPPY. THE GARAGE DOES LOOK FINE AND THEY DID DO A GOOD JOB ON THAT. BUT THE SLAB IS VERY POOR.

NANCY, FROM THE COMPANY BACK OFFICE, WAS EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE TO CALLS AND CONCERNS AND WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE CARPENTERS WERE ALSO VERY PROFESSIONAL, MAINTAINED AN EXTREMELY CLEAN JOBSITE, WERE FRIENDLY AND DEMONSTRATED A WILLINGNESS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. THEIR WORK WAS EXEMPLARY. THE CONCRETE SUBCONTRACTOR WHO EXCAVATED AND POURED THE CONCRETE DID NOT PERFORM SATISFACTORILY. EXCAVATION AND SITE PREP WAS NOT COMPLETED WHEN THE CONCRETE SHOWED UP, BUT THEY BEGAN TO POUR IT, ANYWAY. AS A RESULT, THE FOOTINGS WERE NOT POURED AS SPECIFIED IN THE CONTRACT. THEY HAD TO RETURN TO REPAIR THE FOOTINGS. THERE IS UNCERTAINTY OF THE STABILITY OF THE SLAB AND WHETHER IT WAS POURED TO ITS' REQUIRED 4'' DEPTH IN AREAS. WHEN THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED FOR THE JOB THE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE POORLY SET EXPECTATIONS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE JOB - WHICH FINISHED WEEKS LATER THAN EXPECTED.

THE WORKERS SEEMED TO BE NICE, HOWEVER I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH SEVERAL ASPECTS OF THIS COMPANY. TO NAME A COUPLE THEY LACKED CUSTOMER SERVICE (IE NOT RETURNING PHONE CALLS) AND THEY TRIED TO INCREASE THE COST BY $1000 WHEN WE DECIDED TO REPOSITION THE GARAGE. IT WAS THE DAY AFTER WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT AND IT ELIMINATED REMOVING A TREE AND MOVING POWER LINES. NOT TO MENTION THE SALESMAN BASICALLY DISAPPEARED WHEN WE PAID HIM THE DOWN PAYMENT. MY HUSBAND FIXED THE ONE THING THAT THE CITY INSPECTOR FOUND. WE DID NOT WANT THEM BACK.

THE OWNER CAME OUT TO PROVIDE BID FOR GARAGE ADDITION, BUT NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH QUOTE. I CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HE SAID HE WOULD SEND IT OUT THE NEXT DAY, BUT NEVER DID. HE THEN JUST REFUSED TO RETURN CALLS.

I HAVE CALLED THREE TIMES NOW TO GET AN ESTIMATE TO HAVE A NEW GARAGE BUILT. I AM ALWAYS TRANSFERRED TO VOICE MAIL AND THEY NEVER CALL BACK. THEY MUST NOT NEED THE WORK!

THESE PEOPLE REALLY LISTENED TO WHAT I WANTED. I WANTED SIDING AND SHINGLES DIFFERENT THAN THEIR STANDARDS, AND THEY HAD NO PROBLEM LETTING ME SUBSTITUTE. IT WAS FRUSTRATING AT FIRST TRYING TO FIND OUT WHEN STUFF WOULD HAPPEN (WHEN THE GARAGE TEAR DOWN WOULD BE, WHEN BUILDING WOULD START, ETC) BUT ONCE I FIGURED OUT THAT NANCY IN THE OFFICE WAS THE COORDINATOR, MOST OF MY PROBLEMS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.

THE VINYL SIDING IS UNEVEN AND WAVY. THERE IS AN AREA THAT IS BOWED OUT FROM WARPING AND THE CONCRETE STARTED FLAKING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. IT ALSO TOOK 5 MONTHS FOR THEM TO FINISH. VERY POOR QUALITY WORK AND THEY DON'T RETURN PHONE CALLS TO GET THE SITUATION RESOLVED.
