We were very disappointed!! Despite clearly explaining the difficulty we were having removing a portion of the kitchen faucet that was causing the faucet to drip and our concerns over not having all the correct replacement parts they assured us they carried parts on their truck and sent out a plumber. When the plumber arrived he worked on the faucet for ten minutes. Then told us that he could not remove the part and if he did the faucet wouldn't work again until he had replacement parts. So basically he was done. Knowing he was going to charge us for his trip, we asked him his opinion about some other work we needed to have done --that took an additional 5 minutes. He wrote up the bill for one half hour of time plus the service call and was out the door in less than 30 minutes. After calling the dispatcher to complain, the plumber did work with us over the phone to help locate the correct parts--but we did most of the work on that. Plus, we were led to believe that there would be no charge to have the plumber return once the parts arrived, or that we would be credited for the time we already had paid for. Once the parts arrived, and we called to schedule the appointment, we learned that there would be no credit put towards the new expenses. So we called a different plumber!

Response from Weld & Sons Plumbing
From the description given, we anticipated being able to resolve in one trip. Unfortunately the part I thought would be needed was different than what needed to be changed out. Our minimum charge for a service visit is a service call and one hour labor. We charged less than that due to fact we knew we would have to come back, and told them the combined total for both trips would be the amount of the one hour minimum. Basically we would treat it as if we never left. Customer declined, and said they would install the part themselves.

Don came out to quote the first job. He was very friendly and thorough. He followed up with me requesting additional information so he could correctly assess the work and diagnose the water pressure issues. A couple weeks later the crew came out to do the work. All were very professional. To install the water line for the new external hose bib they had to drill through the foundation joists and several inches of concrete. It was not an easy job but they tackled it without complaint. To run the line for the humidifier they had to cut through drywall. They made the fewest number of cuts possible, all were very neat to make patching easier. They cleaned up the mess and left the house in good shape. Don also sent out someone to look at the water pressure issue. The house was built in 1879 and presents some challenges to electricians and plumbers. It was gutted and remodeled in 2010 but still has the quirkiness of an old house. We were afraid they'd have to cut into the wall and replace the regulator valve for the shower but before doing anything they removed all the heads and valve stems, cleaned out what appeared to be construction debris from the shower heads. Valves were tightened, shower heads replaced and the water pressure was 100% improved. We had need of an unexpected second visit a few weeks later when found water puddles in our basement. We traced the problem to a leaking radiator and the dishwasher. It was a Saturday so we called the after hours number. They had someone out within 90 minutes and he fixed the radiator leak and helped us determine that the dishwasher leak was from a jammed float. It was a bit pricey due to the weekend call but we were thankful to get it resolved quickly and due to our existing relationship with Weld Plumbing we were not worried about being gauged.
Description of Work: First visit - ran a hot water line to our utility room for a whole house humidifier, diagnosed and fixed bathroom water pressure issues, ran a new water line to the outside of the house. Second visit - fixed a leaking radiator, diagnosed dishwasher leak

Tim was excellent in the work he did. He was efficient and discussed the time it took so that the labor charge was understood and very accurate. No wasted time. We have tried various plumbers over the years, and have now found a plumber who is reliable, efficient, cost-effective and skilled. The owner, Don Weld, even called to be sure everything was satisfactory. Could not be more satisfied!

I had been attempting to get this project done for some time. I had contacted a variety of plumbers and handymen, with unsatisfactory results...from " we don't do that" to "we cant make it work" to just long sighs....The few bids I did get were not reasonable. Don Weld came out, reviewed the situation and was very positive about what could be done. I had an estimate/proposal in a few days. Everything was explained to me and all my questions/concerns were answered. The scheduled day of job completion was perfect!! Ben,the tech, was professional, experienced and was obviously an expert in his field. He arrived on time and worked solid for 8 hours. He was polite and considerate of my home; I think he left it neater than when he started. When finished, I had everything I wanted; it couldn't have turned out better! From Don Weld himself to the office staff and most of all Ben, all the employees were awesome! Weld and Sons will be my plumber of choice from now on and I recommend them highly.

Ben came out to my house and we did a quick walk around to determine what needed to be done. Unfortunately the house I bought has a finished basement so we had to cut some holes in the ceiling to gain access to the pipes. Once we determined where the pipes were we had a conversation about what I wanted done and where the new shut-offs were going to be installed, Ben went to work. A few hours later, everything was done! Ben would check in with me from time to time to make sure what he was doing was ultimately what I wanted and where I wanted things placed, which I really appreciated. He did a great job and his work was very professional (nice soldering job!). Total job took around 5 hours because of the difficult access to where the work needed to be done. All in all very happy with these guys and would have back to do more plumbing in the future.

Clyde called to say when he would arrive and he arrived on time. It was drizzling outside and he took off his shoes before walking on the carpet. I had planned to have him install a new kitchen faucet that I had purchased. However, he noticed that the existing kitchen faucet didn't seem very old. It was only two years old. He said he had a replacement part on the truck for the stiff, squeaky faucet handle. He replaced parts for the hot and cold handles. It is now better than it was when it was new. I was able to take back the new faucet and get a refund. While he was looking under the kitchen sink, he noticed that the garbage disposal bracket was missing a screw and was loose. He added a missing screw that I found and tightened it up. Clyde also installed a new bathroom faucet in the downstairs bathroom. He noticed that part of the drain trap was starting to crack and he replaced it. Clyde is very personable and gave tips about how to keep your drain clear. I would definitely recommend him.

The shower faucet in our 1961 bathroom broke and the water would not shut off. We were worried about the cost of the repair as there was no access panel and we didn't want to have to remodel the entire bathroom just for a broken faucet. I called Weld & Sons because so many of the reviews mentioned their experience with older houses. The person I spoke with on the phone was very helpful, got information about the problem and the brand of faucet and gave us the pricing schedule. Kevin arrived on time, with a phone call about 20 minutes in advance. It took him less than 5 minutes to diagnose the problem and tell us we needed to replace the faucet and downspout. He assured me that he could do it by cutting an access hole on the other side of the wall, which happened to be in a closet. The access hole is fairly small and a clean cut so we were able to attach a panel instead of having to patch a huge section of the wall. We really appreciated that it didn't turn into a major project. The new shower faucet and spout (he installed Moen) look better than the old ones and feel very solid. While Kevin was replacing the faucet, he noticed that a pipe was loose. He seems to have quite a bit of experience with older houses and explained why that happened. He was at our house for a couple of hours and it seemed like the majority of that time was spent reattaching the pipe and checking the other pipes to make sure they were okay. Finally, Kevin was friendly and professional. He cleaned everything as he went and didn't leave any debris laying around. He was great with my dog (who wanted to follow him around and sit near him while he worked) and we chatted for a bit about dogs. As a woman, I am sometimes nervous about having strangers in the house when I'm home alone but I didn't feel that way at all with him. Overall, we were very pleased with the work and price. We will call them again when we need plumbing work done.
Description of Work: Replaced tub/shower faucet and spout in original 1961 bathroom, which involved cutting a hole in the other side of the wall to access the pipes. In the process of replacing the faucet, the plumber had to weld pipes together that were very close to breaking apart.

Weld & Sons responded to my call over the Labor Day holiday (of course my water heater broke early on a holiday weekend!) and even stopped by my house to give me an estimate. They were very nice, knowledgeable and helped me determine which water heater I should purchase given my hot water usage, the size of my basement, and my budget. Their pricing was fair, and their availability was great. I didn't go that many days without hot water after I decided which model to buy. The installation was clean and there were no problems. The water heater I chose had a rebate with the gas company and Weld & Sons took care of the paperwork right away and I got my rebate check from the gas company quickly. There has been no problems with the water heater to date. It has been almost 2 months. I would highly recommend Weld & Sons to my neighbors, friends, and family.

Brad was great! They were able to squeeze me in for a same day appointment. Brad arrived exactly at the given time, was very friendly, and took time to explain everything to me. The first concern was a leaking garbage disposal. It turned out to be a relatively simple fix with a loose connection, but Brad was very thorough in checking it to make sure there weren't any other problems or concerns. He went out of his way to ensure the problem had truly been fixed. The next issue was shutting off the main valves to our external faucets for winter. As we are new in this home, we didn't know where most of the connections where located. Brad took the time to provide a "plumbing orientation" to the house and also did an external walk-around to look at the faucets. All said and done it took an hour. I am thankful for Weld Plumbing's quick response and would certainly use them again.

I called and they sent out an individual (the owner!) to help get a better undersatnding of the issues and assess work needed. He was prompt, courteous and efficient. He assessed the situation, explained to me what was happening, what was needed. Easy to understand and no additional selling of services. The office called within the hour and set up a service appointment. They sent out a technician who was great! Knowledgable, courteous, efficient (3 jobs and out within an hour and a half), and pet friendly too!. Oh, and the price was crazy reasonable. I trust this company, quality people and quality work. I really recommend them.

Dan arrived on time. We have a 1960s home so the laundry tub is the old cement type. Dan let me know ahead of time that with this type of tub the attachment for the pipe is cemented into the tub and if the threads are worn the tub would have to be replaced. When he removed the pipe that was leaking luckily the threads were still okay on the tub so he just had to replace the pipe. I appreciate knowing in advance that there could be a more serious problem due to the age of tub which would require replacement. The pipe was leaking whenever I do laundry and there is no drain under the tub so this needed to be fixed. Dan was professional and got the job done if short matter of time.

Everything about this job was great -- no surprises. Don Weld, Jr. explained what needed to be done & gave the estimate. His description & estimate were accurate. Nate, the plumber, was very pleasant & professional. He arrived on time; explained what he would be doing; coordinated the water shut off & turn on with the city; and worked non-stop. At job completion, Nate walked me through everything that was done. He answered all of my questions. I definitely would hire this company again.

Kevin came out to a house I am moving into in St Paul. Did repair work that 2 other plumbers wouldn't touch (a 1937 bathroom). He fixed the issues! I had about at this time, decided to sell my house in Rosemount. The major concern was that a water pipe had broken years ago, that went from the garage to the back yard faucet. I had water damage in a bedroom closet. I called Weld & Sons, requesting Kevin. He is totally professional, and could easily assess the situation. He capped/cut the pipe, as well as other plumbing work to be done. At a totally reasonable price. The buyers found a damp carpet in the same bedroom carpet, a week or so after Kevin was out. It was going to kill the sale. I called Weld & Sons, explained the situation - that I had just had the carpet cleaned 2 weeks before, they offered many ideas, on their time, not mine- with no charge to me. They then put me in contact with Kevin. He was prompt in calling me back, no incentive for him. We discussed the situation; he thought as well that it was left over from the carpet being cleaned and not a leaking pipe. He also went into detail explaining that the pipe would not be leaking based on what he had done. I asked Kevin if I could have the buyer?s contact him via his personal cell phone and he said sure. Which the buyers did. The sale went through. As my realtor said, if not for Kevin, the sale would not have likely been signed. THANK YOU, Kevin!!! Thank you Weld & Sons!! Highly recommend!
