Don came and gave me a prompt quote that was the lowest bid be a long shot. That alone would have made me happy! The crew arrived early in the morning and worked tirelessly to get everything done by 2:00. They found an unexpected broken basement drain pipe and repaired that for no extra cost, and capped an extra gas pipe that was not included in the quote. I built this bathroom myself and, Don agreed to lower the price if I would haul out the broken concrete and dirt as well as re-pour the concrete. This saved a lot of money and worked great with my project's needs.
Description of Work: Full rough in for a new basement bathroom, and the removal of unused old plumbing. Removed and caped two unused gas lines, unused waste pipe, and an unused vent stack. Raised existing first floor drainage pipe for the tub and sink up into the joists. Dug into the basement floor and installed new PVC drain pipe going to a new shower, sink, and toilet drain. Found and repaired a broken pipe to the basement floor drain at no extra cost. Installed venting and back-flow check valve. Pulled permits and organized the inspection that day.

Clyde arrived on time and fixed a leaky pipe under our kitchen sink. He was friendly, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. We've used Weld and Son's before to rough in plumbing in our basement as well as rerun new water lines to the rest of our house. Their informative and helpful approach lead me to use them despite their bid on the larger projects not being the absolute lowest. I had confidence that they were going to perform quality work, and they delivered. Well done!

We were away on vacation for a week and came home to our main drain being frozen. After calling three other plumbers, who all claimed to have 24/7 emergency service but no one could come out until the next day, we called Weld and Sons. They had someone out within the hour. After explaining our problem to Dennis, he knew exactly what the problem was going to be (especially after the cold weather we had while we were gone). He made up an estimate and then came back inside to explain everything to us. He quickly finished the job in the estmated time and now we have happy pipes again. So happy to be able to take a shower!!!!!

I needed the laundry room plumbing moved completely to other side of the house which involved supply and drain/venting lines to be run. Also needed the main incoming cold line moved from the middle of the ceiling over out of the way somewhere. Guy showed up on time and knew what he was going to be doing (a rarity) and got to it. For all the work I thought it was, it only took several hours to complete and that included shutting off the water at the street when the shutoff inside the house proved too old to be of any service and had to be replaced (it shut off but never opened up again). Maintained good humor even through that.

We came home after being gone for a week and our upstairs bathroom wasn't draining. Because the downstairs plumbing was all working fine, we assumed it was a clog caused by my hair in the pipes. Since that bathroom is the only shower we have, we called several plumbers, Weld & Sons was the first to respond. They had someone out by about 10:00am. The technician was very professional and courteous, he took off his shoes, he covered the areas where he was working with mats. He told us soon after he arrived that he thought the pipe might be frozen, but agreed it was odd that the downstairs plumbing would still be running. He worked on clearing the line until he was able to confirm that it was indeed frozen, then began working on that. The freeze turned out to be nearly 30 feet down the line, in a place where the drain left the house and then came back in the basement (we live in a very old house). He told us he would need special equipment and gave us a return window. He called 30 minutes before they came back (which turned out to only be an hour after he left, even though he gave us a 3 hour window!) They had to run hoses from a truck through our plumbing down to the ice. It was nearly 20 below zero that day, and they were very conscious of keeping the doors as closed as possible, taking off their shoes, and generally being incredibly courteous, even as the job stretched into nearly three hours. It took the "last resort" to get the ice thawed and the pipe flowing again. Throughout the whole ordeal, the tech kept us informed of what was going on. He was completely up front with costs and options, and, in the end, because the job took much longer than anyone predicted, they discounted the hourly rate so that it was only $100 more than what they originally quoted, even though we knew we had basically doubled the cost at that point. I would definitely use them again.

I got a call back form Don Weld a short time later asking additional questions and offering advice. We did the things he suggested and the pipe opened up in short order. Meanwhile, Weld did call us back and could schedule us mid -morning -- which we no longer needed. My point is this is the type of serve we have had every time they have come out. Weld remains our plumber of first resort.

We called Weld & Sons early because the kitchen drain was frozen. Ben Pullis came out around 10:00 a.m. and went down to remove the insulation around the pipe so that heat could get at it. We positioned a hair dryer by the pipe for about 15 min to loosen up the ice jam in the elbow of the pipe. He then snaked the pipe and was finally able to break through the ice jam. Ben was very courteous and professional in the hour that it took to take care of the frozen pipe. We have used Weld & Sons several times and we are always pleased with results and their quality of work.

The drains all run freely now! Ben arrived when he said he would, explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. He was friendly and professional. He cleared out everything that was under the one sink to do his work (which I would not have expected him to do, but I didn't get it done before he arrived) and he put everything back when he was done. He cleaned up every area he worked in, I wouldn't have even known any work had been done. Thank you, Ben! Very pleased with the work performed.

Woke up to no water pressure in the upper level of our house. Ran to the basement and found standing water on the floor. I could hear the sound of water spraying against the inside of the drywall in our bathroom. We shut off the water and called a number of plumbing companies, hoping one of them might be able to squeeze us in. Most of them were understandably busy, but we lucked out with Weld & Sons. We called around 8:30am and were advised they could send someone out w/in about an hour. About 45 minutes later, we got a call from the plumber they'd assigned to us (Ben). Ben apologized that he ran into traffic and would be to our house w/in 45 minutes. He arrived promptly at the revised time. Ben was able to quickly determine where he believed the leak was coming from (behind some sheetrock). Upon cutting out a small square to explore, the opening uncovered the exact part of the pipe that had burst. Ben was able to splice in a new piece of copper and we were back to normal w/in 90 minutes. Beyond, doing the repair, Ben had a natural curiosity to determine what caused the line to freeze in the first place so as to prevent something similar from happening in the future. After doing some investigation, we determined a significant source of external air infiltrating the space where the pipe was from the outside of the house. By temporarily filling the gap, we were able to greatly reduce the air infiltration. I'm confident that when we implement a more permanent insulation solution, we won't have a recurrence of frozen pipes. We had a great experience w/ Weld & Sons and would definitely use them in the future.

I wanted to replace my old toilet and found Weld Plumbing on Angie's List. When I called them Tim gave me some toilet brand names and styles that I could research on line to decide what I wanted. I called them back a couple of days later with the one I'd decided on, and we set up a time for the next week. That morning Kevin was supposed to arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 but the weather was bad and nobody was getting anywhere fast. He called at 7:20 to say he had been on the road for 45 minutes and hoped to get to my house by 8:00. He didn't arrive until 8:15 but that was the traffic's fault. He got right to work and the toilet was delivered by their courier about 5 minutes later. I had had visions of my old toilet being carried, dripping goo, down my stairs, but no. Big cardboard boxes went upstairs, big cardboard boxes came downstairs, no mess at all. And by 9:15 Kevin was all done and I had a new toilet! Very cool. Then he replaced my old rubber washing machine hoses with those flexible metallic ones, and that took him 10 minutes or so. I was very pleased with the entire experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Weld Plumbing to anyone who needs a good, fast, professional plumber.

The scope of work was to jackhammer out the floor in a conference room of a commercial tenant in a 60 year old industrial building to dig down to an existing sewer pipe that was flat and offset causing sewer clogs and backups. Don Weld sized up the job and determined we could do it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and could be in and out in a day. Arrive, jackhammer, dig, remove pipe section, install new pipe section, backfill, pack, and hand mix and install concrete to put it back together - in the same day. The day arrived and Marcus was there to meet me at 7:00 AM. We discussed the plan, verified that everything was in order and off he went. The details from here are that there are not much for details because Marcus did the whole scope of work by himself. He did call me with details about the footing he discovered when digging which did not allow us to get rid or as much cast iron as intended, but I gave him instructions and that was that. The following Monday we reinstalled the carpet and there is no evidence the job even happened. The tenant commented to me that they could not believe how quiet and unobtrusive Marcus was. We did this time and material because I use and trust this company and the bill was $1500 which was a good value relative to what happens each time sewer backs up into a tenant's space. I am very happy with the result and of course will continue to use Weld & Sons.

I made the call around 8:30PM Thanksgiving Eve and the person said one of our plumbers will call you back within 45 min to let you know what time he will be at your home. It wasn't more than 20 min and a plumber called and said he would be here shortly. He came and was very pleasant and took care of the problem in a short amount of time. I thought the price wasn't too bad considering the time and it was Thanksgiving Eve.. We will definitely use this company again. I would give them A+ Paula

I recently purchased a new home which came with the natural gas meter installed in the basement. I found out that the gas company relocates interior gas meters to the outside for free. This allows them to read the meter without having to schedule an appointment with the home owner and is an added safety measure since the main gas line can then be shut off from the outside of the home during an emergency. The gas company does not reconnect the relocated meter to the existing gas plumbing though. It's the homeowner's responsibility to hire a plumber for that task. That's why I called Weld & Sons. I wanted additional work done as well. All of my existing gas plumbing was done with old black iron pipe and there were some redundant runs that didn't need to exist. Since I'll soon be finishing my basement I wanted to modernize the entire system before permanently closing it off behind new walls and a ceiling. Don came out fairly quickly to talk through my options and gave me a reasonable quote. It wasn't the highest or the lowest quote that I received. What sold me was his professionalism, thoughtfulness about what was best for the house and my plans for it, the obvious fact that he cared about doing things the right way, and all of the positive Angie's List reviews for Weld & Sons. On the day of the job, Marcus showed up promptly to do the job solo. He installed a manifold, replaced all of the old black iron pipe with copper, made efficient runs from the new manifold to all of the appliances, replaced two shutoff valves on the water heater and furnace that were old and not up to code, and connected the new system to the relocated gas meter outside. Prior to his work, the only shutoffs were at each appliance and at the main meter. With the new manifold in place there are now four shutoffs along the entire line; one at the main meter, one prior to the manifold, one for each appliance on the manifold, and one at each appliance. This brings a great deal of safety and piece of mind! He also left a capped expansion T instead of an elbow at the end of the manifold since I plan to run a gas line to my garage in the future. That's a minor detail but will save a little time and money when I do get to the point of expanding. On occasion I'd wander into the basement and he'd show and explain to me what he was doing as well as answer a lot of my questions. The job took about 8 hours total and he left my basement cleaned up very nicely. The work he did looks phenomenal! Highly professional and done with obvious great care. There's no question that Weld & Sons will get all of my future plumbing work!
Description of Work: Replaced all of the old black iron natural gas pipe with copper. Installed manifold. Hooked system up to the relocated gas meter (relocation done by the gas company). Installed code compliant shutoff valves at two appliances.
